14 years disappointed

Questions for anyone who has some input ….Most if not all of the CS figures have attires that can be pinned down to a certain event / match or a certain point in their careers….all except the R&R Express ….Now, I’ve been a hardcore fan of the R&R since ‘86 & I’m still one today, aside from the black tights & the boots, they never wore this generic attire that they put their CS figures in….so where did it come from & why?? …..IMO their figures didn’t get the love that others in the CS line received & by that I mean they felt rushed & just half ass done for whatever reason …..The problems with this set are unbelievable…attires that cannot be matched to any certain event / match or photo, missing silver boot covers & mixed up paint jobs that were never corrected in a running change….why were these two not produced as carefully & meticulously as others in this line? ….All I’m sayin is you didn’t see the Rockers set screwed up like that, if those had been done wrong they would have never left the production line until they were corrected but if by chance they did slip by there would have most certainly been a running change released

I’m far from an expert on this. I have no idea where the vests are supposed to be from. The closest look I can find with the tights is only of Ricky Morton in WCW around 1990/91. Most of the pictures I found were from the WCW trading cards which are mostly on eBay so I can’t link them. But here is an example:



A quick story I’ve never shared: I was born in the mid 80’s so I missed the best years of R&R. However, I had the pleasure of attending “The Collective” independent wrestling shows. I believe it was 12 shows total over 3 days. It was exhausting but fun. Anyway, I distinctly remember sitting in an area on the first day that allowed me to see backstage. That wasn’t my intention but it worked out nicely. During one of the early shows, Ricky Morton arrived to the building with his rolling suitcase. Wrestlers and staff stopped and greeted him and he talked with the boys. He also stood behind the curtain and watched the matches. Not sure if he was trying to get a feel for the atmosphere, studying the people in the ring, or just being a fan…but it was a joy to see him take it in.

That’s awesome, I’ve seen him do the very same thing at independent shows I’ve attended, Robert Gibson as well …..the only time I’ve ever seen them wear black vests was during their entrance at Starrcade 86 but other than that no & they still looked nothing like the plain vests on the figures

Ricky and Robert are great guys. Robert is a bit more quiet while Ricky is the more outgoing but both are great with people. I was backstage at a poorly run show in 2016, the atmosphere was pretty sullen because no one knew if they would get paid (Ricky and Robert apparently did get paid earlier) and both guys were trying to keep everyone's spirits up. Ricky was working the room while Robert kept a bit to himself but it was awesome seeing him go up to all the younger kids and asking them if they knew how to "lock up." No one knew so Robert went ahead and started working lock ups with them in the locker room.

Ricky also told a cool story about Eddie Murray, the baseball player, who was at a restaurant the JCP guys were at. He asked them for autographs for his kid and no one would sign except Ricky and Robert so when Eddie was leaving he gave them signed baseballs. Funnily enough, Eddie himself has always been one of the most difficult free autograph signers in baseball. They both surely do deserve all our support.
