My opinion only, but it's a mystery to me why anyone under the age of 40/50 would want either of these anyway. Same goes for all these other "in-demand", 60's/70's/80's legends... I mean, how many people here are actually old enough to remember seeing people like Blassie, Graham, Sammartino, Muraco and Harley Race, wrestle/appear either in person, or on TV? Not a hell of a lot, I'm guessing. I'm 40 myself, didn't start watching 'till the mid-80's - so don't remember seeing any of them, and thus, have not had any inclination whatsoever to buy any of them. Valentine, I do remember, but he's so plain and bland, I won't be buying him either. The only time I've seen Harley Race on tv, is when they brought him in to be "killed" by Orton. Like I said it's just my view, but I've never understood - even going back to the JAKKS CS days, why people have a desire to own figures of talent, they're not old enough to remember - or in some cases, hadn't even been born. I started watching wrestling around 1998,I was too young at that moment, But as I grew up I came to know about golden era and past wrestlers. I just went to you tube and started watching them and found they were charismatic wrestlers, colourful in attire ,those were classics fun to watch and gems and I became a die hard fan. These things drive me to own these legends in my collection and I just love it.

I started watching wrestling as a kid around '91 or '92. But I was very aware of Blassie, Superstar, etc and at the time WWE did a pretty good job of incorporating its history. And the video store had a back catalog of tapes that went back into the mid 80's. I grew up in Pittsburgh with grandparents who were Italian immigrants, so Bruno Sammartino was as much a household name as Michael Jordan.
And accessing classic wrestling is incredibly easy - easier today than in its heyday. There are plenty of clips online, but also vast libraries of shows from the territory days, Japan, and small regional promotions that have been digitized in high quality formats. I have a huge library, and on any given night I'm more likely to be watching old MSG shows from the 70's, WCCW, or Smokey Mountain than I am Raw or Smackdown.
There's also just an element of people wanting new and fresh characters. The line has become pretty stale when it comes to legends.

I remember Billy Graham comeback vignettes when they showed him getting his hip fixed. Then he went on to manage Muraco for a while. When I started watching in the 80's Sammartino was a commentator who wrestled every so often. Blassie was managing Sheik and Volkoff. Muraco had a decent run until the late 80's. Harley Race was part of the Heenan family as king, then he had the face run as he was getting phased out.
I got SuperStar pre-ordered. Blassie arrived last week such an easier method in getting them

Keep in mind at that point there was 1-4 PPV a year so most of us went and got VHS releases of the past ppvs. To catch up at that time meant I only had to get mania 1-4, and a single survivor series tape. Once that was done I’d seen Blassie plenty and a bunch of other guys. I’ll buy pretty much anyone from the 80’s onwards.

I first became aware of wrestling with Hulk Hogans Rock n Wrestling. I was somewhat aware of the mainstream stuff like piper, hogan, Mr t, cyndi lauper, Andre etc. I think blassie was in the Goonies music video and I knew he was a big jerk especially with volkoff and shiek. I started watching around 88 especially wrestlemania 4. At this point I knew graham as the weird old man who managed muraco.
As a lifelong wrestling fan I appreciate both of their crucial places in wrestling history. In that sense I like to have them in my collection. My heyday was 88 to 91 or 92. Will display blassie with shiek and volkoff and bald graham with muraco. No interest in pre wrestlemania 1 characters.

They had a lot of appearances by guys who had regional appeal - Harley, Bruno, Funk. There were still a few video stores that kept them in stock into the late 90's in my area.

WWE Network only $9.99 Both were before my time but between tape trading, wwe 24/7 and the Network, I've seen majority of their top moments.

To be fair there is a lot of material to access and it's all almost at your fingertips. So you can learn a lot about them. So that's not impossible in any way anymore. Plus. Bruce was so iconic... I know a 15 year old basketball fan who's favorite player is Michael Jordan. He's able to access anything he wants on the internet and watch him. And Mike hung it up for the final time 17 years ago (almost 2 years before he was born). There are 20-25 year old NBA players and guards that patterned their games after Magic Johnson, and the last time he played was a short stint in the second half of the 95-96 season.

Wow this has gotten out of hand haha glad I could piss some people off. To me its not that big of a deal. I'll just get it on ebay. Just seemed like blassie was up a lot longer and thought he'd be a more sought after fig than graham

I for one am blessed that RSC had these two on preorder to begin with. This is something we've wanted for a long time and we finally get it only for some individuals to look a gift horse in the mouth. I was fortunate to catch Superstar within the hour he was posted, having learned how online preorders go. It took some time but if anything it shows how putting them online was an excellent move, even if it's out of necessity for Covid. This is a great point. At times I’m okay waiting months to save the money and go on the hunt. In this COVID era, I really shouldn’t and can’t be going out and taking risks, even when places are open, so I’m okay locking in the extra cash to ensure I get everything. I usually justify the gas and time as an excuse to wander on my lunch break from work but now that work is done from home, I’ll pay the little premium to get them early and help the smaller business in RSC. Exactly my point. I mean sure I do hunt when I'm shopping for groceries, but it's always the same song and dance: Nothing worthwhile on the pegs. My main source for figs now is online, most stores and businesses know this and have adapted. My hill to die on is this: We finally got exclusives/collector figures available online, preorders have been up for an ample period, days vs. selling out in hours. I get it if someone's mad they missed out, but we did technically get what we begged and pleaded for, even if it was more circumstantial because of Covid, and like I said even the Target Legends were up for a week or so before selling out.

Anybody else notice the $60 Ringside Exclusive Bret Hart on the website? Thankfully I scored one for $35 on EBay a few weeks ago. It must be close to selling out.

Anybody else notice the $60 Ringside Exclusive Bret Hart on the website? Yea, the last couple years I didn't collect much so now I'm playing catch-up. I had to drop $50 for Bret and $30 for Shane a couple weeks back.

Also, I was a big reader of the Apter mags, so I was definitely aware of Sammartino being a big deal in the 60s and 70s and SBG's title run, weird karate gimmick comeback, etc.

I may have seen these two in the 80's after all. I probably watched more than I remember... but tbh, I can't remember what I saw over 30 years ago. I know I missed some PPV's in the late 80's/early 90's, because SKY started putting them on their SKY Movies satellite channel - which I didn't have access to. I used to watch some round my mate's house occasionally. I know I missed WM 6, and I couldn't watch WM8 my mate had taped for me, because he recorded it on long play - and we didn't have a LP vcr back then.

Mattel has severely underestimated the demand in ‘pre- wrestlemania’ era guys. I believe Bill said in the past they felt there was not enough demand for guys older then that time period. That’s why Graham has his 80s head included (they didn’t think a 70s version would sell on its own) why Harley race was King Harley WWF version. (“Nobody would remember/want an nwa Harley”)
Mattel brings back the legends line and get snake bitten by sting & 2 Greg Valentine. But instead of Valentine, Superstar Billy Graham would of made more sense as two figures in the line. It’s another reason why he’s selling well; people feel they need 2 figures for both eras.
