Very sad. I didn't know he was sick. You could always rely on him for a laugh.

Gilbert was always good for a laugh with me. I remember when he was a regular on Howard Stern's show. When he and Artie Lange would let loose together, I'd get laughing so hard, I had trouble breathing. Another one of those great ones that could do good with the more family friendly stuff, while also being successful with crass, dirty humor too.

RIP Mr. Gottfried

Feels pretty depressing to think back to those early-mid '00s Comedy Central roasts and realize just how many of them aren't here anymore. I'd post Gottfried's Aristocrat joke in his memory but it'll probably get deleted pretty quickly lol

"Why do people ride buses? Who are these people? And where do they find, the exact change?"
Thanks for the laughs Gilbert.

From Aladdin to Afflac to everything inbetween. Gilbert was a genius at comedy. Oh so many of his appearances coming to mind.....Beetlejuice and him always kills!

A guy I work with also managed the Gotham Comedy Club in NY. He always had a great Gilbert story. If they were having a fund raiser or charity event, he said 99% of the time Gilbert would be the first to agree to be there. He used to drive the wait staff/bartenders crazy with trying to get comped meals/drinks. He was notoriously cheap, but a great guy. If a headliner failed to show or canceled at the last minute, Gilbert was one of the first people he'd call to fill in.

When I used to go to High School I used to see Gilbert walking around with his bookbag, which always seemed filled to the max. I used to feel sympathy because he walked slow and looked lonely to me.
R.I.P. Gilbert
