Coco Crisp > Damon....hehehe nah they both suck pretty bad.....Crisp has 3 more RBI's and 18 more hits....other than that they are exactly the same.....useless.

I disagree my son:
Coco since June 1: 338/4HR/24RBI/382OBP in 172 AB Damon since June 1: 228/2HR/19RBI/322OBP in 167AB
Not to mention...Damon 13$ million....Coco 3.5$ million.
Theo Epstein sucks at times, but this time he got it right

I agree with WOJC, it'd be a bad trade but Proctors arm is going to fall off.
The Rays wanna make him a starter, yikes

you ralpho, i spent like 20 mins researching the stats on damon and coco since june 1st and ****, just to come back to see you did the same thing. im posting what i did anyways... ----- coco right now is way more valueable than damon, here's why: coco: played in a total 93/102 games so far this year, and in all 93 of those games were in CF on may 30th his batting average was .229, and since june 1st coco has hit at a .338 tear and has raised his batting average up to the .282 it stands at today. and during that stretch an OBP of .382 ------- Damon: damon has only played 52/90 games he has played this year in the field (1B and OF) and has played 31 games this year as the DH on may 30th his batting average was .264 higher than coco's .229, but since june 1st he has hit at .228 and lowered his batting average to the .245 it stands at now. and in that stretch has a .328 OBP so yea, coco is just as useless as damon

As much as Johnny Damon has sucked this year, the blame can be placed on the Yankees front office and Johnny himself for not putting his ass on the DL when he needed to be on it. If he shut it down for 3 or 4 weeks, he likely would have put up better stats.
I'm not giving up on the Johnny Damon signing yet. He's been hurt basically the whole season, and now that he's supposedly healthy he's been starting to finally hit. I refuse to believe that this is what Damon has become and will be for the next 2 years. I fully expect him to be back to himself again next year.

I agree with Thug sorta, he is an ego maniac and should have went on the DL but everyone said that in the last 1-2 years of his deal he would be a trainwreck out there, probably not this bad but you probably wont see a Damon year like last year anymore, especially at 13$ a year when Coco is making under 4$, and Johnny Damon Jr aka Jacoby Ellsbury in 2008 will be making like 300K

So tonight the yankees will finish the last 1 1/2 innings then immediately start the new game. Should be a quick win up by 2 runs.
So Mo most likely will finish the first game, I guess.

Yeah and you guys use those stats to try and cover up things. I could say that since yesterday, Coco Crisp is better than Alex Rodriguez because A-Rod didn't get any hits yesterday and Crisp got two. Thats how you guys bend the stats to make people look better by saying since June whatever he's done this ignoring the majority of the season where Helen Keller had a better eye on the ball.
At the the end of the day, the bottom line is that all people care about is what you did on the YEAR. When Coco Crisp ends his season with under 55 RBI's nobody is going to care about the stretch of 2 weeks that he was hot, just like nobody cares that Johnny Damon had a good week last week because his overall season stats are despicable, as are Coco Crisps.
The good news is that Coco Crisp doesn't look as bad because he is having a bad season coming off of a HORRIFIC season, Johnny Damon is having a bad season coming off of an amazing career-high offensive season. So whatever you get from Coco Crisp is a bonus because you didn't expect anything from him and all of you either predicted he'd be gone or WANTED him gone by now.

I don't even think it's Johnny's ego that was forcing him to play as much as it was him trying to defend his pride. In his mind, Damon probably was thinking that him continuing to play through his injuries was helping the team, when in reality it was really hurting the Yankees. It's not like he was just continuing to play with the worries of losing his spot to someone else if he shut it down and went on the DL.
I don't see why Damon can't hit .290, 15 HRs next season, but that's assuming he's still a starter. The team may go in another direction and just make him a bench player...it's clear that for this season, at least, Torre's intention was to give Damon practice in different positions (1B, RF, LF) to almost slowly turn him into that type of guy. The team prefers Melky right now and I think that unless the Yankees sign Hunter or (God forbid) Andruw Jones in the offseason, Melky is the team's starting center fielder come 2008.
The one thing I like about Damon is that he's a team player and will do anything to win. You can call it an act or whatever, but few players would be willing to accept a role like that. We saw how well it worked with Sheffield last season.

Nah it is part Damon's ego, he has never been on the DL and has stated he takes a lot of pride in that. I bet dollars to donuts, he fought the Yankees on being put on the DL. Seriously, 15-day DL retroactive, is not a big deal....a lot of people go on it, but why not him? Hmmmmm

wow... you never cease to ing amaze me lorenzo. But it's true....I can bend any stat I want to make somebody look good. I can say that out of his last 10 appearances Luis Vizcaino is the BEST relief pitcher in baseball. He has 10.0 innings pitched, he has gone 4-0, he has a 0.00 ERA, 10 K's, 0 BB and only 2 hits...... We all know that Jon Papelbon is better, but in HIS last 10 appearances he's 0-1 and has a given up 6 hits and has a 1.74 ERA. But if you look at the BIG PICTURE, Papelbon's SEASON stats are 10000000 times better.
