Cole Hamels won't start Sunday as planned after experiencing elbow soreness during a bullpen session Thursday. The Phillies are still trying to pass this off as a minor issue. "There's nothing structurally wrong; the ligament's attached," assistant GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said. "We have no reason to believe this to be anything long term." Except for the fact that he's a 23-year-old pitcher with a history of serious arm issues. Hamels described the discomfort as minimal. He's to be shut down for another six days, so even in a best-case scenario, he'll make just three or four starts next month. Adam Eaton will pitch Sunday in his place. They need to shut Hole down, if he hasta get TJ surgery, the Phillies are ed

A suspension for a pitcher is such a joke, especially for a guy who wasnt gonna pitch for 2 days anyways, but you never know with Jumpin Joe

If that's true about Joba's suspension, then oh, well. He can just appeal the suspension, pitch 2 innings on Sunday and then serve the suspension when he would get 2 consecutive days off anyway on Monday and Tuesday.
I think the fact they're suspending him is hilarious, but it's no big deal.

I think the fact they're suspending him is hilarious, but it's no big deal. It's on Yankees.com, so it's true. It says he begins it tonight, so he will not pitch today or tomorrow, which screws up the plan of pitching him Saturday and than having him for Monday and Wednesday against Seattle in those CRUCIAL games, now we only can use him ONCE and risk losing 2 out 3 to Seattle with an awful bullpen. Just call me Mr. Doom and Gloom

Sometimes you guys do not understand how baseball works: Why the would he appeal? They are playing Tampa Bay, just take the 2 games WHICH HE WASNT GOING TO PITCH IN MOST LIKELY and be ready for Seattle. And once you get thrown out of a game you are gonna be suspended for throwing at someone, so Thug, blame the rule book for that. There are A LOT of people especially NY writers saying Joba was aiming at Youk, so now that there is a cloud of doubt...its 2 games for a reliever, its not a big deal. But it's against the Yankees so its hilarious .
