I never said he wasn't going to sell genius, just that he's not going to have as much mass appeal to your average mom and dad buying figures for their kids. Not that hard of a concept to grasp if you stick your head outside of the wrestling bubble and into the real world. Hardcore collectors are a very small percentage of the customer base for products. I feel like Aew appeals more to adult fans though, most kids are more into wwe leading parents to buy those instead plus they have a $10 option. Def agree aew appears to be more older collectors but I do think if they had a basic series for 10bucks it could be good. I have seen many parents being like oh how about this guy he's only 10 bucks and grabbing a wwe basic. Plus I think it could help if you had a basic aew line for the less known people. 2.0, Garcia, yuta, sky blue, aqa, Yuka, Kira hogan, honestly even fish and Kyle. Hell they could have fun with it and do a Brandon cuttler and nakazowa. Idk just a random thought. Lol

Basic level figures definitely make lines way more accessible to kids. It can't be underestimated how much it matters that they can have two WWE basics to fight each other for $20. Jazwares absolutely should commit to at least an evergreen basic-style line like the WWE Top Picks, and fill it with some of the most eye-catching guys on the roster: Penta, Fenix, Darby, Sting, Black, Swerve. Maybe do a wave or running changes every quarter half-year so you can rotate some guys in and out, maybe slot in a couple of bigger stars with more down-to-earth looks like Hangman and Mox once you've established it.
They keep putting out kid-adjacent products like the toy belts and the wrestling buddies, but they're doomed without that core $10 figure to get kids into the line.

If they were looking to do a budget line for AEW, they should consider the 4 inch scale. Jazwares has had a tremendous amount of success with the 4 inch Fortnite line, and it would enable them to do a lot more things than are really possible at the 6 inch scale, (I’m looking at you Blood and Guts.) And before someone tries to tell me that I’m crazy, I don’t think any retail store picked up the War Games ring for WWE, I really don’t see a smaller line from a smaller company for a smaller company being able to pull that off. RSC would be the best bet, and you still have to combine two pre-existing rings even if they only sold the cage. Jazwares has so far been able to keep the 4 inch Fortnite line under $10 for a single figure, and they have very impressive articulation, comparable to old-school G.I. Joe’s. I would much rather they go that route than try to make a very plain line in the 6 inch scale.

Wrestling figures are now locked in to 6 inch scale because that's the new standard. People want to put their AEW and WWE collections together and see some sort of cohesion. Interest would drop off tremendously if they stepped away from 6 inch scale.

I’m not suggesting changing the existing line, I’m saying if they were looking to create a lower MSRP item to be their equivalent of what basics are for Mattel.

At a different scale, you're at the point where you're almost better off doing a theme line with a unique action feature or something. One of the really beneficial things about the basics is that they can funnel buyers to more expensive products. A kid who buys WWE probably won't get too many Elites, but if they've got a favorite who gets regular Elites, they'll probably get an occasional one as a birthday or Christmas gift.
Although I guess a 5-inch scale or something wouldn't be too out of place with all those unsold basic rings.

That’s true, I’m sure anyone who collects WWE has had times where they spilled over into the other line that they don’t normally pick up for an accessory or an otherwise unmade talent, I was just trying to think of a way to keep it around the magic $10 point that a lot of manufacturers seem to favor by comparing it to something else that the same company produces, as well as creating a niche that’s not really being filled by anyone else. I don’t think there has been a 4 inch scale wrestling line since Jakks unless I’m forgetting something.

It wouldn’t shock me if the line is in trouble. I can find pretty much any figure from the last 2-3 waves minus chases with ease. Dork Order is clogging everything up around here, even Brodie is warming hard now.
On top of that, Smyths to supposedly stop carrying them?
Not looking too good.

I really have been enjoying this line but these things rot, hard. My WalMart has had the same 10 figures on the shelf since February.
