Because WWE doesn't need to lay people off unless their tv or blood money revenue isn't coming in. Their production costs are at an all time low, so unless they're releasing people who asked to be released it's a really sh*tty move. They could potentially lose their current TV deal if they do not produce enough live shows. You have no idea what goes into their day-to-day business. No one knows how long this could last. They, as a business, need to prepare for the worst. It definitely sucks for the talent, but it was going to happen eventually. But they didn't lose their deal. They're cutting costs when they don't need to.

So much for stockpiling talent, what a terrible day. After this is over i bet some people will be brought back but others are probably happy to have been released.

There's no way to look at this without a level of suspicion. Yes, it is a business. But the fact they've donated to politicians a few days ago, then deemed an essential service, only to go on to mass firings/layoffs, looks bad on paper any way you slice it. It's a lot of smoke. WWE has needed to clear house for years now and this is going to end up a huge positive for the wrestling business. It's a shame it has to come with such seemingly shady and nefarious means though. I think there's a bigger story here than just cutting talent and furloughing staff and crew. Yeah the bigger story is called the Coronavirus and its lasting impact on businesses and people.

For real dude, look at their very public and easy to find financials and THEN tell me why these firings and furloughs are necessary.

On one hand we're living in very uncertain times and WWE is indeed a business that needs to prepare for the worst. On the other hand, let's not pretend WWE is a struggling small business needing to cut things to keep the lights on.

You do not run this business. Do you not want to be a fan anymore because they let Primo and Epico go? No one is making you watch.

From what I have seen, you rip the WWE constantly, so you aren't going to listen to any opinion other than your own on this subject. This is an awful day for these men and women, period.

Because you don't have an argument besides Vince can do whatever he wants when he wants. Which in that case you're right. Congrats! I'm coming at this from a financial and ethical stance that says this doesn't need to be happening unless they're about to lose a cornerstone of their income.

They're a publicly traded company that legally has to show the public their books. Do a google search for them.
