Holy f***! That is amazing. I am pumped for that one. Feels like they might be gearing up to launch this second show soon. Also cutler/Avalon have a name now, so that's great. |

He constantly moves the goal posts and will never not sh*t talk this promotion. He's bitter. I think next weeks ratings are going to be a HUGE indicator of if AEW can pull people away from live sports. Trends point to young people leaving every WWE program in droves, yet AEW is pulling some in. AEW vs live sports in the Covid era is interesting. WWE vs live sports in the Covid era could be a blood bath. He makes a point about AEW improving the psychology of what they do and giving things meaning versus a lot of the video game matches. I’m on this very thread saying Cody wasted that thumbtack spot on Free TV with no build against a guy we don’t even know if he’s going to be on AEW going forward. Things like that need to improve. But yeah, even Brian Last admitted this week that AEW was the less offensive show to a wrestling fan versus anything the WWE is doing. That’s begrudgingly saying AEW is better. Jim agreed but said they are still offensive to him as a wrestling professional, and he makes solid points. But your right, he’s never going to outright become a cheerleader for them. You keep saying "thumb tacks" and "free" like tacks are a PPV only thing. They don't have to be. Foley was rolling in tacks for free on Raw years ago too. It made for a great visual last night and was definitely a surprise. AEW had lost the ratings war a few weeks in a row. They won last week and probably assumed a large audience would be tuning in to see the opener this week. Cody is one of their biggest draws. Eddie Kingston cut a badass and believable promo as challenger. And then you get bloody thumb tack spots during the opening match. It's not like this was the 4th match in at 9:15. They went for a home run to kick off this show. I think they got it. It definitely set the tone for the night and a BIG ratings win. |

we need to make a dark watch along thread and start from the beginning toki ?! i dunno if i'm the right man for the job, lol. i failed the all in thread. maybe we'll gauge interest beforehand and i can do it up if needs be finally catching the first half of dynamite. man that kingston promo was on fire. i feel like this cody title run has already been great. have the matches been a bit overdramatic on levels? yep, but that's where cody shines best is when the story is on volume 10. i dug the tack spot and figure four finish. i'd like to see kingston join the ranks soon, that promo was next level. |

Yeah, I’d be good with Kingston signing on. That was a good promo and good match with Cody.
I’d also like Diamanté and Ivelisse to both sign on too. I’ve been a fan of both of them for a while, and they would add some much needed experience to the women’s division.

I'd be down for a weekly re-watch of Dark if we start on the anniversary of the 1st show. I hope that made sense...
Watching more than 1 episode of Dark in a row could be a chore that'd burn everyone out pretty damn quick.

The Bucks vs B&B legit drew over a million viewers in the final stretch this week. I really think they should be the ones to dethrone Omega/Page and be the full time draw on top of the division.
If they constantly had more matches on tv with those titles, I don't think it'd be crazy if they regularly drew those kind of numbers.

If they constantly had more matches on tv with those titles, I don't think it'd be crazy if they regularly drew those kind of numbers. tag team wrestling does sell. there's a reason they'd put hogan halfway through Saturday Night's Main Event and had the Hart Foundation and Bulldogs for the main event, and it wasn't just that Hogan wanted to get to the bar earlier. |

If they constantly had more matches on tv with those titles, I don't think it'd be crazy if they regularly drew those kind of numbers. Those numbers could be attributed to Butcher and The Baker Lol. But seriously that’s a really surprising number. Look I love listening to Cornette and he has some legit criticisms but he misses the boat on AEW. They could get better at certain stuff but they are legit over. Also I really enjoy Butcher and Baker, they should be the gatekeepers of the tag team division. |
