kind of a weird time to fire both the gm and manager but can't say they weren't deserving.
purpura's deal for Jason Jennings was a dog from the start and Jennings sucking only made it worse.

Now dont take offense to this Asia but the Astros are a ing joke who have constantly in the past year ed themselves worse than any other team in the majors. Once they lost Clemens and Pettite, they made one of the worst trades ever for Jason Jennings, which was a desperation move. Then this draft, they failed to sign ANY of their draft picks. Garner and Purpura should have been fired in the offseason, now this team is gonna be a mess for this offseason and with no real direction. Jimmy, you are in luck, you have a team the Reds will be better than for the next few years

I agree 100% Ralpho They should have signed Pettitte and not ed around with Jon Garland while still in negotiations to play "hardball" Jennings trade was terrible and i at the time thought it was passable due to - Willy T being a Boras client and FA anyway at the end of the season - Hirsh not really performing to standards - Buchholz being used as a Starter when obviously as seen by his stuff in colorado should be a bullpen guy - They SHOULD have signed the draft picks, thats just terrible un-excusable managing and im glad both are gone Astros are in a terrible division and even with this horrible regime have been as close as 7 1/2 just 2 weeks ago. However they need s legit #2 Starter and not some #3 Starter turned into a #2... I doubt Jennings will be back and im glad, Jennings,Garner and Pupura gone does nothing but help this team.

Nah, Wily T is not a FA, hes still a few years away with his arbirtatrion. Thats the kicker probably.
Garland would have been really good in the NL, but Jennings was an iffy move anyways.

The Yankees still might win tonight, but the way Mussina has pitched....RIP.

it's 6-0....Mussina is awful.....that's the ballgame.....and probably the season. Oh well, I guess I'll go watch RAW at 9, at least Triple H is back.

purpura was absolutely terrible, but the REAL problem on that team is drayton mcclane, who is a shitty owner. they're never gonna win until he's gone.

The Yankees aren't done. They're only 2 or 3 games out of the Wild Card and have an easier schedule for the remainder of the season than Seattle does. I firmly believe that the Wild Card will come from either the Yankees or Mariners...the only AL Central team making the postseason is whoever wins the division.
With that being said, the Yankees have a long road ahead simply for the fact that Mussina really looks like he has nothing left. It'd be one thing if this was a Mariano Rivera situation where he goes through a slump every August, but Mussina has looked terrible all year long. His velocity has decreased dramatically, his control is way off...he's just a mess all around.
Even if the Yankees make a change (and I hope they do), they're going to be sticking a kid in the rotation during the last few crucial weeks of a pennant race. It's not like they can do any worse than Mussina, but I don't see the Yankees rushing up Ian Kennedy. I have an unfortunate feeling that if Mussina loses his rotation spot, he'll be getting replaced by someone like Karstens or (*sigh*) Igawa.
It's really a shame that this is likely going to be the end of Mussina's career, but I just honestly don't think he has anything left. I hope I'm wrong, but one way or another I don't expect Mussina to be back next year. The Yankees may buy out the final year of his contract if he's willing to retire or the most likely scenario I can see happening is trading him to an NL team over the offseason. No matter how shitty he's been, teams will still want him if guys like Wells and Jeff Weaver can continue to find work.

Wild Card doenst count in Lorenzos world because 2nd place is last place, losers are users.
When I say the Yankees are done, I mean the division, because thats all that matters.
Right Lo Zo
