I just got asked to approve another delay on Valentine. This is the third or fourth time. I'm not even going to bother. I'm tired of them holding my money hostage for something that has been in stores for a month or more.

I'm going to keep the one I preordered on backorder incase it ever ships and ends up being the chase.

I have managed to find Bobby and Razor on multiple occasions but never the Hammer. So, if someone wants to help me out, I wouldn’t turn it down, haha.

Just came here to post that about approving another delay. I wish Steve could chime in on this and communicate with Target somehow to ensure this doesn’t happen again with those who preordered series 8. Just seems weird to me that even those who preordered their figures from the time they went up are left basically in the dark as to what’s going on while the figures are being found easily at the store. It feels like target shipped all their stock or something to stores before fulfilling the preorders.

Because who wants a first time in the line guy who’s a HOFer? It’s not like collectors had been asking for a Valentine for years or anything.

I felt like there was always a bit of condescension in the way that Valentine, and before that Harley Race or Billy Graham, were discussed. It seems like nobody but Mattel is surprised when there is high demand for those figures. Makes you wonder...

I left three Valentine’s on pegs at two different stores yesterday. Already have two regulars and a chase. Just needed the running change Razor.

According to Mattel I’ve heard EVERYTHING through the years. They didn’t make enough, they didn’t realize the demand, flashbacks don’t sell, it was “insert store here” fault, lines get cancelled for similar flashback lines, etc. Look, I understand WWE most likely just wants to sell the guys on television. But collectors want what they want and this kinda stuff discourages people from collecting and buying your product. If anything seeing the attitude Jeremy at Jazwares has is the right one, and the Mattel guys continue to be secretive and as closed door about everything as possible.

I take anything coming from a large corporation with a grain of salt. And the bigger the company, the more salt. But at its core, Mattel is a very conservative company that seems stuck in old models of the toy industry. I'm not shocked that the emphasis is on current product and selling to kids, even as adult collectors become a larger and larger part of the market. I'm very interested in seeing what Jazwares is able to do moving forward. I feel like there has been a lot of money left on the table by Mattel by not doing more collector driven releases, direct to consumer, and other innovations that have become more or less standard across the industry. Heck, it took 8 years just to get back to having a dedicated Legends line that existed in 2010. I guess I'm a fan of their toys, but not their business strategy.

Totally agree with everything you said. I was listening to the AEW podcast and they had Jeremy on last week. One thing he said that was really telling. He said as of their research that 60% of the market today is adult collectors. And they seem to understand and want to cater to that. I think he realizes that Mattel treats it as mostly kids and this shows that’s just incorrect.

Had to delay Razor again this morning another week to 8/31. At this point I'm not expecting the figure to come, but I'm going to keep this game up until they outright cancel the order, which seems like the obvious endpoint.

If anyone could hook me up with three regular hammers and one chase that’d be awesome. Really not looking to pay over retail but I can definitely send a little extra your way for helping me out. Somebody could do that then I could cancel my pre-orders because I have a feeling the endgame is they are going to get canceled anyway. It sucks not having a target anywhere within an hour of you.
