Ok here’s something I’m hoping someone here can explain....why is the CS Rock & Roll Express so expensive? ....I understand that they were limited edition & I’m thinking a TRU exclusive as all of the tag team 2 packs were but why does this one cost so much more on eBay? ....Right now one can buy the Midnight Express on there for around $120 or so which is strange because the Midnights were released in the very same fashion & that one is also the only figures of them together as a team that has ever been made....I just don’t get why the circumstances around their releases are very similar but the prices aren’t these days because neither set should be any more “rare” than the other....I have both teams Moc & I want another set of the Rock & Roll to open, paint correctly & then reseal in the package but not for the Moc $400-$500 asking price (even loose are close to $200)....it’s ridiculously absurd because I even picked up a Moc Ivan & Nikita Koloff on there a few weeks ago for $140

R&R are the most famous and in-demand of those teams, and the two pack is the only figure representation of them ever made.

popularity.
I help run a merch stand in the midsouth/midwest. Every single show we have people ask about them.

No they were released in series 9 along with the British Bulldogs and Ivan & Nikita Koloff

All due respect to the various incarnations of the Midnight Express, but R&R are undoubtedly the bigger name, especially by their recent WWE HOF/NJPW/AEW resurgence appearances.

Don't forget that Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson are also very active still on the independent doing appearances, autograph sessions, etc. (especially Ricky; he was working nearly every weekend somewhere before the pandemic). The Midnight Express hardly make any appearances other than the occasional Bobby Eaton appearance; health pending of course.

I literally remember over night stocking the RNR Two Pack on shelves when I worked as an over night stocker at Toys R Us back when I was 20. Haha

I have this set autographed by Ricky and Robert. They commented on the rarity of it when I met them. I got the set at the Toys R Us in Time Square. They literally had 50+ sets of nothing but the Rock n Roll Express.

I’m guessing they’re so expensive because so many people passed on them because they weren’t painted correctly. I was a hardcore classics collector and I just couldn’t bring myself to buy them.

I worked at Toys R Us as well during the height of Classic Superstars 2 packs. I’m so glad I did, I would have never gotten those sets lol. If you think the employees take the toys before they get to shelves, typically they don’t even know what the hell the stuff is...having said that, I knew and I took them 😆. Look, I would have NEVER gotten that Demolition set otherwise!
I still have them and enjoy them to this day though so the story has a happy ending
