I bet you Hunter doesn't wind up going to Texas. Everyone is just assuming he's going there since he lives in Texas and said he would like to play for them. Personally, I see him going to a top AL contender if he doesn't re-sign with Minny. I can see the Yankees or Red Sox making a serious run at him.

There is 0% chance Hunter goes to Texas right now, why would the Rangers, who are sellers trade for him when they can just sign him?
Where would Hunter play in Boston or NY?
Damon gonna be a full time DH?

Damon gonna be a full time DH? Abreu likely won't be back next season, and signing Hunter would give them the Yankees the option to play Damon in one of the corner outfield spots with Melky playing relatively every other day to give Damon or Matsui a day off. Boston could always try and shop Coco and/ or JD Drew, too. I'm not saying it's definite, but I do think both teams will express interest in signing him.

as much as i'd like to trade JD drew, it won't happen his contract is too big, no one is gonna take him unless we did what we did with renteria, and take up a huge portion of his salary.

if only he was half the hitter that he is a fielder. i still believe we have a good shot this year. Gordon just came back and myers is day to day now. That should really help out the pen. Rowand has been hot all year but now he's going to have to produce at the 3 hole which i see him having no problem doing. Howard's finally awaken and looks like he's about to take off, so yea i think we're not in bad shape. the pitching just scares me, from top to bottom. hamels is fantastic, definitely the ace... but he's a 23 year old kid in his first full ML season, how much can you rely on him? moyer is good to string together a few good starts in a row, but every once and awhile he absolutely craps the bed and reminds everyone that he's 61 years old. kendrick, durbin, happ... i'll give credit where credit is due. given the circumstances, kendrick has been a really pleasant surprise. and adam eaton? well he just sucks dick the pen has been better than it looked like it would be on paper, especially factoring in the injuries. random call-ups and waiver wire additions have actually filled in pretty well. i still hate the idea of Myers in the pen, but if thats set in stone, so be it... might as well try to make the best of it and have him actually closing, rather than just doing spot duty. as far as the line-up, my concern is that there's just no need to pitch to ryan howard ever again. rowand's having a fantastic year, hitting the ball consistently to all fields... but pitchers don't fear him. and behind howard is still pat burrell, and christ knows no ones afraid of him. in fact, he's become such a double-play lock that teams probably prefer having someone on 1st base when burrell is up. i would put rollins in the 3-hole. bench burrell, put mike bourn in his spot and let bourn lead off. flyin hawaiin stays in the 2-hole, rollins 3rd, howard 4th, rowand 5th, dobbs/helms 6th, nunez 7th, ruiz 8th. it wouldn't have as much pop as the normal lineup, but i think it'd produce a lot of runs.

Why not Victorino leading off? Guy has wheels and is a very good hitter

The Yankees are trying to trade Johnny Damon....that would be great if we could package any combo of Damon and either Farnsworth or Proctor for a GOOD relief pitcher.
Because with Jason Giambi coming back next week and Johnny Damon unable to play defense or HIT the ball.....he is pretty worthless.
Johnny Damon has 36 RBI's in the 90 games he's been healthy enough to play in....I think at this point Bernie Williams would have had better numbers even at his age.
For the rest of the year I would keep Melky in center, Matsui in left, and Abreu in right. That way Jason Giambi can DH and keep Andy Phillips at 1b.
Next year I would keep Matsui in left, put Melky in right because he has a cannon and I would try and get Torii Hunter to play center. Shelly Duncan should probably be the starting first basemen next year and we will probably still be stuck with Jason Giambi as DH.

It should be Sizemore in center, Lofton against right handers in left, Michaels against left handers in left and Gutierrez in right everyday. Trot Nixon and Ben Fransisco
