I’ll clarify that I took missing the initial preorder#1 as a sign to throw in the towel on preordering future full sets. I guess I was looking for a way out of the completist rabbit hole and I’m using this as justification. I’ll give the hunt game a try! Anything that breaks you out of the completionist mindset is good, in my opinion. Just buy the ones you want. Not everything, out of some sort of duty or compulsion.
100% yes to this -- this is the difference between a hobby and an addiction...

What does getting figures on pre-order 1 instead pre-order 2 have to do with being a completionist?

I'm with ya. I only have series 1 (no Brandi), waiting on series 2 to be shipped. Havent ordered any more series yet because of the mark up RSC has on them. If I find in store they will go to my son first to play with, and if I lucky to find 2 of each I can have a set. If not, I'm kinda over this already with how this was handled and how hard they made it to get these. And you cant blame covid, with how the main guy was stroking himself talking about making things rare and hard to get in the first place.

These figures are still super scarce in my area. Stores are sold out within an hour of showing stock.

At the end of the day if this line is going to successful it has to be at least semi-obtainable at retail. There are core collectors who will pre-order all or a majority of sets. But that's not going to be sustainable longterm. I'm cautiously optimistic that it'll get there. But it needs to happen sooner than later. I honestly hoped that would be happening by this or the next wave but I'm beginning to wonder. I'd much rather just go retail hunting than paying this much of a premium and waiting forever.

Honestly I thought availability would open up by S3, but it's just not happening. I'm hoping the fact that S3 chases haven't shown up means that there are still a lot of cases yet to hit shelves. But we'll see.

Definitely happy to just keep pre-ordering off RSC. Tried hunting these in the wild on Day 1, after 3 straight weeks of frantic searching I got lucky and scored a box of series 1 and everyone except Nick on a second trip (no Brandi in either case). Never seen series 2 in stock and even with these hitting Target everywhere they get snapped up almost immediately. I guess it's a good thing these are selling very well, and not warming shelves like old WCW / ECW figs.

I have only physically seen Series 1 and MJF, Page and Fenix from series 2. Saw the series 2 figures while shopping one evening.
I went hunting for series 1 and that was a chore so I told myself I would never again hunt for them and pay the 3-4 more per figure to have them from Ringside.

between this and the scalpers thread in the Mattel board it's clear that some people truly do need to give this hobby a break.

But they are 6-7 or Jungle boy and Dinoguy is 8 bucks more each than it would be instore. I buy two sets, and that extra adds up fast, you are talking multiple $20 figures you could buy instore that you are paying extra at RSC. 42 bucks more to be exact for series 5. Im not bitching about RSC (yes they are price gouging) You guys would complain about sellers charging that much on ebay also. Im complaing about jazzwares making these so damn hard to get, that collecting them has become pointless.

Shipping costs are insane which only adds to it. Crap exchanges rates that get skimmed by PayPal or your bank. Yeesh. Adds up fast.

That’s my issue..the fact that it’s $45 more per set is a little ridiculous but if you want guaranteed safely shipped figures it’s a great option but when they’re coming out with set after set not even a month apart it starts to hurt the wallet. I think Jazwares needs to get together with ringside so they can lower the prices and have a higher inventory for fans/collectors.

It store they would be 21 and change.

And the minute they lower the price for RSC then the big retailers will demand the same price break, and at that point the figures will immediately become less detailed and have less articulation (look at the $10 higher price point of WWE Ultimate Editions).

Either Ringside pays more than Walmart or they’re just straight price gouging. Either way ringside seems to be the majority of the sales since they are one of the hardest things to find in store so I see a win win situation if jazwares was to use ringside as the main source of getting the figures the same price as retail with only having to pay shipping. I have yet to see one on the shelf due to no shipment, scalpers, or employees taking the case before it reaches the shelves.
