Hey everyone, the Wrestlemania IX card for my rebooking project is posted in the help board but I’m going to post the backstories for the matches in this board as they will be quite detailed. They will all be posted in this thread. On that note, here is the first backstory for the match at my Wrestlemania IX between Bam Bam Bigelow and The Undertaker! Enjoy.
The Undertaker vs. Bam Bam Bigelow
Todd Pettengill is seen in the WWF editing room and turns to the camera “Welcome to the countdown to, what will be the biggest and grandest spectacle in the history of the World Wrestling Federation, Wrestlemania IX!!! Over the next hour, we are going to be looking at the matches that will be shaking Caesars Palace to its core and the stories behind them, starting with a clash that even the Roman Collessium itself wouldn’t be able to contain.......it’s The Underrrrrtaker facing the ‘Beast from the East’ Bam Bam Bigelow.”
A video package (which is narrated by Todd) is shown from the Royal Rumble where Bam Bam Bigelow made his return to the WWF showing him defeating the Big Boss Man earlier in the night. The VT then cuts to the Royal Rumble match where Bigelow is eliminated by The Undertaker. Bigelow reacts to this badly and re-enters the ring and clotheslines The Undertaker over the top rope eliminating him from the match. The assault continues, Bigelow decimating him, consistently throwing him into the steel steps before delivering numerous headbutts to a prone Undertaker on the floor outside of the ring. This attack effectively eliminates The Undertaker from the match much to the shock of Paul Bearer. After a few minutes, The Undertaker sits up and attempts to catch up with Bigelow who has already left the ringside area. Paul Bearer drags Undertaker back by his hair trying to control his monster.
The VT then cuts to Monday Night Raw the night after the Rumble, Jan 25th. Bam Bam Bigelow is in one on one action with Hacksaw Jim Duggan and picks up a fairly easy win, Bigelow showing dominance. After the match Bigelow climbs to the top rope and delivers 3 diving headbutts onto Duggan, officials trying to block him from being able to nail the headbutts but he flies through the crowd of officials. As Bigelow scales to the top rope for a fourth headbutt, the lights in the Manhattan Centre start to flicker and the crowd erupts. Bigelow looks spooked and heads back to the locker room while EMT’s attend to Jim Duggan in the ring.
We then go to the following week on RAW (Feb 1st) and Bam Bam Bigelow comes to the ring and states that he isn’t scared of the deadman or his ‘magical’ powers. In Bam Bam’s world there is no such thing as magic and it’ll take more than flickering lights to scare him. Bigelow then says that he destroyed The Undertaker once and if Taker has any guts he will come out and face him instead of trying to spook him. There is no response from Undertaker and Bigelow looks pleased with this and states “just as I thought, Undertaker is a coward”.
A few weeks go by with Bigelow beating various lower midcard talent on RAW including Tito Santana and Kamala. He also introduces his new manager Luna Vachon on Feb 15th. Bigelow continues to goad The Undertaker but again, no response from the deadman.
The VT cuts to RAW on March 15th where Bigelow is in action against youngster Scott Taylor. Bigelow decimates Scott Taylor but after the match, we see Paul Bearer appear by the entrance! Paul Bearer stares at Bigelow for a moment before sheepishly returning back to the locker room. Bigelow and Luna are confused in the ring, Bigelow wanting to go after Paul Bearer however the lights begin to flicker yet again!! Bigelow looks a little intimidated this time and Bigelow states he wants the mind games to stop and he wants to put an end to this aura of the deadman at Wrestlemania!!
On March 22nd RAW, Bigelow comes to the ring with no match scheduled and conspicuous by her absence, no Luna Vachon. Bigelow states he wants Undertaker’s response for Wrestlemania right now. Undertaker doesn’t respond and Bigelow then states “Okay deadman, this is how you wanna play it? You chose this. Bring him out Luna!!!” Then we see Luna Vachon dragging Paul Bearer out from the back with tape around his mouth and his hands gaffer taped behind his back! Luna rolls Bearer into the ring and Bigelow puts the boots to Paul Bearer!!! Bigelow positions Bearer in the centre of the ring and climbs to the top rope looking like he’s going to hit a top rope headbutt when suddenly ‘GONG!’ The lights in the arena go out for a moment and when they come back on, The Undertaker is laying where Paul Bearer was!! Taker sits up and Bigelow climbs down from the top rope and slowly with a smirk on his face, backs away down the aisle with Luna Vachon! The lights in the arena go out again for a moment and when they come back on, Undertaker and Paul Bearer are nowhere to be found! Taker’s voice sounds over the speakers, “Bam Bam Bigelow.......at Wrestlemania......you will Rest......In.......Peaceee.” Bigelow looks bemused and he shakes his head in disbelief while a smirk appears across his face.
We see Todd Pettengill in the editing room again “What a match up this is going to be! Two monsters colliding at Wrestlemania IX, you won’t wanna miss this!”

’The Bad Guy’ Razor Ramon vs. ‘The Narcissist’ Lex Luger w/Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan
Todd Pettengill is in the WWF editing room “Another match you wont want to miss at Wrestlemania is a clash between two arrogant, cocky superstars who are on a collision course heading towards the top of the World Wrestling Federation. I’m talking about ‘The Bad Guy’ oozing machismo Razor Ramon taking on Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan’s newest client....’The Narcissist’ Lex Luger. Let’s take you back and show you the events leading up to this one.”
Various pieces of footage (narrated by Todd) air, starting from Survivor Series 1992 where Razor Ramon was the tag team partner of Ric Flair against Macho Man and Mr. Perfect. It shows the closing moments of that match that ended in a DQ. The video then shows us the ‘Loser Leaves Town’ match between Mr. Perfect and Ric Flair on Monday Night Raw on Jan 25th. It shows the closing moments of the match with Mr Perfect picking up the win and also shows an interview with Bobby Heenan beside himself that Flair is gone.
We then fast forward to Monday Night Raw on February 15th in which during a Razor Ramon match, Bobby Heenan on commentary quips “Y’know he’s the reason that Flair’s gone don’t ya!? That greaseball Ramon. I did blame Mr. Perfect but if Flair had chosen a real partner at the Survivor Series, none of this would of happened and Flair wouldn’t of needed to face Perfect in that match!”
The following week on Raw, Ramon defeats PJ Walker easily and during the match, Bobby Heenan further verbally berates Razor on commentary, talking about him being a greaseball and that he isn’t fit to lace Flair’s boots. Vince McMahon on commentary tells Heenan “Ya better watch your mouth there Bobby, you better hope the ‘Bad Guy’ doesn’t hear you!”
The same thing continues on Raw for a couple more weeks during Razor Ramon matches, meanwhile Lex Luger is on a dominant streak winning every match he is in easily, with his forearm.
Finally on Raw on March 15th, Razor Ramon defeats Russ Greenburg before heading to the announce table. Razor swipes the headset from Bobby Heenan’s head while Heenan tries to weasel his way out of trouble. Razor grabs Heenan by his jacket and marches him to the ring! Ramon grabs a mic and addresses Heenan’s recent comments “Listen mang....I heard what you been sayin and I don’t like it. Y’know chico....weasel....I’m sick of your crap. I’m not the reason Flair is gone...the ‘nature boy’ just couldn’t cut it here in the World Wrestling Federation he didn’t have the cahonas, chico. As for you....you’re just a big mouth punk who can’t back it up. They call you ‘The Brain’? I see no evidence so far but you carry on talking mang and there’ll be evidence all over this mat. It’s time to carve...you....up!” Heenan looks scared witless and begs Ramon not to hurt him but just as Ramon looks as though he’s going to hit him with the Razor’s Edge, Razor is blindsided by ‘The Narcissist’ Lex Luger with a forearm!! Razor is out cold in the middle of the ring and Luger helps Heenan to his feet. Heenan grabs the mic off the mat and taunts Ramon “See Razor you aint so bad now!! I knew you would attack me Ramon cos’ you’re a coward! So I enlisted the help of my newest client! This man is the physical embodiment of perfection and at Wrestlemania he wants to prove it. So if you have the guts greaseball, accept our challenge for Wrestlemania!” Heenan throws the mic down onto an unconscious Ramon and leaves the ring with Luger to a chorus of boos from the crowd.
We then cut to Superstars the following week where Lex Luger was one on one with Koko B Ware. Luger hits Koko with the forearm but is attacked out of nowhere by Razor Ramon!! Razor takes Luger to the ground and the two start rolling around the ring before it is broken up by officials! Luger and Heenan head towards the back while Ramon takes the mic. “You wanna cheap shot me chico? How about you fight me face to face, you want me at Wrestlemania? You got it mang. Weasel....if you think of getting involved....you’ll get yours too”
We then see footage of the last Raw before Mania in which ‘The Narcissist’ faces Mr. Perfect. Luger knocks Mr Perfect out with his forearm and starts to put the boots to him despite the referee already calling for the bell. Heenan starts putting the boots to Perfect as well until Razor makes his way down to the ring with a steel chair in hand!! Luger and Heenan high tail it out of there and Razor looks ready to fight!
We return to Todd in the editing room “What a huge match at Wrestlemania, can you imagine what will happen when Razor Ramon finally gets his hands on Lex Luger! Well what if Razor finally gets his hands on Heenan!? Or will ‘The Narcissist’ continue his dominant start to his career in the World Wrestling Federation and knock the ‘Bad Guy’ out cold again? I have a feeling Razor is going to shut the mouth of Bobby Heenan’s and maybe for good, who knows!? We can dream right?.......One thing’s for sure you wont wanna miss it and it’s gonna take place at Wrestlemania IX!”

Tatanka vs. Doink The Clown
Todd Pettengill is seen in the editing room at the WWF headquarters “There’ll be all kinds of fun and games at Wrestlemania IX but one part of the fun and games that Tatanka will want to put a stop to are the ones perpetrated by Doink. Let’s take you back and show you the events leading up to this one”
A video package airs (narrated by Todd) showing us Superstars on March 6th, when Tatanka is going one on one with Louie Spicolli. Tatanka hits the Tomahawk chop but while Tatanka is doing his native American dance around the ring, we see Doink making his way down the aisle! Doink squirts various members of the crowd in the front row while manically laughing. Tatanka picks up the win in his match as Doink approaches the ring. Tatanka sees Doink and stares at him. Doink looks innocently before laughing at Tataka and making his way back to the locker room.
The following week on Superstars the same thing happens. Tatanka picks up the win over Brian West but this time Doink comes down to the ring wearing a head dress just before Tatanka pins his opponent. Doink carefully approaches the ring and steals Tatanka’s sacred eagle feather which was in the corner of the ring!! Doink scampers away from the ringside area while laughing. Tatanka looks for his eagle feathers in the corner of the ring and looks confused until members of the crowd in the front row indicate that Doink took them! Tatanka sprints back to the locker room to find Doink!
On Raw (March 22nd) Doink with the head dress comes out to the ring for an in ring interview with Vince McMahon. McMahon asks Doink why he has targeted Tatanka and his eagle feathers! Doink responds but doesn’t say anything but instead makes native American calling noises, covering his mouth with his hand. Vince looks perplexed but all of a sudden Tatanka’s music hits!! Tatanka races to the ring but Doink jumps out of the ring on the side nearest the announce table. Vince holds the mic up for Tatanka to speak while Doink fiddles with the eagle feathers he stole. “Okay clown you’ve had your fun. You have no idea how much those feathers mean to me and my people. (Doink makes pretend crying gestures) The joke’s gone too far and if I have to beat you to get them back, I will!” While Tatanka is on the mic, another Doink appears from under the ring behind Tatanka! Nobody can believe what they are seeing and the second Doink clatters Tatanka from behind with a cast!! This sends Tatanka to the mat and the Doinks escape to the back, mirroring each other’s moves and laughing. Before heading through the curtain, they both mock Tatanka’s native call simultaneously.
On the last Raw before WM, President Jack Tunney announces that Tatanka will get his shot at redemption at Wrestlemania and will face Doink one on one.
Todd Pettengill is back in the editing room “Will Tatanka finally get his revenge on the evil Doink? Will there be only one Doink at Wrestlemania or will Tatanka yet again be seeing double vision? One thing is for sure in the mood Tatanka is in, the joke could be over for Doink.”

Shawn Michaels (c) vs. Mr Perfect - WWF Intercontinental Championship
Todd Pettengill is in the WWF editing studio “A match that people are looking forward to at Wrestlemania will be for the Intercontinental Championship in a battle of egos between the champion Shawn Michaels and the challenger....Mr Perfect. People are predicting a match of the year contender between these two but let’s see how this one came about”.
We see footage (narrated by Todd) from a battle royal to determine the number 1 contender to the Intercontinental Title on Raw (Feb 22nd) Shawn Michaels is on commentary. The battle royal is won by Mr. Perfect who eliminates Papa Shango last to get a shot at Shawn Michaels title. After winning the battle royal, Perfect stands in front of Michaels who is now stood up at the announcers table. The two face off but as Perfect walks away from the ringside area, Michaels ambushes him from behind with a high knee to the back knocking Perfect to the ground in the aisle way! Michaels runs back to the locker room.
The following week on Raw (March 1st) Shawn Michaels has an in ring interview with Vince McMahon. Shawn Michaels states “What I did to Perfect last week was just a taste of what I’m gonna do to him at Wrestlemania. There’s only one ‘perfect’ superstar in the World Wrestling Federation and that’s me, the Heartbreak Kid. I can do anything that Perfect can and better than he can cos I am the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time.” Later in the show there is a pre-recorded vignette with Mr Perfect “Y’know what Shawn, you think you got one over on Mr Perfect last week by cheap shot attacking me from behind but that’s nothing compared to what I’m gonna do at Wrestlemania to take your title and prove once again that I am the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time.”
On Superstars that week, Shawn Michaels appears in a one on one match with Duane Gill. Michaels hits his Teardrop Suplex and covers Gill, however he pulls Gill up after a two count. Michaels then positions Gill for a Perfect Plex and hits it perfectly. Michaels gets an easy win. Michaels taunts Mr Perfect in the camera after his match “That’s why I’m the perfect one”.
On Raw (March 8th) Mr Perfect goes one on one with Tony Demoro. He is about to hit the Perfect Plex however he adjusts his position and sets Demoro up for a Teardrop Suplex! Perfect hits the move and then pins Demoro for an easy 3 count. Perfect grins into the camera and states “Michaels, that’s you at Wrestlemania!!”
On the final Raw before Mania, there is a match in progress between The Nasty Boys and the Beverly Brothers. During the match Vince McMahon on commentary exclaims “We have just received word backstage that there is a fight in progress, let’s see if we can get a camera back there!” We get a camera backstage and it’s Michaels and Perfect trading lefts and rights, brawling on the floor with numerous officials and agents trying to break it up!
We see Todd Pettengill again in the editing room, “These two men couldn’t wait until Wrestlemania to get there hands on each other, imagine what they’ll do in the ring! One thing is for sure, this is going to be a hell of a match. Which of these two great athletes can claim perfection and can rightfully claim to be the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time! We’ll find out at Caesars Palace this Sunday at Wrestlemania!!!”

Bob Backlund vs. Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler
Todd Pettengill continues the Wrestlemania countdown “Wrestlemania is right around the corner and another interesting match will be between two veterans of the ring, the former WWF Champion Bob Backlund squaring off against the self proclaimed ‘King of wrestling’ Jerry Lawler. This one wont be a high flying affair with fancy moves but could be very physical. Let’s take you back and show you the events leading up to this battle between two veterans in our industry.”
Footage airs from Raw on Feb 15th with a special edition of Jerry Lawler’s ‘Kings Court’ featuring Bob Backlund. Lawler belittles Backlund “So tell me Backlund, why have you come crawling back to the World Wrestling Federation after all these years? Especially after you ran away like a coward after losing your title back in 83’!” Backlund looks despondent as King continues “While you were away crying about you losing your title, I was making history and I became the King of the wrestling world! Now you wanna crawl back with your tail between your legs and steal my spotlight! You should be kissing my royal feet, you understand!?” King slaps Backlund across his face! Backlund snaps and nails Lawler with a right hand! The two start to brawl until officials come out and pull them apart.
The following week on Raw, Vince McMahon interviews Bob Backlund at ringside. Backlund is still irate at the disrespect Lawler showed him the previous week and challenges Lawler to a match! McMahon tells Backlund he will try and get Lawler’s response on Superstars this week.
McMahon tries to get a response from Lawler (on commentary) on Superstars. Lawler states “I wouldn’t even waste my energy on Backlund, he doesn’t even deserve to lace up my boots! I dont deal with has-beens McMahon so no, no match!” McMahon responds with “Some would say you may be scared King?” Lawler brushes it off and ignores McMahon.
On Raw on March 8th, Lawler hosted another Kings Court segment this time Lawler promised a surprise guest! Lawler brought out The Iron Sheik!! The man who defeated Bob Backlund for the WWF Championship in December 1983. Lawler talks trash about Backlund but eventually Sheik tells Lawler “Say what you want about Backlund but least he could back it up in the ring. He’s tough which is a lot more than I can say about you!” Lawler looks shocked and angry. “How dare you come on my show and question my toughness! Don’t you know who I am!!? I’m the King, you need to show me respect!” Iron Sheik throws his hands at Lawler as if if to say I’ve had enough of this and goes to walk out the ring. Just as Sheik steps through the middle rope, Lawler attacks him from behind! Lawler puts the boots to the Iron Sheik as the crowd boo. Suddenly outcomes Backlund!! Lawler sees Backlund coming down the aisle and Lawler high tails it out of there!!
That week on Superstars, President Jack Tunney announces that due to Jerry Lawler’s recent actions he will be punished, by being forced to face Bob Backlund at Wrestlemania IX!! Lawler is irate on commentary.
We go back to Todd Pettengill “Can you imagine when Bob Backlund finally gets his hands on Jerry Lawler!? After weeks of Lawler belittling him, Backlund will finally get his hands on Lawler at Wrestlemania and maybe shut the mouth of the ‘Burger King’ forever!”

Yokozuna w/Mr Fuji vs. ‘The Immortal’ Hulk Hogan
Todd Pettengill is in the WWF editing room, “Wrestlemania is just a few short days away and it’s gonna be the greatest spectacle in WWF history. We have our huge double main event which includes the mighty....undefeated.....500lbs Yokozuna with Mr Fuji by his side taking on the immortal Hulk Hogan!! Yokozuna is looking to destroy Hulkamania for good at Wrestlemania and claim a shot at the World Wrestling Federation Championship at the next pay per view, King of the Ring. Let’s show you how this one has come about...”
Footage airs (narrated by Todd) of Hulk Hogan’s return to the WWF which takes place on Monday Night Raw on February 22nd. Vince McMahon welcomes Hulk Hogan into the ring with Hogan giving a passionate promo “It’s so good to back brother!! Y’know things just haven’t been the same for me since I left. All I can think about is when I’m gonna get my shot at the WWF Championship. I can’t wait to show the world that I’m better than ever, me and my 24 inch pythons are ready to run wild in the World Wrestling Federation and I’m gonna get my title back soon!! So.....watcha gonna do when Hulk Hogan and his Hulkamaniacs run wild on youuuuu” just as Hogan finishes his promo, Yokozuna’s music hits and outcome Mr Fuji and Yokozuna!
Mr Fuji asks for the mic, “So you think it’s that easy Hogan? You think you can come back and just get a shot at the title. Hogan, I’d like you to meet the man who is getting the next shot at the WWF title......my mighty Yokozuna!” Yokozuna superkicks Hogan and sends him to the mat!!! McMahon scrambles out of the ring but Yokozuna continues his assault! Yoko gives Hogan a leg drop, before dragging Hogan to the corner. Yoko hits the Banzai Drop while Fuji laughs into the mic. The fans boo, some fans look shocked as Yokozuna and Fuji leave the ring. Hogan is taken away on a stretcher.
A few weeks go by with Yokozuna picking up easy wins against enhancement talent. After beating Brian West on Raw on March 8th, it is announced by Vince McMahon that Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake has challenged Yokozuna for next week’s Raw! The Barber wanting to get revenge for his friend.
On March 15th Raw, Yokozuna destroys Beefcake, beating him with the Banzai Drop. After the match, Mr Fuji grabs the microphone and starts taunting Hogan. Just as Yokozuna is about to hit a second Banzai Drop, ‘Real American’ hits!! The crowd erupts and Hogan comes charging down the aisle still showing effects of Yokozuna’s attack on Feb 22nd, with a steel chair in hand! Yokozuna and Mr Fuji leave the ring as Hogan starts swinging the chair! Hogan picks Beefcake up and checks on him.
After these events, on Superstars that week, President Jack Tunney announces that Hulk Hogan and Yokozuna will face off at Wrestlemania IX in a second main event!! Tunney states that the winner of the match will officially be the number one contender for the World Wrestling Federation Championship and will receive their title match at the King of the Ring against either Bret Hart or Randy Savage.
We go back to Todd Pettengill “Just like that, the match is set! Two colossal athletes battling it out at Wrestlemania, both hungry for a shot at the WWF Champion! Will the Hulkster hand Yokozuna his first defeat and slay this behemoth? Or will Yokozuna continue his dominance and be one step closer to capturing the WWF Title? I can’t wait to see these two collide at Wrestlemania!!!”

The Steiner Brothers vs. Money Inc (c) - WWF Tag Team Championships
Todd Pettengill continues the countdown to Wrestlemania “Up next we look at the events leading up to the Tag Team Championship match between The Steiner Brothers challenging Money Incorporated.”
We see footage from Raw on March 15th in which a tag team battle royal takes place. We see the closing moments of the match when the final two teams are left, The Steiner Brothers and The Headshrinkers. Fatu charges at Scott Steiner while Samu is trying to eliminate Rick Steiner in the corner. Fatu charges at Scott near the ropes but Scott ducks him and back body drops him over the top rope meaning the Steiners are going to Wrestlemania!!
The following week on Raw, IRS faces Rick Steiner one on one. We see the closing moments of the match in which Ted Dibiase approaches the ringside area with his briefcase. Dibiase climbs up on to the ring apron distracting the referee, meanwhile he kicks his briefcase towards IRS! IRS picks the briefcase up and clocks Rick in the head, picking up a cheap pinfall! Scott Steiner runs out to ringside to check on Rick Steiner whilst Dibiase and IRS head to the back.
Todd Pettengill is back with the countdown “What a match that’ll be at Wrestlemania, can The Steiner Brothers finally capture gold at Wrestlemania? Or will Money Inc have more tricks up their sleeve? Only a few short days away until we find out!!”

’Macho Man’ Randy Savage vs. Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart (c)- World Wrestling Federation Championship
Todd Pettengill continues with the countdown “So here we are, after showing you what has lead up to the matches taking place at Wrestlemania IX, we arrive at the second half of our double main event. It’ll be the Royal Rumble winner, ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage challenging the champion, Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart for the WWF Championship. This one is a must see title match, a battle between old school and the new generation. Let’s show you how this blockbuster title match came about....”
Footage airs from the closing moments of the Royal Rumble match back in January with Savage and Flair in the final two. It shows Flair going to the top rope for a double axe handle but Savage catches Flair on the top rope and pushes him all the way down to the outside of the ring to win the Royal Rumble and become number one contender for the WWF Championship at Wrestlemania! It then shows Savage celebrating his win and the crowd going wild.
We then see the following night on Raw (Jan 25th) Vince McMahon has an in ring interview with the ‘Macho Man’ talking about his Rumble win. Macho is pumped up “At Wrestlemania, I get the chance to become champion for the third time uh huhh and I know its not gonna be eassyyy as Bret is a worthy champion and I have nothing but respect for him. At Wrestlemania, I’m gonna leave it all in the ring and walk out the new World Wrestling Federation champion ohhhh yeaaahhhh”
The following week on Raw (Feb 1st), McMahon this time interviews the champion Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart. “Y’know, I have a huge amount of respect for Randy Savage, he’s been there and done it all. He was a great wrestler and a great champion back in the day but I am the excellence of execution and at Wrestlemania, I’m going to show the world that I am the leader of the new generation and Macho as much as I respect your past accomplishments in this business, I’m going to end your comeback story and I’m gonna walk out of Wrestlemania the champion”
On Superstars that week, we get pre recorded comments from the ‘Macho Man’. “I heard what you said on Raw and I didn’t like it one bit! You wanna refer to me in the past tense yeaahh, I ‘was’ a great wrestler, I ‘was’ a great champion. Well Hitman, I’m going to show you that I am all those things still uh huhh and it seems like I’m gonna have to teach you some respect in that ring! Don’t count me out Bret cos at Wrestlemania you’re gonna get all of me uh huhh, the flamboyant, the aggressive and maybe a lil nuts but there’s nothing I won’t do if it means becoming a three time WWF Champion!! (Macho takes off his glasses and stares directly into the camera) Do these eyes look like a man who is living in the past!? I still have it all to prove and at Wrestlemania you’ll find out the hard way!”
On Raw on Feb 22nd, we see Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart in the main event against Ted Dibiase with IRS. In a decent back and forth match, the referee gets knocked down in the corner. This allows IRS and Dibiase to put the boots to Bret, and they are about to hit Bret with their briefcase until outcomes the Macho Man!! Savage runs to the ring and unleashes rights and lefts to Dibiase and IRS! Meanwhile, the referee stirs and calls for the bell! Fink announces the winner by disqualification, Ted Dibiase!!! Bret gets back to his feet and remonstrates with the referee while Savage looks shocked. Bret gets angry at Savage for costing him the match and shoves him! Savage shoves him back but the official orders Bret out of the ring.
The following week on Superstars. Savage is in a one on one match against Samu from the Headshrinkers. Savage goes up to the top rope to hit the Elbow Drop on Samu but out of nowhere, Afa clocks Savage with his bamboo cane!! The ref calls for a DQ as The Headshrinkers continue their assault on Savage! Outcomes the Hitman, Bret races to the ring and clears house, snatching the bamboo cane out of Afa’s hands and swinging it as The Headshrinkers leave the ringside area. Savage gets to his feet and sees Bret with the cane and confronts him, mistakingly thinking that Bret was the one who hit him with the cane! Savage goes nuts as Bret tells Savage it wasn’t him! Bret calmly leaves the ring area and drops the cane.
It is announced by President Jack Tunney on the March 8th Raw, that in 2 weeks time (due to the Tag Team Battle Royal next week) that Bret Hart and the Macho Man will team up to face The Headshrinkers in the main event on Raw!
We see footage from the March 22nd Raw and the closing moments of the tag team match. Hart has Fatu locked in a sharpshooter near the corner and looks as though he is about to win the match however Savage tags himself in! The ref gets Bret out of the ring and Savage climbs to the top rope and hits his diving Elbow Drop onto Fatu to pick up the win! The ‘Hitman’ looks angry as Savage celebrates the win on the top turnbuckle. Hart pulls Savage down from the turnbuckle and Hart and Savage go face to face as Raw goes off the air!
On the Raw before Mania, the contract signing for the match takes place. The signing goes fairly peacefully but right at the end out of nowhere, Savage slaps Bret across the face!! Bret shoves Savage and the two men end up brawling until they are pulled apart by officials!
We go back to Todd and the countdown “Wowww.....the animosity between the Macho Man and the Hitman has been building for weeks. It’ll finally come to a head in the main event for the gold at Wrestlemania! Can Bret Hart continue his reign as champion and lead the WWF into the new generation or will the wiley veteran Savage reclaim the World Wrestling Federation championship for a third time! All I know is, this is a must see match so please order Wrestlemania IX through your local cable companies and don’t miss what will be the greatest Wrestlemania of all time!! I’ve been Todd Pettengill and thank you for watching, the countdown to Wrestlemania IX!!”
Ok everybody so that’s the build up for the show, I’m hoping everybody enjoyed these build ups as I did writing them. I’m hoping the show itself will be up for next weekend 27/28th Feb. Of course feedback is welcomed if anybody wants to add anything, maybe how they would of booked this show or just general feedback for the build ups.

Great use of Pettengill. Screwing somebody out of the Rumble is always good for setting up a grudge match and Bearer trying to reign in Undertaker is just a fun throwback. Putting Jim Duggan in a squash match seems odd, I would have just used a local wrestler or somebody.
