I would 100% buy the AEW figures BUT I am more interested in what names from the past they could make. What figures would you most want to see that are gimmicks NOT owned by the WWF/WWE?

The main line isn’t even out yet. Seems like they’re spreading themselves out thin pretty fast.

Retros of who though? Arn? Tully?
Oh, current guys in famous "Hasbro scale"?
Hard pass.

I saw that this morning - excited to see it, but I doubt it actually means much; he’s been great at interacting with fans and asking for their opinions and ideas recently, so obviously lots of people are going to reply with wanting Retros - I think he’s just acknowledging that rather than teasing an actual line. Hopefully I’m wrong as I’d love any Retro-style figures from anyone at this point, but as bababooey points-out the main line isn’t even out yet, so that has to be the priority for a while - but at least the Retros seem to be on his radar if they do decide to bring in a sideline. But if he really is looking at introducing the Retro-style, and assuming they can do guys with looks from WWE-owned promotions, then the obvious legends I’d like would include: -Chris Jericho (WCW era onwards basically) -The Natural Dustin Rhodes -Arn (Horseman and Brain Busters) -Tully (Horseman and Brain Busters) -Billy Gunn (DX onwards; though maybe they can reach-out to Bart Gunn?) -Taz -JR -Tony Schiavone -DDP (is he still involved with AEW?) And if Sting signs-up (is that still rumoured?) then surfer Sting could fill a series of his own 😆 Jake seems to still have WWE figure deal given his upcoming Legends figure, but otherwise then the black flame pants would be an open-goal for this line. But even current guys would be cool in that style, especially since so many customisers were into the Mattel Retro line before the axe fell on it.

These fall into the same trap of the Mattel retros where I dont give a crap about owning current wrestlers in that style.

I will try to go through other eras as well, but here is a list of guys from the Hogan era (WM1-KOTR 93). Everyone on this list is not going to be in high demand, some might have contracts with WWE at this time, or WWE might own the gimmick/they might be able to claim ownership of the look:
Adrian Adonis Dynamite Kid King Kong Bundy Barry Windham Big John Stud Andre the Giant Jake the Snake Roberts Hercules Rick Martel Mr. Fuji Dino Bravo Danny Davis Butch Reed Slick The Killer Bees Bad News Brown Virgil (Soultrain Jones) One Man Gang Oliver Humperdink Frenchy Martin Classic Referee Jesse the Body Ventura The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers The Barbarian Owen Hart Marty Jannetty The Brain Busters Meng (Haku) Dusty Rhodes Dustin Rhodes Tiny Lister (Zeus) Lanny Paffo (The Genius) Steve Laumbardi (Brooklyn Brawler, MVP, etc). Sapphire The Orient Express The Von Erich Family Harvey Wippleman Beverly Brothers Sid Doink Steiner Brothers Tony Atlas Bob Backlund Shane Douglas Ronnie Garvin Luna Vachon Mr. Hughs
Again, not a perfect list...but there are a few in that list that could make for some fun series (and that’s mostly prior to the New Generation, Attitude Era, NEA, WCW, ECW, and beyond).

Mattel are of course limited with their figures by WWE allowing only guys with WWE legends contracts to be made - if Jazware can reach-out to sign their own deals with talent like with the Jakks Classic Superstars did then they could fill-up a lot of gaps from the Hasbro legacy and the 80s-90s in general.
But that would require the talent to own their names, any team names, logos, or whatever, since without WWE being involved at all then any legends they’d sign-up would need to own the lot in terms of their characters and attire to make figures in any form of the legends I’d think.
The former ECW guys I’d guess would own a lot of gimmicks themselves - RVD, Dreamer, Sandman, Sabu, Jerry Lynn, Taz, Raven would be a very interesting series in Retro form, and WWE I don’t think would need to be considered with any of them as far as I know.
But, regardless of if they are made as Retros or main line figure, Jazware probably can’t justify the resources to sign-up as much talent as Jakks did; and AEW can’t just go sign-up everyone however we’d like them to do so.

Can we get some MOC pictures of Wave 1 or more info on Waves 2/3 before we go diving into 2-Packs and Retros.

Or Retros as in classic wrestlers and not a Hasbro/Mattel like line?

Or Retros as in classic wrestlers and not a Hasbro/Mattel like line? It doesn’t make sense given the account of the person he tagged. Besides, he is too self aware to say something intentionally misleading.

Bruh I just want elite scale figures of the current roster and fun playsets and stuff related to it. I’m so tired of seeing people try to shoehorn a legends line into a company that’s barely a year old. They haven’t even put out the first current figures yet

Pretty bold of Jeremy to talk about retros but its a cool thought. Even if they do, it would probably be a long wait.

For all we know, this could be a separate division within the company dedicated to this. It’s all speculation at this point.

Jeremy seems to love working collectors, so I take anything with a grain of salt. But at the same time, they're very aware of the collector market and how to generate some buzz I think. So I don't think it's crazy to say anything could be on the table, while also recognizing that right now we're only seen two waves of product. But I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what they have in store for reveals.
