There are currently 790 online auctions, on a large site, for series 1. I have a feeling many of these will be returned weeks from now. So, the odds are many on here still hunting will get many more opportunities.
That said, this could also be bad for the health of the line. Most of you have far-more knowledge on this than I, so if I'm wrong, good. It just seems like this could affect series 2, and the line as a whole.

Why would they be returned? In five years a MOC series 1 figure will be worth a good bit

Why would they be returned? In five years a MOC series 1 figure will be worth a good bit Because they were bought for immediate profit. 21.xx, per figure, now, is more appealing to those flipping, living paycheck-to-paycheck. Likely won't be a problem in cities, but in more rural areas, this could slow down shipments of series 2. I worked in receiving for about 5 years, and we saw this practice frequently. I'm sure some of the sellers are fans, trying to make a quick buck, but a lot of the sellers are in it as a business; no different than the guy who bought every sanitary wipe, hand sanitizer, and bottles of alcohol/peroxide within hundreds of miles of his property. In this case, the longer they go unsold at 50, and then 40, and so on, the more-likely it is they are returned to a Wal-Mart.

I don't think some mass flood of returns large enough to cause an arterial blockage for subsequent series is going to be very likely.

BIG IF but IF they become widely available, the resellers will just sell for the low to get rid of the stock imo. I'm brand new to figures but I have resold a pair of Nike Yeezy 2's in my day, and and the sneaker game got flooded with resellers years back. I dont know if its still thriving [pretty sure it is, they have whole sites like stockx now], but I actually stopped buying sneakers because of resellers [Havent bought a pair in 2 years after building a nice little lineup]. You couldnt get anything hyped for retail price anymore and it was always a crapshow trying to outdo bots during releases online.

Short answer - returns are pretty much a given, but I don't expect it will pose longterm issues.
Longer answer - these are chum in the water for scalpers right now. As revision cases hit, prices will start to dip and we will probably start to see some returns. But demand is still very high among the collector community who haven't been able to land these, and these things aren't lasting on shelves long enough for non-collector AEW fans or kids to have a prayer of getting them right now. This line has gotten a lot of positive traction from non-collectors on places like Reddit and Twitter. So if revision cases actually stick around for more than a couple of hours, you'll see non-collectors grabbing a figure for their desk at work or grandma buying one for Timmy's birthday.
Jeremy has already said that they erred on the safe side with production. And I don't think it's a stretch to say that this line has surpassed expectations and really driven up interest in the line. Series 2 shouldn't hit shelves until October, so there is plenty of time for revision cases to sell through. And series 1 (and 2) are both stacked with high profile characters. So even if there are returns, somebody is going to scoop these things up.

I’ll be returning my Omega when I find one that has the better hair color but other than people doing that I don’t think this will be a thing

It's the first series of a new line and it's popular. I'm not concerned about this.

I don't see it being a problem. By the time returns happen, those stores will likely have already ordered the next Wave. I really can't see there being enough returns to disrupt the market.

Does walmart have an undated return policy because of the pandemic ?
These scalper bums might be stuck with them.

Finally saw some in person. The skin tones are PALE! Hopefully, they don't go from being rare to pegwarmers. I look forward to future series (Luchas, Legends) so don't screw this up!
