Wasn’t crazy about how the final episode played out, which sucks because I really enjoyed the rest of this season.

Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. As opposed to the other finale this was a much more satisfying ending.

Eh, I'm not as pissed as I was at the Season 8 finale...just kinda numb to it. They had the perfect opportunity to end this on a cliffhanger and have Dexter and Harrison escape Iron Lake and have a second season where they're on the run from the FBI, etc. Oh well.
At least I've got the Ray Donovan movie/series finale to look forward to on Friday.

Dexter was good for what it was meant to do for us this year with bringing it back. Now there is actually some closure to it.
The show Yellowjackets that follows Dexter has actually become my new favourite show to watch, so thankfully I still have that next week to continue on with.

Loved the final episode. Edge of your seat kinda stuff. We finally got to see Dex locked up, desperate, with no one to turn to or manipulate. That was the only one way it could have ended.
Glad that they gave this show the send off it deserved.
Kinda disappointed we didn't get to see a Dex and Batista scene though.
Also, what the hell was up with Harrison's driving at the end? Kid was driving in the middle of the road.

I really enjoyed this season, and I feel like the ending is now closure to Dexter. On the plus side, can we get a spin off? There's surely enough in the Harrison character/story that something will happen.

I mean, I'll obviously watch it if one comes out but I'm not sure how he would do as the lead role.

If they're even considering a spin-off, they need to wait a long while. There's loads of people pissed off online and then teasing something today that ended up being just a physical release of New Blood pissed people off even more. In a lot of people's minds, the ability for them to up a finale not just once, but TWICE is a huge slap in the face. To me, the finale is episode 9.

The season was the best since season 2 until that ending. They didn’t earn it at all.
I’d spent pretty much the entire run of dexter looking forward to everyone learning who he was, him being on the run etc. What’s worse is they teased that was the direction they’d be going but that’ll never happen because they killed him off. We didn’t even get the whole Batista/Dexter confrontation the finale teased.
Honestly I think this was a far worse ending than S8.

Wouldn't Molly Park have recognized that Jim Lindsay looks a lot like the husband of one of the Trinity killer's victims? A picture had to have come up during her research.

Wouldn't Molly Park have recognized that Jim Lindsay looks a lot like the husband of one of the Trinity killer's victims? A picture had to have come up during her research. I think the picture of Rita she uses for her podcast is one of Rita with Dexter. Molly really should have been a big part in unravelling the clues to who Dexter really was. They showed early on how her fan base could help her find people and it could have been an easy way to explain why she was really there. She could have even figured out that Dexter knew Trinity as maybe someone would have sent her some pictures of when Dexter was pretending to be someone else and work with Trinity's charity group. Her having diehard fans that would send her more information and pictures of her past podcast subjects, would have been a way better way of having Dexters world come crashing down around him, than the Sheriff just putting random things together that didn't even fully match back to original show.

Why not make this series have more episodes to really tie things up more appropriately?
I just have a real problem with Angela’s police work in figuring out Dexter. Suspicions are 1 thing but her results just came way to easy. I mean M99 (Etorphine) vs Ketamine. (These are 2 different drugs) She googled Ketamine Miami homicide & the Bay Harbor butcher comes up. Those bodies had M99 not Ketamine. And she even told Dexter “The body in the water had Ketamine.” Angela spent only a few mins (it seemed) on trying to pin the death of her friend on Kurt, she was suspicious of him with his son & then she just abandoned that to just focus on finding out who Dex really is.
Dexter shouldn’t have killed Matt & should’ve just focused on Kurt. Dexter should’ve done his regular recon work. Finding out Kurt was the killer of the missing girls & have it come down to Dex killing Kurt & Angela killing Dex after witnessing him kill Kurt.

I gave the finale a second viewing where my judgment wasn't overshadowed by excitement like it was on the first viewing.
Still really liked it. Much better than the original final, which goes without saying.
I didn't like how Dexter decided to try and escape the jail cell though. His story was plausible and all Angela had was circumstantial evidence. With a good lawyer, he would have walked. Even I believed it and I knew he was lying. I'm guessing he didn't want to meet Batista though, or he was getting desperate. Apart from the season three finale, we've never seen Dex in a situation like that so it was refreshing to see him in trouble. It still annoys me that we didn't get to see Angel in Iron Lake too, even if it was just him driving past Harrison at the end.
Apart from the inconsistency regarding the two tranquilizers, which I can only just overlook, this was a really great season. I gave the series a rewatch in the lead-up to this. Four was still my favourite but I'd say this overtakes it. Kurt was an awesome villain. Extending this season to the normal twelve episodes would have been ideal to give him a little bit more of a backstory though, and exactly how he found out that Dex killed Mat seeing as it isn't explained.
I'm hoping theres no spin off involving Harrison. Hes a decent character but not enough to hold a whole TV show though.

They really dropped the ball not giving us a Batista and Dexter reunion scene.
