So which of the first 4 Metallica albums is your favorite? I went ahead and left off the No Life 'Til Leather demo and the Garage Days EP.
I'm gonna have to go with Justice. I know it's not perfect...the production is what it is and the lack of bass is obvious. Same things we've all heard hundreds of times...but that's what i've always loved about the album. It separates it from the other 3 before it. The band was going through hell at the time suffering from the loss of Cliff, and it really adds to the tension on the album. It's easily their most progressive album ever, plus it also has my all time favorite Metallica song...Blackened.
All 4 of these albums are legendary and will stand the test of time. Kill 'Em All is great and a groundbreaker...but with some of the songs being written by Dave Mustaine before he was kicked out of the band...it's always been hard for me to consider this a full blown Metallica album. Still...classic bangers such as Four Horsemen, Motorbreath, No Remorse, etc....ahhhh. So good. Bangers. Also, Kirk Hammett's shining moment on this album imo. His leads are so fierce and rip your face off.
I was tempted to put Ride The Lightning because it was my first album I got from the band back in elementary school after hearing For Whom the Bell Tolls on the radio. The album is perfect imo. Even the weaker songs like Trapped Under Ice and Escape fit the atmosphere of the album and aren't near as bad as people give them credit for. Also...Fight Fire with Fire and Creeping Death...c'mon now. Still...had songs that were cowritten by Mustaine. lol
Master of Puppets is another perfect one. Essential to anyone's music collection, just like Lightning. So heavy and groovy AF. Battery, title track, The Thing That Should Not Be, Orion, etc....bangin stuff. A true metal classic.
Which one means the most to you guys and why? Also put favorite songs from the band or whatever else you wanna share.
