Yeah, Doink and Flair need to be removed - Mattel never said that they wouldn't be made. You have to look at the context of the original post of both threads - one person saw an eBay listing where the seller said he had a Doink sculpt and the original poster speculated/jumped pretty fast to concluding that Mattel worked on a sculpt and a release could be imminent. The other thread was the original poster speculating that Ric Flair's fig release wouldn't be "too long" since Flair had just quit TNA, was good friends with HHH/HBK and was going to attend the Hall of Fame ceremony. All Bill stated was that a Doink sculpt had not been previously worked on at that time and that Flair was not signed to a deal/scanned and if plans changed (i.e. he signed a deal), then he would be in the line. There was an Entrance Great Flair listed for preorder on TRU.com Jan 1 2010 along with Piper, Triple H, Undertaker, Jericho, Rock, HBK & Rey for a couple hours before everything other than Series 1 was removed. I had preordered it and was in my order history for over a month before TRU cancel it. And someone from MDT (not sure if it was Bill or the other Bill from Mattel that was here in 2010) said there was no Entrance Greats Flair or any Ric Flair being released. Every other figure that was listed was eventually released except for the Flair. But that was when they were saying Flair wasn’t getting a figure. But he was never someone they said they wouldn’t make just someone they couldn’t make yet.

Doink and Ric Flair says they have not been scanned or sculpted for a figure. Nothing about not ever having one. I don’t think Bill envisioned being able to make a Chyna and I think I can say I didn’t really either. I’m glad things changed and WWE changed their stand on her but who was to really say at that point she would be coming out? There was always a small, faint glimmer of hope, but I dont think anybody truly thought Chyna would ever be made.

But since she passed and she didn’t become a huge adult film start I think it helped sad to say.

Bill did say at some point that Doink would never be made. I don't think it was here though. I'm pretty sure it was in a q and a from like 9 years ago.

Bill ruling out Doink surprised me. A marketable figure of a well known 90's gimmick.

Figures aside. I do remember them saying they couldn’t give us Rey’s rib cage tattoo, HBK knee pads and other things. I don’t understand the reason behind Rey’s tat though.

Rey’s tattoo apparently translates with a swear in it or something, that’s what was said as far as I remember (getting kind of hard to remember stuff from 12 years ago)

Benoit is the only one I can comfortably say will never get a figure from Mattel under any circumstance.
I love you.

This is why we as collectors should be thankful to see Jazwares come into the game. Mattel has been complacent over the past 3-5 years, I doubt their even trying to sign new talent, then having to deal with wwe on who to sign makes it even dumber. Jazwares will and hopefully be signing up people like Owen Hart, Repo Man, Cornette, Haku, Dink , Mo . I mean obviously I’d rather mattel do them, but obviously it won’t happen until it’s probably to late.

Wwe has to have them under a merchandise deal for them to get a figure

Luger is another one who I believe Bill said wouldn't happen. I think it had something to do with the situation around Liz's death

So maybe by then they’ll get smarter and start signing more to deals

There are very, very few true non-negotiables in business negotiations. Mattel has a financial incentive for WWE to sign talent directly, so why fight it? That doesn't mean the consumer should be satisfied with it.

Kind’ve ridiculous WWE and Mattel never bothered to give Chyna recognition until she died! I understand everyone’s opinion of her choices of entertainment after wrestling is going to be different. I personally did not think anything of it other than what it was....grown woman doing what she wanted.
What pisses me off about it now though is WWE is profiting off her name/character with merchandise (like figures) but they refused to do anything while she was alive! Makes me sick! Loved the last two figures though!
There’s been “superstars” that have done a lot worse in my opinion....Jimmy Snuka for example.

I think it’s safe to say had she not died, Chyna still would be on the no fly list. She made a porn in which she banged actors playing Vince and Steph. Haha *ahem* One Night in Chyna I mean yeah that one was bad but it was just a sex tape. She did a few wrestling related professional porn videos years later. Those doomed her at the time.

Mattel is gonna have to figure something out soon. As someone who only collects classic figures I’m so disappointed lately with the same wrestlers getting figures over and over again. There are so many stars from the 80’s & 90’s that would make an awesome figure but instead all we get is Ultimate Warriors, Macho Man & Triple H.
Mattel needs to push back against WWE and let Mattel sign there own wrestlers to deals. It would be in their own interest to make more money.

JC Motors didn't Bill say mattel would never make shirt molded figures right after they got the license ? Then a few years later walmart had there own exclusive basic line of these. Plus i just saw that upcoming terrible basic edge. But i guess it does not count anymore since he mentioned he does not work on basics anymore.
