Man.. I dunno Money talks. Scar Jo and RDJ both died on screen and BOOM they’re both in a new movie. Granted, it’s set before they died. In 2024 we aren't gonna get a "What REALLY happened between Endgame and Far From Home?" movie. They'll phase him out to avoid further contractual issues. MCU doesn't really need Spider-Man if guys like Thor, Hulk and new Cap are sticking around. I think you misunderstood my point. I’m not saying they’ll make a past setting movie. I’m saying that RDJ was crying when he said I am Ironman because it was a reshoot and he was torn up emotionally because he had already said goodbye to the role, per numerous reports. That said, boom, he’s in Black Widow. Disney likes money. Disney had a 9 movie plan for Spidey and Holland. The fans love the MCU and also Holland. The door was closed, per Sony up until last night. Money talks.

They’re willing to go through the contract disputes to keep Spidey in the MCU as it makes the universe worth much more.

Pretty much the two biggest moneymakers for Marvel I still think are Spidey and Wolverine ( and The X-Men) Followed by the cumulative Avengers, Cap, and Ironman and Thor at this point overall. It’s weird to me that they didn’t immediately use this phase and one of the next 3 movies to begin to introduce/integrate the main X characters and Mutants into the Cinematic Universe. Same with fast tracking FF. Losing Rogers and Stark in current time (yes, they make flashback appearances) you’d think they’d put X-Men and FF at the ready in case the Spidey situation gets bad again. But then again, I could be totally of base. I’m just a comic nerd from back in the 80s

No reason to rush FF or the mutants at all really: 1) They own them outright, so there's no time limit. 2) They probably want to put a little bit of distance between their movies and the last few releases starring these characters. 3) They already had a plan drawn out that DIDN'T include these new characters, so why jimmy that up? Phase four will do just fine. Widow, Strange 2, Thor 4, and Spidey 3 are all going to make money, and everyone's going to be concerned about Shang-Chi and Eternals until we get mind blowing trailers and all start throwing our wallets at them. Besides, all this multiverse stuff that's being set up in this phase is a perfect way to bring everyone from X-Men and FF into the MCU.

Don’t know if that’s gonna change with Marvel’s involvement

So I sat down & watched all four of the McEvoy X Movies on Sunday. Shite weather & I was in a kinda "X Humor" so I let it roll.
I rank them as follows
Days Of Future Past (Rogue Cut) First Class Dark Phoenix Apocalypse
Apocalypse comes last because it squanders a great X-villain. It was very disappointing to me and I enjoyed DP a lot more. the train sequence was very entertaining. DP wasn't without its flaws obviously but on the 2nd viewing it was a lot more enjoyable.

So I'm not going to doubt it now.

I was pretty harsh on Dark Phoenix after I saw it in theatres, but I think the fact it came after Endgame and I had seen some other really good movies this year already set the bar really high. So I am kind of looking forward to giving it a second chance on Blu-Ray when it comes out next week. I loved Days of Future Past, even with the changes I still really enjoyed the movie..... but I still have not seen The Rogue Cut! I really need to check that out. As the "standard" Days of Future Past is one of my favourite comic book movies, I am not sure why I have never pulled the trigger on the Rogue Cut.

I felt it started off excellent... really really good. Loved the tease at the end of DOFP too... LOVED it. But for me? Movie fell flat around the middle & never recovered.

I honestly think if they make the Apocalypse costume design more comic accurate and make better use of Psylocke, who I thought was awesome, then Apocalypse ends up right near the top of everyone's favorite X-Men films. The first and third acts are really good imo. I think it suffered somewhat from unrealistic expectation coming off of DoFP, too. For me, Apocalypse is a considerably better movie than how people talk about it, and probably my third favorite behind DoFP RC and X2.
I don't think any of the X-Men films are bad other than The Last Stand. Even that film has more good moments than what people give it credit for imo. I also don't think that original X-Men trilogy gets enough credit for really pioneering this comic book boom. We got X-men in 2000, and that got us Spider-man. Which led to Daredevil and Hulk for better or worse, but also Hellboy, Punisher, Sin City, V for Vendetta, and then, of course, Batman Begins. We don't get to Iron Man without X-Men imo. It's easy to forget that Batman & Robin left commercial comic book adaptations in a really horrible place in 97, and X-Men turned that tide.

Was reading an interview with Ed Norton yesterday about his involvement with Marvel and his disagreements about the Hulk movie etc. In it he confirms He wouldn't have taken a pay cut in lieu of the box office like everyone else to get Avengers made. I personally glad he bounced when he did....could have caused all kind of sh*t down the road or during Avengers.
So I stuck on The Incredible Hulk. Its a movie I'm still VERY fond of....its VERY underrated. Pity Liv Tyler never got chance to reprise her role. I was personally delighted to see Hurt return as Ross in Civil war too.

It's being reported that Kevin Feige is now officially in charge of EVERYTHING Marvel. All movies, all tv, and all media. It all goes through him.
