Does anyone have a good method for adding dimples and creases to a figures face? I was thinking of heating a pointed tool and pressing it in but I'm worried it may just burn / bubble the plastic rather than create an indentation. Has anyone done anything like this?

I've done some of this. I've recommended it before, and I'll keep singing its praises, but a good rotary tool set has some of the most varied grinding points you can find to add features and add details. You need not spend a ton of money on a brand name set like a Dremel, either. If you have some spare figure heads you can use for practice, it is a good investment for your hobby bench.
