Why is Billy Gunn ORANGE?

Okay, I need help.

I don't like the Billy Gunn figures released for TTL. The short, spike-ish hair mould used the most often looks like an anime character with no detail and the R3 head just looks old. The two pre-Real Scan heads aren't even worth discussing.

So there are three that got my interest in terms of getting that long hair, Mr. Ass Billy Gunn sweet spot right - Famous Scenes with The Rock (seemingly impossible to find loosey), Wiseguyz head on a body swap, or Double Slam with Triple H. But good lord, what's wrong with that last figure?

I have tried searching everywhere for some fake tan related storyline, but I can't find anything - not only is 'Mr. BA' absolutely smeared in a layer of Cheeto dust, but they even added paint strokes specifically to his white boots. I actually have this figure on the way as it's been bundled with a Trash Talkin' Stage and I'm scared to even put my hands on it.

Can anyone offer some comment, intel or anything at all on this Trump-esque figure? I'm trying to scratch that figure itch but I'm just left scratching my head.

Right, I'm gonna put my hands up here and say I owned this figure when I was younger. In my defence, I bought it for the Triple H & the title. I had the TTL Heat? I wanna say, pink trunks Billy and that was my go to, so this figure sat at the bottom of my figure box for years. Even at 8 I knew this figure blew. Why he's orange, I have no idea. It was such a bad figure, and to be honest, most of his TTL's in my opinion weren't up to much but that one in particular was horrible.

guessing it was done to (poorly)replicate a fake tan. why they put it on the boots too is still a mystery 20 years later

same here! and what I read, from another poster. I bought it online when it was 5$ for triple h figure, the belt, & kneepads. being the kneepads was pretty bad ass with the crown on it.

I would argue the figure being discussed is closer to his skin tone at the time than any other figure produced.

I have The Famous scenes billy Gunn and yeah it’s really damn near extinct in terms of finding one I Put A old shane McMahon dx x-punk t shirt on it so it meshes in well with my XPac tori and road DOGG figures all decked out in black and green

There's a variant of that Billy that seems to be a little less tanned and has more realistically coloured hair.

Honestly one of my favorite figures growing up. I was such a Gunn mark and wished he would get a run with the belt. Never noticed how orange he was though.

Billy Gunn might go down in history as a guy with having multiple jakks figures and always having the worst head sculpts and other issues

But to point out, my fav Billy Gunn was the FS4 Set with Rock, it was the DS4 figure in gear with fixed skin, I liked it better then the TTL10 which I guess is second best gunn.. still doesnt look like him.

lol I knew this was coming when I seen the title of the thread. I had this figure also and as someone touched on, the KOTR knee-pads were so accurate its just a pity they didnt get the trunks to match.

The one in the title four pack looked like a bald friend of mine wearing a bad wig. I think I even took the hair off of the figure (this was years before I met my friend) because I knew he would be bald underneath. Road Dogg usually had issues too with his figures. I get Jakks couldn't do anything profane on the figures but why bother doing anything at all? Keep Billy's tights blank or don't produced him with a shirt and above all, don't make a shirt for Road Dogg that points to his thigh with the question "down where?"
