I watched the new Hellraiser last night. Could have used some trimming but I thought it was alright. I liked it more than most films in the series.

I saw a preview of a new movie called Smile. Looks really creepy. And they made another Jeepers Creepers movie. It got less than 3 stars according to IMDB.

Watched the first two Conjuring movies last night. I enjoyed both but I also don’t feel the need to watch the other films in the series. At least not the Nun or Annabelle ones.
Going to try the Insidious films and Black Phone later this week. Plus we get Halloween Ends Friday!
Good on Terrifier 2 though as the first bored the hell out of me.

Watching Insidious for the first time. This movie is goofy as . How is this considered one of the best horror movies of the last ten years?

Going to Halloween Ends shortly. This will complete my trifecta of seeing the DGG trilogy on opening/preview nights. Pretty pumped to see how it goes down. Avoiding Twitter and YouTube comment sections has been rough since people just love to spoil shit.

Just got back from Ends and all I can say is....oof. Well that’s not promising, but after “EVIL DIES TONIGHT” my expectations aren’t super high.

I watched Ends and I didn’t hate it. It was something different and I liked the story for the most part. Did it nail the landing? Probably not. But it’s certainly not remotely the worst Halloween movie.

Saw Halloween Ends last night and I have to say, it was terrible. I felt like this one and the last one felt like a Netflix show. From a storyline perspective, a lot of things didn't make sense. It just didn't feel like a horror movie, but more like a water downed version of a cheesy love story. There weren't really many moments of suspense either. I did enjoy the transition shots and cinematography though. I also enjoyed them removing his mask too (I think this is the most we've ever seen of him without it). It's odd, but in comparison I enjoyed the Jeffrey Dahmer show more.

But it’s certainly not remotely the worst Halloween movie. As someone who has been into the franchise since I was like 8, I hated it and as “the end” it was totally unfocused on the franchise. I found myself trying to talk myself into liking it, but I was ultimately like no it just wasn’t good.

I found myself trying to talk myself into liking it, but I was ultimately like no it just wasn’t good. I think what I enjoy about it, looking back on the new trilogy, is that it focuses on people and the trauma the town as a whole has due to Michael as opposed to just more of “scary boogeyman kills people.” I can understand why it’s not going to be for most but I like what they were going for. It wasn’t wrapping up the whole franchise as much as it was showing those who survived a traumatic experience trying to move on from it. I will say, the entire town gathering to watch Michael put in the grinder was a bit much. Think just burning his body would have visually come across better.
I liked the stuff with Corey though which most people seem to take the most issue with. Him accidentally killing Jeremy was an extension of the fear Michael had caused and played a part in him losing his humanity. We needed deaths in this movie and I think he did a solid job of filling in where a 65 year old beaten down man would be slacking. After the end of kills and four years doing nothing, watching Michael just slaughter everyone would have felt forced and even more unrealistic. Granted, Corey killing people giving Michael strength was an odd unrealistic choice itself.

But it’s certainly not remotely the worst Halloween movie. Agree with all of this. It’s best to watch it with the lowest of low expectations. Avoid the advertising if you can. Even on Peacock, the preview that plays before the movie is misleading. If you go along for the ride and are open to new directions for these characters, you might find yourself enjoying bits of it. Maybe even getting wrapped up in the plot, although that will require you to abandon all of your preconceived notions of what this trilogy could or “should” have been. Will you come away completely satisfied? I highly doubt it. I do think that Halloween Kills better prepared me for the conclusion, though, for what that’s worth.

Granted, Corey killing people giving Michael strength was an odd unrealistic choice itself. It was ok for what it was trying to convey, I just wished it had more Michael. I think I still prefer Halloween Kills to this. I mean it's basically the Empire Strikes Back of this trilogy and getting to see Michael all full of rage and slaughtering people was fun carnage candy. That scene of Michael coming out of Laurie's engulfed house and attacking the firefighters is probably my favorite part and the score during that scene was fantastic.

Really the more I think about it, the more I think I love it. The themes it tackles. The Season Of The Witch weirdness disconnect. The complete differences in the original babysitter (Laurie) and the new babysitter in this one and how Michael effects their lives.
I see a lot of people claiming it ruins the franchise but I think they have to be blinded by nostalgia on this one. The franchise is full of just really bad movies, usually with Michael in really bad knockoff masks. If we are being real, while all of them are fun in their owns ways regardless of how bad they get, I think the Halloween series would have ended up being best with the first three films (1978, part 2, and Season Of The Witch) being the only films made. Carpenters original vision was dope and Season Of The Witch is a blast. Tom Atkins 4 Lyfe.

I liked Halloween Ends. No, it was not scary/suspenseful, nor was it very gory. I can't think of one "iconic" kill from it. It was story based, and while some people did not care for the story, we got the finality that it promised, while maybe not the finality some people wanted.
On another note, the scene from Halloween Kills where Michael Yakuza kicks the car door into that girl's gun causing her to shoot herself in the head is still my favorite moment in cinematic history.
