So can we maybe start talking about a possible 1991-92 "Natural" Dustin Rhodes figure again??? A big miss by mattel when he was there as goldust and I'm sure a big want by the collectible figure world. I'd think he has to be near the top of the list whenever they get to legends. Huge omission by Mattel, unless WWE for some reason blocked it. A few years ago I asked Dustin on Twitter about a "Natural" figure and he said he'd love to have one made. So no issues on that end. There are some cool first time figures they'll hopefully be able to do - Schiavone, Kong, Natural Dustin, maybe an 80's/early 90's JR?

Of the guys working with/associated with AEW, my top wants are probably:
Glacier (yes, Glacier) Taz Natural Dustin Tony Schiavone 90s Jerry Lynn
Honorable mention, I'd like to see a new Dean Malenko that captures his 5 o'clock shadow

A lot of these guys being name dropped probably don’t have the rights available to most of their gear.

A lot of these guys being name dropped probably don’t have the rights available to most of their gear. The only real restrictions on gear would be if its a trademarked image or phrase. There would be very few limitations, unless it's a gimmick owned by another company. Look at the Storm Hogan figures or Legends of Wrestling games to get an idea of what is/isn't possible.

The one figure I hope we get out of the legends line is Haystacks Calhoun!! He has been a huge want of mine for a long time!! You would need a Build a Figure for him.

Dustin loves figures and said he still has a few of his Galoob figures mint on card.

I know theirs little to no shot of it happening but I would like the 1st legend line to be Arn,DDP,Jake,Taz,Tully and Jr and also current versions of Taz,Tully,Arn in Jack as they are now in their manger roles.Surely the throw back figures of them would sell but don't know about a current manger figures of them.

I don't understand the notion of an AEW legends line- they are a new startup that has only been in existence for a year or so, they don't have any legends unless you are referring to the WWE/WCW legends who work behind the scenes?!
I would like to see Jazzwares/WCT launch a separate and distinct 'Legends of Wrestling' line instead of incorporating it into the AEW line. This would have more potential IMO and would allow them to sign any and all legends regardless of whether they have any ties to AEW or not. There are big names available that could make a legends line viable, looking at just the wrestlers that are not on good terms with WWE as well as those who refuse to sign a legends deal- here is a list of potential names that could be signed:
Road Warriors Demolition Steiner Brothers
Killer Bees Fabulous Rougeaus Dynamite Kid King Kong Bundy Rick Martel Hercules Dino Bravo Mr. Fuji
Sting (if he doesn't resign with WWE) Macho Man (if Lanny doesn't sign an exclusive deal with WWE or doesn't re-sign whenever the current deal expires) Andre the Giant (his estate does not sign exclusive deals, so he is available)
Throw in the legends that work for AEW (Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Jerry Lynn, Taz, Chris Jericho, Jake Roberts and DDP) and you have an impressive list of legends IMO.
Of course the biggest name out there is the legend whom I chose for my username- the immortal Owen Hart! I think we will definitely see some Owen Hart figures, most likely limited edition exclusives with a connection to the Owen Hart Foundation.
Aside from Owen, I would like to see Macho Man, Mattel has not done him justice IMO- they have only made 1 figure from his early run that includes his iconic robes and several of the other figures they have made are missing accessories (shirt, jacket). I hope Lanny Poffo does what Andre's estate has done, namely not signing any exclusive deals which allows them to sign merchandise deals with multiple companies at the same time.

It's going to be an AEW branded product, regardless of where the legends work or worked. The idea of doing a separate "legends" line without AEW branding simply isn't going to happen, just like you aren't going to see Jazwares making toys for ROH or Impact. AEW is their business partner on wrestling figures, and it would be terrible business, and probably a breach of contract, to do anything otherwise. I think most of the names you listed would be pretty likely. But the AEW branding would be just that - if they're signing guys to individual deals, they'll cast a wide net. Don't get caught up on the AEW aspect.

I don't understand what one has to do with the other?! AEW is one product line, a potential legends line would be a different product line- why does it have to be connected to AEW?! How is it a breach of contract- are you saying Jazzwares cannot release say an Owen Hart figure unless it has AEW branding on it?? If true, that is quite a weird contract Jazzwares has signed.
Regardless, I hope they do go ahead with a legends line at some point, there are many legends that I doubt will get a figure from Mattel so it would nice to have another opportunity to potentially get a figure of those legends.
I don't watch AEW but I am waiting for their figures to be released to see if their distribution is better than Mattel's. Their Fortnite figures seem to be readily available here at Walmart and Toys R Us so hopefully that is a good sign, however I am not sure if retailers will be keen to add a second wrestling figure line to their shelves?!

You only have to look at the number of figures from baf lines on the secondary market in perfect condition and not even removed from packaging sometimes but just the baf part missing

AEW and Jazwares are business partners. Creating an "unbranded" legends line would cut out AEW, which would not go over well. It would be foolish to burn a bridge with a partner, especially when they're probably more than willing to cooperate. But it's even more likely there is some sort of clause in their contract that prevents Jazwares from producing a competing wrestling toy line during the contract. Not weird at all. I'm sure Marvel wouldn't want Hasbro picking up the DC license, or WWE wouldn't want Mattel producing figures for any other company. Competition cuts into your bottom line. People have asked Mattel the same question - can they make a Legends line that doesn't involve WWE - and the answer was basically "no, nor would we ever even think about doing to WWE that even if we could." It'll probably be structured the same as the WWE legends line. Jazwares uses a combination of AEW signed talent (Taz, Jerry Lynn, Arn, Tully, etc), and then sign additional talent directly to figure licensing deals. AEW gets their cut of the profits, contracted talent make their merch revenue, and Jazwares is (hopefully) able to sign some in-demand talent who haven't had figures recently. It's a win-win for everyone. Like you said, there are a bunch of guys who will probably never get a Mattel figure who would absolutely sell well. I think we'll see legends sooner than later, whether it's as part of the Unrivaled line or if they something exclusively for legends.

Thanks for clarifying things in more detail, it makes more sense now.
The way I was looking at things was that the legends line would not be a threat to AEW because its just a bunch of older legends- there would be no real competition to the AEW action figure line which focuses on their product but I guess they see things differently?!
I really hope this comes to fruition and that they are able to sign deals with some of the wrestlers that don't want to deal with WWE and their restrictive legends deal or who aren't on good terms with them. I have had just about enough of Mattel and their terrible distribution, time for a change and hopefully Jazzwares will provide that change. At the very least, I think there might be a very good chance we see them produce some Owen figures. It was hinted in the Owen episode of Dark Side of the Ring that Chris Jericho was trying to persuade Martha Hart to allow a company to make some commemorative figures of him (like the t-shirts they recently released) and Jazzwares would be the perfect partner IMO as they have no connection to WWE and have Jeremy Padawer at the helm who knows a thing or two about wrestling figures.
I wonder if the potential threat of Jazzwares launching a legends line might spur WWE to go out and try and sign some of these disgruntled wrestlers to deal so Jazzwares can't as its quite clear that WWE wants to have a monopoly over all things wrestling?!
