AEW shouldn't be hiring people right now, the wrestling business isn't doing great right now. Vince McMahon & The Khan Family are worth Billion of Dollars and have to pay their staff but right now there isn't much money coming in right now, no ticket sales and I doubt people are being anything from their web stores and plus they are relying on their television rights money. I could see them signing MAYBE 2-3 people from today's WWE cuts.

This. When your shows are doing $0 live gate, its not the best time to be hiring new talent.

I'm sure AEW is losing money too at the moment. Sure, they may not of had mass releases (yet) but as Goldust pointed out, half of them are EVP's and their roster is a small fraction of WWE's. So even if they can afford to hold onto their talent for now, there is no guarantee they're willing to dish out a ton of money till things settle down.

That's the reason why today's releases really bother me. Like the Revival release, it seems WWE used this inopportune hiring opportunity for other promotions to cut the talent being held for the sake of it so as not to risk someone else getting a rub.

This is so crazy I feel like people are being purged out quicker than I can keep up with. Dome big names being let go too.

Yeah, you can defend WWE being a business all you want and having profit margins to meet, but if they haven't been insisting they're essential and feel the need to continue producing new content because they're "woven into the fabric of society" this most likely wouldn't need to be done. I'm not really complaining that much, WWE's undercard has been stuffed to a bursting point for years now and they've needed to clean house for a while. Gallows and Anderson could still be used, but WWE barely has a tag division so it's probably best for them to move on.

Dammit. I don't give a hug what anyone else says, I thought Rusev could have been a big deal. He should have gotten a shot.

This times 1000. I feel terrible for the talent, but hope that most of these guys can find new opportunities and show what they can do. It may take a few months before the dust settles, but I think we'll still see a wide range of opportunities out there for talent.

Drake Mavericks Twitter post is soul crushing. I do not wish anyone to lose their jobs and this is just typical WWE bullshit.
Why not cut how much to pay top performers? Contracts have guarantees and such. I mean we know Roman, Rollins, Cena, Taker, and others are making serious banks. I wonder if Lesner is still under a hefty contract?
Fire the wrestlers who are there day in and day out... Perfect.

What about the 60+ million people in this country that have been laid off and don’t make six figures or more a year?
Where’s y’all’s outrage in that?
