So I'm going to the Megadeth/Lamb of God show tomorrow in Irving, and....I'm honestly not as pumped about it as I have been, and idk why. Maybe because Ellefson got kicked out of the band, but yeah...Mustaine has always been a big influence on me as a musician, so it will be cool to see him live as I never have.
So I'm just curious, has anyone here seen Megadeth live before and got any stories? I've seen many of their shows on YouTube, but of course it's not the same as being there in person.
Also list favorite songs or albums, stories you have of the band, etc.
Rattle yer GD head!

No, but Megadeth is a band I'vd always wanted to see. Shame you don't live in/near NJ. Ellerson is appearing at Chiller Theatre this year. chillertheatre.com/gt/gtc4.htm

My favorite album of theirs is easily Peace Sells, followed by Rust in Peace. Youthanasia comes in third for me. Very underrated album and Dave's best vocal work imo.
Favorite songs: Rattlehead Wake Up Dead The Conjuring Good Mourning/Black Friday Tornado of Souls
Bangers galore

Hope the show was good. Dave's voice isn't anywhere what it used to be, but cancer will do that to a person. I really want to see their current lineup with Kiko Loureiro on lead guitar. That guy is pretty damn amazing.
I saw them back on the Rust In Peace 20th anniversary tour. They played a pretty good show, nothing I would say was outstanding or anything but Chris Broderick was the lead guitarist at the time and it happened to be his birthday, so Chuck Billy (Testament were one of the supporting acts) came out on stage with a cake. It went into the crowd obviously and that moment alone has always made it a memorable show me.

The show was a blast. I finally got amped when I got inside Toyota Music Factory. I love the layout of the place and the sound is incredible. I was on the floor in the center, row U...just a few rows between me and the pit.
Trivium was aight
Lamb of God was amazing. First time seeing them as well and I'm def a fan for life now. Always been a fan of their music, so it was cool to see. I really think they might've upstaged Megadeth this night. Killer sound and energy. After the last song, Randy Blythe goes "EVERYBODY GIMME A BIG RIC FLAIR WOOOOO" and everyone woo'd. Cherry on top.
Megadeth kicked ass. Getting to see them play Conjuring live was a moment I'll never forget. It felt so amazing to be yelling all the lyrics and feeling the energy of the music. Can't say enough good things about the sound in that place. A few Jack and Cokes made it sound even better. Kiko absolutely crushed it. He nailed all of the classic solos perfectly. Also...Dirk Verbeuren...dayyyum. Dude is on point. Once again, nailed every single lick. I'll be seeing them anytime they come again, same with Lamb of God.
Here's the setlist:
Hangar 18
Take No Prisoners (Tour debut)
The Conjuring (Tour debut)
She-Wolf (Tour debut)
A tout le monde (Tour debut)
Trust
Conquer or Die!
Dystopia
Tornado of Souls
Symphony of Destruction
Peace Sells
Holy Wars... The Punishment Due

I was thoroughly disappointed when they didn't encore with Crush Em, with a giant montage of Universal Soldier playing behind them.

I’ve been a fan of Megadeth since the early 90’s. I’ve never seen them live, but I do have a funny story...
In 2006 I had developed an intestinal infection (longer story) but was hell bent on going to Wizard World Chicago comic con anyway. I live west of Ann Arbor, Michigan so I stopped at a Meijer in Jackson on my way to the convention so I could get a couple prescriptions filled (antibiotic and painkiller). Well, the pain in my stomach made me bend over like a severe hunchback so I decided to pick up an adjustable cane in the prescription area to help me stand more upright. While waiting for the drugs to be filled, I checked the music section and found Megadeth’s greatest hits for a good price. So at checkout, I placed an old man cane and a CD of Megadeth’s greatest hits onto the counter... I’d like to think I then said God Bless America!

I know it gets a lot of recognition by Megadeth diehards, but In My Darkest Hour honestly deserves even more praise, IMO. Top 5 'Deth song for me.
Sleepwalker, too. Great song from the later albums.

I saw Megadeth in 1993 and they were the openers for Aerosmith which was really strange to me back then and stranger today to think about Megadeth opening for Aerosmith. I wasn't a big Aerosmith fan but I really wanted to see Megadeth live. It was shortly after I saw them that Aerosmith kicked Megadeth from the tour.

Love Megadeth my favorite of the Big 4 thrash bands Peace Sells just had a swing to it, probably because Chris and Gar were jazz musicians I saw them live in 1998 great band enjoy most of their albums
