I'm an anti censorship liberal. I remember when all of us were United on that front. Boomers and Gen X fought against things that millenials and Gen Z are embracing. So sad.
I just don't believe in editing content, I prefer personal discretion everytime.

If NBC wants our money they should listen to our concerns. NBC shouldn’t be listening to anybody whose concerns can be summarised as “GIVE US OUR BLACKFACE BACK NOW!” I like how you fail to understand the larger censorship argument and simplify it in your own mind as “mUh bLaCkFaCe.” Need me to pass you the crayons and coloring pages?

Anybody who needs the PC crowd to determine what they can and can’t watch need to reconsider their life choices. Nobody is saying Piper at WM6 or the Vince segment from survivor series 2006 would fly today, or were even ok back then. But rather than get “RRRRREEEEE ANGRY” at these moments, maybe take a moment to consider the time these took place in and that we’ve evolved enough to realize some people are offended by these. But to completely edit them out of events just shines a brighter light on them. It’s also a slippery slope that can lead to no end. “Those who ignore the past are doomed to repeat it.” Humanity isn’t, and never was, perfect. But look at the past to learn from it. Ignoring/erasing it does nothing but divide people further. When people of color aren't still being targeted based on the color of their skin nearly 60+ years after the Civil Rights movement and nearly 150+ years after they were freed from being treated as sub-humans and property, then maybe you can actually use that quote in its proper context with regards to the state of race relations. If you're more upset about Peacock removing blackface content than you are about someone using blackface to begin with, you're part of the problem. You fail to understand the bigger argument around censorship? Simplifying it to blackface easier for you to understand? Not once did I say blackface was ok, but spinning a narrative must be your thing.

I am shocked in the year 2021 how many people still try and defend blackface...it’s insane Nobody here is saying they want to walk around in black face. But as an expression of villainy for a heel in order to get heat, as a historical event from almost 40 years ago, it should not be censored.

I'm completely against censorship, but the two examples of what has been removed are perfectly fine here.
1) Vince saying the N word. Completely pointless, adds nothing to anything. A throw away joke to be edgy. Getting rid of it takes nothing away from the show it's on, and makes the show better without it imo.
2) Hot Scott. There's no way to argue that this wasn't racist, from the blackface and the words used by Piper in the promo. It added nothing to the fued at all. Piper was the face, so there's no argument that it's 'an expression of villainy from a heel'. While I am gutted for the match to be removed for Bad News Browns sake, it is an example of completely unnecessary racism and shouldn't be highlighted.
I do, and always have thought that instead of removing footage you should put up disclaimers and warnings. But in these two examples, mostly nothing of value is lost.
I'm not sure why people are so quick to carry pitchforks about things like Val Venis and Godfather being removed so soon, when there is no hint that stuff like that is on the chopping block. It just seems like a knee jerk reaction because you don't like change. When there is a sign that more stuff that isn't as provocative is taken away, then sure you're free to panic. But for now, just buy the physical copies of shows so nobody can take away your enjoyment for watching things uncensored.

If your main argument that "CENSORING EVERYTHING!!!1!!1!" is two sole instances of them removing a babyface character dressing in blackface in preparation for facing a black man and the heel owner of the company calling a white employee "my n-word" in front of two black employees, with nothing else seemingly removed or edited so far, you don't really have much of an argument to stand on. It's the year of our lord 2021. Racial tension is probably the highest it's been since the Civil Rights Movement. It's just smart business for Peacock to remove the overtly racist crap WWF/E has aired in the past. It's not OMG CENSORSHIP or whatever the narrative that YOU are trying to spin.

Again, you claimed I was defending black face, yet the post you quoted clearly stated nobody is saying blackface is or was ever ok. That’s creating a narrative that you want to spin. From what I’ve read there’s hardly any WWE content on Peacock right now, so you have no solid facts to back up your argument. You seriously don’t think Peacock isn’t going to heavily edit late-90s and early 00’s content...they’ve already done it with other shows on their platform so get ready for some 13 minute episodes of Raw soon (there’s an older episode of SNL that got chopped to 18 minutes that’s currently uploaded). You keep simplifying it as “mUh bLaCkFaCe” yet are not understanding that the bigger censorship issue is that this is a slippery slope that has no defined settings or rules. NBC bought the content so they can do whatever they want with it, but again, just like they can censor the content, we don’t have to subscribe to them if we don’t agree with it, yet for some reason you and others get crazy over the reason we don’t want to give our $5 to NBC every month. You’d rather go straight to the simple “racist” claim than look at the bigger picture. You know what would have been easier and less controversial...a disclaimer...

My biggest gripe is the ads. Fast forward, get an ad. Match ends, get an ad. RIP WWE Network.

You either censor everything problematic or you censor nothing and put a long disclaimer at the beginning of every WWE show.
They have to draw a line somewhere. Is it with making fun of Asians? Is it with calling Kane “The Big Red intellectually- disabled person”? What about making Trish crawl around while Vince yells at her?
I think they’ll only put a small amount of the library up at a time. There’s ZERO chance everything will be up by SummerSlam.

You’d rather go straight to the simple “racist” claim than look at the bigger picture. You know what would have been easier and less controversial...a disclaimer... I'll just go ahead and spell it out for you, since it's clear you just skimmed my statements and immediately thought I was calling you a racist. 1. I never said that you were specifically defending blackface. I said that if you're more concerned about censoring blackface than someone being in blackface, then that's an issue. My statement was just a general statement towards everyone in this thread who are up in arms, not you specifically. 2. You have no solid facts to back up your argument that Peacock is going to censor every single thing on WWE content either, champ. The only censorship that Peacock has done so far is removing someone in blackface and removing someone saying the n-word, so...yeah. If they do, it's their right. And honestly, quite a bit of the Attitude Era content has aged like milk, anyway, so yeah, I'm all for cutting out the repugnantly offensive crap if that's what they choose to do. (Beaver Cleavage, anyone? DX's promo on the Nation where they're all in blackface, perhaps?) 3. I don't give a damn how you or anyone else wants to spend five bucks. I'm not going to tell someone else how to spend their money. Spend it on Peacock, spend it on a cheeseburger, spend it on a subscription to someone's OnlyFans, do whatever you damn well please. If you and other people in this thread want to bitch and moan that they're "censoring the past" or kowtowing to "SJWs" and "PC cancel culture", then don't give them your money. Simple as.

Should we go back and edit books from 100 years ago if a word is offensive is it? What is so hard about putting up a disclaimer? Why are people so weak they need a company to protect them?

It’s easier for them to let some unknown suit make decisions for them rather than read a disclaimer and make the decision for themselves.
