Wait... You passed it at retail? On eBay, some guy wanted $55 shipped right after IG came out & I passed thinking I would find it at retail. Biggest mistake ever!!! Nah man you shouldn't beat yourself up for that one, distribution is all ed up. I know I'm crazy to think this but I think they'll eventually appear. For something that's meant to be mass produced only for a small percentage to own just doesn't add up.

This Canadian seller on the bay theliquidationguy has had a never ending supply of them. I must have seen him move like 35 cases worth these past few months.

Defining moments. I wasn't into collecting yet but would always see them at toys r us. I thought that bret was amazing but just wasn't into figures and at 25 I thought that's too much. Boy was I wrong on that

Dude is turning 5 figure profits just off this set with how many he has.

Literally today I finally got E37 Seth Rollins, saw him at KMart when I was 15, but didn't have any money. 5 years later, and 15 extra dollars later.

Not sure if it technically counts, but this is the closest I have to offer in terms of Mattel:
I visited the US in the summer of 2017 - the summer that the first series of Retros were in Walmarts across the country. I had a rented car and travelled mostly around LA, then down to San Diego and finishing in Anaheim, with a stop at Carlsbad. Before going, I fully intended to get all of the series 1 Retros whilst I was there, and bringing them back home to start my collection - I was so excited for the line; it is what brought me back to wrestling figures.
But just before I left for the US, Smyths got in series 1 here in the UK. Now I loved this development, and wanted to support the line here with my wallet (that worked well - Smyths dropped the line after series 3), so I decided I would buy them when I got back home instead.
Because of that I ever visited a Walmart during that trip, which I could’ve easily done since I was the driver. Therefore I never bought the Retros during that trip.
What I did not know was that Smyths would not be getting Roman Reigns or Kevin Owens. Had I visited Walmart then I would’ve had the chance to potentially buy them both for $9.99 or whatever the price was at that time. Instead I had to buy them for my loose and MOC collections at between $25-$70 each over the years since, which is slightly more than the cost of petrol of driving to a Walmart somewhere in Southern California...
I can only console myself with the knowledge that at that time with series 1 it was The Undertaker and Ultimate Warrior who were the rare ones, since they released those later than the other four before replacing Roman and Owens in the remaining cases and making them so rare, so if I had gone to a Walmart with all six guys on the pegs then I probably would’ve bought extras of Warrior and Taker rather than of Reigns and Owens, and they aren’t anywhere near as valuable (though the eBay value of the line in general continues to raise).
So if I hadn’t have made the stupid decision not to go to Walmart, then I almost certainly would’ve made the stupid decision to load-up on Takers and Warriors. But even so, I still would’ve grabbed at least one of each guy if they had available at whichever Walmart I’d have rambled into, so the decision not to go to a Walmart was an annoyingly expensive mistake.

Demolition ax and smash for 15$ each MOC on Amazon around 2014, when amazon was selling a lot of Mattel’s old lines like Defining moments and entrance greats real cheap. Still picked up an EG Ted Dibiase and roddy piper

Really there’s several since I took a bit of a break from wrestling figures for almost a year. Looking back though these stand out the most:
Ringside DX HBK, Kevin Nash, Scott Hal Network Undertaker Champions? Road Dogg and Billy Gunn Elite XPac Elite 71 Big Show

For me it's pretty much the early Legends series figures. I was one of those people that swore off wrestling figures with the switch over from Jakks to Mattel. Around 2016 I got the itch back and realized a huge number of figures I desired now were very expensive.

Elite 31 Vader. I saw one in stores at a K-Mart and now it’s my most wanted figure I have to get. So expensive on eBay...

Not wrestling (But I do have them too) is a sealed Dick Tracy Blank figure for $60 in 97. Wrestling Shawn Michaels sealed Hasbro for $30 by the same guy. Damn I was stupid at 13. Worse is I knew it too at the time.

never understood buying figures for resale value. I buy them to keep and only once have I grabbed more than one of the same figure at retail. It was the DM Sting bc that's his defining attire. So many cheaper and easier things out there to flip than figures but to each their own I guess lol

Target exclusive New Age Outlaws. Saw them once and never again. I have the older ones but I regret not getting the newer figures.
