I am a newly dedicated collector of the Mattel line....I used to buy figures here and there but I didn't pay attention to all of the releases. At this point I am trying to get a lot of the releases I missed when they were in retail.
The Defining Moments line is something I am new to. Was this an exclusive to one retailer or available everywhere wwe figures were sold? Were they very rare? How did they compare price wise?
I'm curious when I see toy store and flea market sellers with really high prices. Are they that hard to come by to command high prices? Which of the line were your favorites?
The Hulk Hogan one. His shirt being cut in front... are you able to pose him so it looks like he's tearing it? If not it seems like an odd design choice to me.

Defining Moments were not rare, they were available in all stores but they were more expensive than regular elites by about $6. Personal favorites for me are the WM7 Macho King and Ultimate Warrior, the Ricky Steamboat, and the Bret Hart.

The original Defining Moments can demand a high price today. It's hard to find Bret Hart complete with flag or Austin with his jacket and hat. When they brought the line back it was mostly just a way for them to put the first Elite of a wrestler out like Hogan, Razor, and Nakamura.

They were not rare, but because they are old they can be hard to come by for a good price. Many of them hit discount retailers like 5 below and big lots of were massively clearenced at walmart and kmart, but if you missed it, you're gonna pay.

Series 1 Macho and series 2 Warrior were very easy to find and shelf warmed in my area for quite some time. I think I bought a Macho at Kmart over a year after its release for like 50% off. Same with Warrior at TRU.

I think there’s just something that’s appealing about the line. Way before I ever began collecting something about the packaging/representing specific moments caught my eye. I bought the HBK one since I was at WM25, and later on I got the Austin w/3 belts and Ministry Taker. Now that I’m a collector I wish I had been in the game way sooner to have gotten all or most of the line.

This is one line that I wouldn’t mind collecting MOC. Have most loose and they are expensive enough that way as it is.

The DM line stopped for a while and then came back with heavy hitters like Flair, Hogan, Austin, Razor and sting.
There was another figure planned after sting and was kept secret but was teased quite a bit. Something happened and at the sdcc reveal the “mystery” DM figure was displayed and was a rerelease.... DM Hollywood then got cancelled. It was all downhill from there.

This video is informative with the Defining Moments line starting at 2:06 to 3:44.
The original release in 2011 lived up to the name Defining Moments then it was cancelled. When they rebooted the series it wasn't as great as the original ones (imo) but we still got our 1st Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Sting and Razor Ramon elites. My favorite ones in this line is Bret Hart, street gear Stone Cold and Triple H.

man i can remember seeing Bret & Cena at Marshall's and TJ MAXX for 9.99 all over the place during that time after their initial release. a lot of the other ones ended up on clearance too. they were everywhere, and the line kind of died because people weren't really paying $25+ for basically an elite figure with maybe an extra accessory or 2.
the resurrection of the line was a nice idea, most of them felt like regular elites anyway. im glad that concept is over and done with TBH

First time they were elites at a premium price due to added accessories and/or extra deco that you couldn’t get in the regular elite line. Besides a few exceptions the second time they were pretty much what you would find in the normal elite line but with a fancier box. Couple examples of how much cheaper they went the second time around.

Jericho with two belts. Nothing crazy about that.

It baffles me they didn't swap the DM versions of Macho and Warrior around, since the higher price could have given Macho his jacket...
