That seems contradictory though…like a merch deal probably wouldn’t put them out of any money unless they are paying a company to make products for them as opposed to having a company license them. Which they probably are… I doubt if any manufacturers were beating down the doors of the mlw offices begging to have rights to produce their toys. It was probably the other way around and they had to pay a company to develop the product for them to sell themselves and profit from. Whatever company is producing their figures surely had better options if they were pursuing a license. Impact doesn’t even have a line. I say all that to say, mlw likely has money invested in the toy line unlikely with other sought after companies who simply sign over licensing rights and sit back while the profits roll in.

Correct -- or, given MLW's extremely low fan base, what quality figure company would think they would turn a profit with these figures. I don't see it happening..

Honestly I only knew mlw for a long time because of the podcasts like something to wrestle which was on the mlw network initially
Then because they had the new hart foundation on their roster

I’m not knocking their product, I just don’t know how many of these indies stay afloat. Neither do the wrestlers. I’ve asked a few. I’ve been at Indy shows where they have several big names like moose, Brian cage, Willie Mack, Rich swann and dozens of smaller name guys on the card with about 50 people in the audience. How can they afford to pay even one of those big name guys? It’s a mystery. But however they manage it, they’re not gonna be able to fool any reputable toy company into producing a line of toys. All they’d have to do is go to a show, see the small turn out, and the jig would be up.

MLW’s cash flow has been a mystery to me as well.
I’ve tried watching their show a few times but each time I did, there was some jackass in the audience using an airhorn seemingly nonstop. It made it unwatchable for me.

Yep -- couldn't say it better. MLW does not live in reality

The last episode of Azteca Underground sure looked like an audience of 50 but the previous episode and tapings in Philly looked substantial. Not exactly "I want to get into business with this company" sized crowd but a decent size.

GCW seems to be talked about more than MLW
If feels like WWE / AEW are the big dogs (the WWF / WCW) and GCW could be the ECW going back to the 90s as a reference point
Impact is just impact - such a shame because TNA had a couple of opportunities to really make a mark. There’s been a few times in the past they had really good rosters, figures, games and then unfortunately blew it

I wish ROH, MLW, and Impact would swallow their pride and sell to TK. Then I'd like for TK to continue those promotions as is. Don't raid talent, etc. Just be able to keep them afloat better ... and give me action figures. GCW can be the ECW as I know they won't sell anytime soon.

I watched genesis 2012 the other day: Jeff Hardy v Bobby roode for the title, monsters ball match abyss v bully Ray, angle v storm, crimson and Morgan v Joe snd Magnus, d’von v Pope, 4 way: Austin Aries v kid cash v Sorensen v zema ion Some great talent there

I'm talking a good lot of years ago, but it seems a lifetime ago now. I haven't watched Impact in years and honestly have no interest in doing so, but there was a number of years there that it was my #1 priority wrestling wise.

I attended TNA uk shows and the crowd was always full and pumped for it. Infact I was invited to a couple of the british bootcamp launch parties lol Good time following TNA then. Even in the Hogan years when some people lost interest it was good Motor city machine guns, beer money etc - TNA ruled the tag scene

Seeing more stuff about the lucha figures etc got me thinking about these
Have we even had word who’s making these? Never mind seeing an actual sketch/mock up/prototype etc?

Nothing, all that was out there was those original rumors that it was the same people making the Lucha figures with MLW branding. Court has a habit of speaking on things way too early before they are even close to being finalized.

I do wonder if from what others have said they announced the line before they had really started the actual work on it

Yesterda, Court Bauer said in a tweet that the figures are coming next year and Jacob Fatu is part of the first series:

I haven’t watched a ton of MLW in my life but they seem to have a lot of positives going for them. They have several toyetic people on their roster too…it’s just a shame that things didn’t work out with La Parka because those figures could have been amazing if done right!
Fatu was the big one I wanted to see made but Hammerstone, Tankman, Pagano, would be really fun to see as well.
