Piledriver! Your fortnightly station, for information!
Welcome to your first edition of Piledriver!, The poster magazine that brings you all you need to know about the greatest wrestling promotion in the world - the USWA. As well as getting all the latest scoops, you also get a great poster of your favourite wrestlers in action, making 1992 the greatest year to be a wrestling fan. A new year, a new publication and a new look for the USWA. As you long time followers will know, the latter half of 1991 has been a difficult time down in Memphis. There is a light at the end of the tunnel as come Sunday 5th of January, USWA will be back on the air, bringing you some of your favourite South State Superstars with a brand new weekly show on the newly formed TNTV network, based in Nashville, TN. There hasn’t been any USWA programmes since August. Now you’ve probably read that two three times and are thinking "some??? i want to see them all!!". Well there have been a lot- and i do mean a lot - of changes to the federation since it ran its last show back August. To bring you up to speed, or if you're a new fan to this exciting brand of wrestling please read on to find out about the developments: • Jerry Jarret has sold 51% of the company to Nashville Knights, the parent company that also owns TNTV television superstation. Whilst Jerry has given up the majority share of the company, the benefits are immense. Not only have they secured a weekly television show, there is also rumours of a month end show to be shown on the last weekend of every month with either two or three hours allocated.TNTV will also pay an unconfirmed fee to the USWA for producing these shows. This will allow the company to invest in more talent for the shows and also offer retainers to ensure they don’t lose too many stars to other companies. This would have been ideal a couple of months ago...... • Back in November, Jerry Lawler put his title on the line against his foe, Kamala, on an episode of the GWF's TV show. Lawler lost the belt, to set up a return match once the new USWA TV show was ready to air. This has left everyone involved red faced. Kamala had signed for the WWF and was supposed to be coming back to Memphis as part of a talent exchange between the two companies. This deal has since fallen through. Not only has the original title change been shown on GWF television, but adverts for the upcoming USWA show launch have heavily featured Lawlers loss and promoted The Ugandan Giant as Champion. We will have more details on the deal that fell through in the next issue of Piledriver! but looks like the new show will be without a top dog. oooops...... • Tim Hall, Miss Texas, C.J., Bart Sawyer, Eddie Marlin and Big Black Dog also won't feature on the new show as all have since moved on. The Killer Bees, Southern Rockers and Thrill Seekers have all signed for the next few months though so that should bring exciting tag bouts to the federation....... • There are rumours going around that a big star, who has previously worked for a national wrestling company will be coming to the USWA. I’ve no confirmation of who this is but apparently they are big in both America and Japan. if this is true it will be a major boost to the Memphis based promotion...... Thats all the news for this edition but be sure to check out the other features in this publication, including a feature on one of the top stars, Jerry Lawler and how to contact us if you’ve any questions you want answered. And once you’re finished reading, be sure to hang the poster on your wall and feel a part of the action. until next time.........

USWA TV - Episode 1 IntroductionAfter the opening credits, we are introduced to the commentary team of Mike Tenay, Mick Karch and Lance Russell. Tenay welcomes everyone to the new show and runs down the matches for tonight. Lance says he'll be conducting interviews with The Moondogs and their opponents Jerry Lawler and Jeff Jarrett and will keep his eyes and ears open for anything going on back stage. The Killer Bees v Special KBasically a squash match to introduce The Killer Bees to USWA. Mike Tenay mentions their history as a tag team and how they could be a potential threat to The Moondogs. Mick Karch points out how tough champs are and that they have fought tougher teams. Brunzell pins Haynes following a dropkick. InterviewLance Russel is back stage with Richard Lee and The Moondogs: LR- "Richard, we've just seen the highly experienced Killer Bees make short work of their opponents do you see them as a threat to your clients titles?" RL-"What? those old guys we just saw? even in their prime they couldn't lace my Moondogs boots. They're has- beens and their time has passed, just like the pretender, Jerry Lawler. LR-"your team faces him and Jeff Jarrett tonight with the belts on the line its bound to be a tough test?" RL-"we look forward to taking the so called king out of action and as far as that young punk Jarrett goes, he'll be running, crying to his daddy after Spot and Spike are done having their fun" Spot-"Jerry, when you step into the ring with us tonight, you will understand why we stand tall as champions, while you disgraced yourself by losing the top belt to someone who doesnt even wrestle for the company." Spike-"Jerry, your days on top are over, after we go through you and that little punk Jarett tonight, there will be a new force ruling the USWA" RL-" 1992 will be the year that Richard Lee's crew will not only take over Memphis but will rule the wrestling world." VideoA video highlight package of the Thrillseekers plays, containing highlights of some of their matches from Canada Tony Falk v Tom PrichardSouthern champion Tom Prichard beat Tony Falk in a non title match. Falk put up little resistance and Prichard got the win after ducking a running clothesline and catching his opponent with a flying clothesline off the ropes. InterviewLance Russel catches up with Jeff Jarrett backstage: LR"Jeff, i'm not sure if you're aware of the comments made by Richard Lee and the Moondogs earlier regarding your match tonight?" JJ "yeah im fully aware Lance. And let me tell you Richard Lee, i don't run crying to anyone. i don't run from anyone. The Moondogs are tough for sure but i was taught by the best. Between my Father and our close family friend, Jerry Lawler, i got the best training by two of the best in the business. And im proud to have Jerry as my partner tonight. Moondogs, don't ever underestimate us. We're at the top of our game and i'm no fortune teller, but i see new tag team champions very soon" LR"a bold prediction Jeff, are you concerned about the presence of Lee at ringside? he's not adverse to interfering to protect his interests." JJ"if you play with fire, you get burned. if he has any sense he'll stay out of it. now if you don't mind Lance, i need to prepare for my match" LR"not at all Jeff. Good luck" The Sandman v Robert FullerNot one for fans of technical wrestling. The Sandman and Robert Fuller fought to a double count out and brawled all the way to the back. A violent and bloody affair. InterviewLance Russel backstage with Jerry Lawler: LR"Jerry, Richard Lee and the Moondogs had plenty to say about you ahead of tonights clash What's your thoughts on this?" JL"My thoughts are that Richard Lee is a moron and spot and spike are two men sharing one brain. i've been beaten before, but i always rise back to the top. Any one can beat anyone on any given night. but i think my record speaks for itself wouldnt you agree?" LR" it sure does Jerry and i know the fans agree as well. We're still waiting on a decision on the world belt but in the meantime you team with Jeff Jarrett tonight to take on the Tag champs tonight. It will be a tough test for you but how confident are you that you and Jeff can win tonight. JL"In a straight fight, Me and Jeff should have it, but rest assured we'll be keeping an eye on that piece of work at ringside. And you listen to me, DICK, you try any of your usual cheap tricks tonight, and i will dedicate the rest of my career to making your life a misery!!" LR"well thems fighting words, good luck" Tag Team Championship Jerry Lawler and Jeff Jarrett v The Moondogs (c) The Moondogs come to the ring first, accompanied by their manager. As the challengers enter the ring, they are jumped by the Moondogs and are beaten down. The Challengers soon fight back with Jerry sending Spike over the top rope with a big right hand and Jeff whips Spot into the ropes, where he colides with Richard Lee, who is up on the Apron. The over bearing manager is sent to the floor, closely followed by Spot, who is met by a perfectly executed drop kick by Jarrett. As the match gets under way, Jeff and Jerry have the wild brawlers under control, using frequent tags and some fine mat wrestling. The Moondogs gain a little control when Spot rakes the eyes of Jeff and follows it with some hard forearms and a bodyslam. Spot goes up to the second rope and attempts a knee drop. Jeff rolls out of the way as the Moondog crashes knee first to the mat. Jeff slaps on a figure four leglock. At this point, Tom Prichard comes down to ringside to taunt and distract Jeff. Lawler chases Tom down the aisle. A masked man comes out of the shadows and sprays green mist in the eyes of Jerry and the mystery man and Tom beat the King down. Distracted, Jeff is rolled up by Spike for the cheap victory for The Moondogs. Jeff runs down the aisle to help his friend out, but is assaulted by Prichard and the masked man, who is now clearly shown on screen as The Great Muta. The Moondogs now arrive and continue the assault, as Richard Lee puts his arm around the shoulders of Muta and Laughs. The camera shows a beaten and bloody Jerry Lawler as it fades to black and the end credits roll.

USWA TV - Episode 2 IntroductionMike Tenay, Mick Karch and Lance Russell introduce the show. Mike says there will be an announcement about the World Heavyweight Title tonight as well as the in ring debut of The Great Muta. Lance goes on to discuss, what he describes as, a sickening attack by the "Lee crew" last week. Mick suggests that Lawler is getting too old to be considered as the top man in the USWA and that Richard Lee is assembling a great stable of wrestlers that will be the future of professional wrestling. Mike Tenay tells viewers that both Jerry Lawler and Jeff Jarrett won't be here tonight because of injuries sustained last week but has pre recorded comments available from Lawler. VideoJerry Lawler is in his home and is bruised and bandaged up: "Richard Lee, you really are a piece of work. Both myself and Jeff had you're so-called champions beaten last week and you just couldnt take it could you?! You say i'm a has-been, yesterdays news but your Moondogs couldnt get the job done on their own. So you hired some help. You had your new boys sneak attack me. But worse than that, you hurt my friend. I've known Jeff all his life and when you beat him down you hurt me so deep. A pain like ive never felt. Now thankfully Jeff isn't too badly hurt. He'll be back next week. But that doesn't get you off the hook, not by a long shot. So, on behalf of Jeff and myself, i challenge you to get your boys together next week, that sneak Prichard and that piece of work from the orient The "Average" Muta and we will face you next week. If you've any guts, which i doubt, you'll accept our challenge. And please, i beg of you, please be at ringside and get yourself involved in the match. Once Jeff has sent Pritchard packing and Muta is lying in the ring out cold i promise you i,ll pick you up and drive your head through the canvas" Tag Team Titles The Moondogs v Tony Falk/Danny DavisThe Moondogs had control of this match until Spot goes for a back body drop. As he drops his head, Davis hangs onto the ropes to stop his momentum and kicks Spot in the head and makes the tag to Falk. Falk comes in and lays some heavy punches on Spot and hits the ropes for a clothesline, but Lee grabs his ankle. Falk reaches through the ropes to grab Lee but Spike blasts him over the head with a bone. The Ref is trying to stop Davis from coming in the ring and turns to see Spot cover Falk and delivers the three count. InterviewLance Russell is waiting in the aisle to try and catch lee for a comment but is pushed aside by Spike as Spot holds his belt up to the camera. Mike Tenay in the ringTenay is in the ring with a piece of paper in his hand. "Ladies and gentlemen. I have received a memo from the board of directors. As you know, since The Ugandan Giant Kamala was our Heavyweight Champion but has now left the company, there has been some confusion around this situation. After much deliberation from the board, I can announce that the belt has been declared vacant. At our end of the month television special, on Saturday 25th January, it has been decided that there will be a special 10 man Battle Royal with the winner being crowned our new champion. We will announce participants on the shows leading up to this event. Now you, the fans can get involved in the selection of the first participant by phoning the special 1-900 number shown on screen now. lines will be open until this coming Friday. And for those of you in the arena, the details are in your event programme on page 7. If you haven't got a copy yet, there is a limited number available from the concession stands. Don't miss out on this opportunity to get involed!" The Killer Bees v Doug Masters/Dirty White Boy w/ Dirty White Girl
A back and forth match which the Killer Bees won after Brunzell caught Masters with a slingshot sunset flip from the outside. During the match the commentators discussed the upcoming Battle Royal for the Championship. VideoAnother video hyping the soon to debut Thrillseekers played, this time showing clips of their matches from Japan and Mexico. InterviewLance Russell is standing backstage with Richard Lee and The Great Muta LR - "Richard, you have been issued a challenge for next week with your two new acquisitions to square off against Jerry Lawler and Jeff Jarrett, how do you respond to that? RL - "Aw is the poor King hurt because we beat up his special little friend? Aw boohoo! The "Burger" King is calling my man here "average"? He must still have a concussion if he thinks the greatest star from the Orient is average. And i also think its smart on the Kings part to make the challenge while he's still injured, so when they lose next week he can claim that he wasn't at 100%. And after next week, he'll never be 100% again. LR - "So you accept then?" RL - "Yeah we accept. But i do have one stipulation" LR - "Yeah what's that?" RL - "That when my boys beat them, neither can enter the Championship Battle Royal" LR - "And if you lose your "boys" won't enter?" RL - "No i never said that. That's my offer. If he doesn't agree then no match. Now get out of my face" Austin Idol v The Great MutaIdol put up a great fight, but Muta got the pin in the end. Idol had thrown Muta into the corner and followed with a shoulder, but Muta moved out the way. Idol hit his head against the steel post and fell back. Muta climbed to the top rope and hit the moonsault. During the match Mike Tenay announced that Lawler had phoned in and accepted the conditions for the match next week so it will go ahead. Muta stood on the second rope celebrating, while Lee was in the ring clapping and pointing at his charge as the screen went black and the end credits rolled.

USWA TV - Episode 3 IntroductionMike Tenay, Mick Karch and Lance Russell introduce the show. They announce the result of the phone in and the wrestler with the most votes was Jerry Lawler. Karch points out that if Lawler and Jarrett were to lose the match against Muta and Prichard, then he won't be able to compete in the Battle Royal. Lance argues that the faith shown by the fans will give him extra motivation to win the match. They discuss the upcoming Battle Royal and confirm that Austin Idol, Eric Embry, Brian Christopher, Robert Fuller, Tom Prichard and The Great Muta have all been confirmed as participants. Jarrett and Lawler will also be involved if they win the main event match tonight. Also confirmed for the show, The Thrillseekers will make their debut and The Moondogs will compete in a non-title match against The Killer Bees. InterviewLance Russell is in the locker room with Jerry Lawler and Jeff Jarrett: LR - "well, the challenge you made last week has been accepted. it does however have the stipulation that should you lose, you miss out on the chance to participate in the Championship Battle Royal this Saturday. what's your thoughts on that?" JL - "it's typical of of Richard Lee really. But in the end it doesn't make a blind bit of difference because we won't lose this match" JJ - "And Lee might think he's got the upper hand with the numbers but we've got a trick up our sleeves" LR - "care to explain?" JL - "well Lance, you'll just need to watch and find out" Austin Idol v Brian ChristopherTwo of the competitors in the Championship Battle Royal square off here in an evenly fought match. Idol has Christopher pinned with a roll up but Brian manages to reverse it and holds on to the tights for leverage. Christopher runs half way up the entrance ramp and turns to face his beaten foe. He gestures his hands accross his stomach to signal a belt, much to the chagrin of Idol. The Southern Rockers v Special KThe Rockers make their debut here and start off with a win as Doll pinned Eric after the Rockerplex fromm the top rope. VideoYet another video showcasing the young, exciting team of The Thrillseekers. After clips of their matches, the video ended with the caption "coming on the 25th" InterviewLance Russell is back stage with Richard Lee, Tom Pritchard and The Great Muta. Lee appears upset and grabs the mike of Russell before he has a chance to speak. RL - "You listen here, Jarrett and King, i don't know what tricks you think you're going to pull tonight but they won't work! Do you hear me?! I'm saying it won't work. We're giving you the match you asked for and you want to get all underhand about it? Totally unacceptable! But my boys are fully prepared for this. and i mean all my boys! come on guys it's showtime" Lee throws the microphone down and storms off followed by Muta and Prichard. Jerry Lawler and Jeff Jarrett v The Great Muta and Tom PrichardMuta and Prichard are walking towards the ring, when Jarrett and Lawler come sprinting down the aisle and attack them from behind. Lee is knocked down by a strong right hand from Lawler. all four wrestlers continue brawling towards the ring. The referee starts the match and all four continue brawling around ringside. Lawler piledrives Muta on top of the announcers table. Jarrett has Prichard in a figure four. Lee is getting up to his feet in the aisle and starts waving to the back. The Moondogs come running down to the ring and attack Jeff and Jerry, causing a disqualification. The assault continues until The Killer Bees come running down and get the upper hand on The Moondogs. All four of Lees charges leave the ring and head for the locker room. Lee tries to sneak past but is caught by Brunzell, who throws him into the ring. Tom Prichard heads back down to the ring, but is met by Jarrett who knocks him down with a right hand. Back in the ring, Lawler piledrives Lee in the middle of the ring. The crowd cheers this as the show draws to a close.

USWA Television Special - January
IntroductionMike Tenay is ringside along with Lance Russell and special guest commentator Bill Dundee. Lance welcomes Dundee and asks how it feels to be back in the USWA for this special television presentation. Dundee tells him he is excited to be part of this and is equally excited to see a new champion crowned tonight. He also says that he's been backstage catching up with the boys and has found out that there is two surprise entries into the match tonight and one in particular will be no stranger to the fans in Tennessee. InterviewThe new tag team of The Thrillseekers are standing by with interviewer Johnny Valiant: JV - "I have here the exciting new tag team of the Thrillseekers, famous for their high flying ability. These two young men have landed here in the USWA. Welcome guys, glad you can be here" LS - "Thanks Johnny, we're glad to be here" JV - "You've been together for two years now, but it's your first time here. What can the fans expext from you and what are your long term plans in the USWA?" LH - "The fans can expect to see high flying, high risk action every time we step in the ring. As far as long term plans go, as my partner said we are glad to be here and we won't shy away from any challenge laid before us" JV - "Well you have a big challenge ahead of you tonght in the form of Doug Masters and The Dirty White Boy. These guys have great experience and are two of the toughest guys in wrestling. Do you think you'll get a victory tonight?" LS - "We've wrestled all over the world and everywhere we've been, people always write us off as a couple of young punks but we always buck the trend and come out on top. Tonight will be no different" LH - "Watch this space" The Thrillseekers v Doug Masters and Dirty White Boy
A tremendous match. Masters and DWB were caught out in the beginning by the pace and moveset of The young Canadians but soon got the upper hand when Lance missed a dropkick on Masters, and landed badly. Masters lays in two boots and drops an elbow on Storms chest. Masters whips him into the ropes and catches a big body slam. Using frequent tags, the Veterens take it in turns to work over the weakened and vulnerable Storm. The flow of the match changes when DWB takes his time going up to the second rope to line up a fist drop. DWB turns to the crowd and yells it's over and flies off the second turnbuckle. Storm rolls out the way as his opponent crashes into the mat. Both men make way to their respective corners, with DWB making the tag first. As Masters comes charging over, Storm makes a final leap over and tags lionheart, who springs over the top rope landing a kick on Masters. Lionheart easily gains the upper hand on Masters, and when DWB tries to attack from behind, the youngster ducks, causing DWB to clothesline his own partner. A recovering Storm pulls DWB out of the ring as Lionheart jumps on the second rope and does a moonsault ont the dazed Doug Masters to score the pinfall for his team. VideoA recap video of The Killer Bees chasing the Moondogs away from last Sundays TV show is shown, with the commentators talking about the upcoming match between the two teams. Lance Russell thinks The Killer Bees will come out on top, but Bill Dundee talks about his previous battles with The Moondogs and how tough they are. The Moondogs v The Killer Bees. (non title) The Bees prove that they're just as comfortable in a brawl as they are in a technical bout. This resembled a tornado match with all four men going at it for the majority of the match. Trying to regain some control, the referee ushers Brunzell to his corner. With the refs back turned, Spike grabs Blair from behind and holds him. Spot grabs the large bone they always take to the ring, bounces off the ropes and runs to hit The Killer Bee with it. B. Brian ducks and Spike gets hit full force with the bone, which snaps. Spot looks on in shock and doesn't notice Blair coming off the ropes with a flying shoulder. Spot goes through the ropes as the Bee man covers Spike for the victory. The Killer Bees celebrate as Richard Lee grabs the title belts, walks to the back repeatedly saying to the camera "we still got the belts". The Southern Rockers v Special KIn a rematch from last Sunday, Special K put up a better fight than last weekbut unfortunately for them the result was still the same. Steven Doll got the pin after a rockerplex on Keith Haynes. InterviewJohnny Valliant is backstage with Richard Lee. JV - "Richard, the Championship Battle Royal is next and you've got a double chance of winning, with both Tom Prichard and The Great Muta entered. YYou must be feeling confident." RL - "Of course i'm feeling confident, i've got the two greatest single wrestlers in the world competing in a match for the world belt and let's be honest here there isn't much competition in the match now is there?" JV - "well there's Jeff Jarrett and Jerry Lawler to name but two" RL - " (angrily)You know what i'm sick to death of hearing about those two losers. After tonight when one of my guys takes home the big one, Lawler, you can forget about getting a title shot ever again, and Jarrett, You're nowhere near that level. You're not even worthy of my Tom's Southern Title. Your Dad was someone to be respected, but you sunshine? you don't even register. Now here this message loud and clear, when the World Title comes home to the Lee stable, you two punks keep away from my business. Consider this your final warning!" Championship Battle Royal Special guest ring announcer Miss Texas introduces the contestants for the Battle Royal. The line up consists of Austin Idol, Eric Embry Jeff Jarrett, Jerry Lawler, Brian Christopher, Robert Fuller, Tom Prichard and The Great Muta. Miss Texas then announces the two special entries into the event. Firstly independant veteran Al Snow and finally surprise guest The Honky Tonk Man. Elimination 1The match starts with a bang as all ten men start brawling, with natural feuds commensing. Muta and Prichard attack Lawler in the corner as Christopher and Jarrett exchange punches, preventing the latter from helping Lawler. Al Snow has Honky in a headlock. Fuller delivers a clothesline to Embry sending him over the top rope and to the floor for the first elimination Elimination 2&3The King is hanging on for dear life as Prichard is trying to lift him over the ropes with Muta pulling his head through the ropes. Al Snow is on the ground with Fuller laying in hard boots to him. Christopher and Idol are linked arm in arm trying to throw each other over. As they struggle to keep balance, The Honky Tonk Man stops laying in to Jarrett and pushes them, eliminating both Christopher and Idol Elimination 4 Jarrett gets back to his feet and floors Honky with a flurry of right hands. Seeing Prichard, Jeff runs over and hits him with a double axe handle, causing Tom to let go of Lawler. The King gets back to his feet and lays in big right hands to Muta. Fuller has Snow by the hairand is running him to the ropes. At the last minute, Al reverses the move and uses Fullers momentum to eliminate the big man. Fuller tries to climb back in, but the ringside refs send him to the back. Elimination 5Jarrett is laying into Prichard, who is unsteady on his feet. As Jeff hits the ropes Richard Lee reaches up and pulls down the top rope causing Jeff to fall over and be eliminated. Jeff grabs hold of Lee and gets ready to throw a punch when Prichard slides out the ring and the two fight all over ringside. Eventually the brawl is split up and Prichard rejoins the match, pointing and laughing at Jarrett going up the aisle towards the dressing room. Elimination 6Prichard and Muta continue to double team the king while Honky and Snow square off. Honky lifts Snow up and goes to dump him over the top rope. Al wraps his legs around Honky and pulls them both over the top rope. Honky goes crashing to the ground, while Al holds on to the ropes and pulls himself back into the ring. Honky smacks the floor in frustration. As he walks up the aisle he gets a standing ovation from the crowd. He smiles and waves as a mutual appreciation with the fans. Elimination 7 Al Snow attacks Prichard and Muta, giving the King a well needed breather. This soon turns into a two on two situatin with the King and Muta squaring off and Snow keeping Tom busy. Snow has Prichard teetering at the edge of the ring. He runs to the opposite ropes and comes at Prichard with a flying clothesline. Tom ducks at the last minute and Al eliminates himself. End of the matchRichard Lee is positively giddy with excitement at the situation in front of him. Both his men are working together to take care of King and once he's eliminated, the belt his coming to him. Lee decides to Join the action and himself, Muta and Prichard beat down the now bloody King. Prichard and Muta grab an arm each as Lee delivers sla after slap to Lawlers face. Jerry catches Lee with a hard boot to the stomach, but is soon beaten to the mat by the other two in the ring. Muta climbs to the top rope and delivers a flying elbow to Lawlers torso. Prichard then climbs to the opposite side and delivers a devastating knee drop to the Kings chest. Almost as a game of one-upmanship, Muta then goes up again and hits a moonsault. Tom, with a smile on his face, nods to Lee who nods his head frantically and points to the top rope. Prichard climbs slowly and deliberately to the top rope, stopping to pose and gesticulate to the crowd. The fans are booing frantically as Tom cups an hand to his ear to wind them up further. A small section of the crowd starts to cheer as Jeff Jarrett jumps the crowd control barrier with a steel chair in his hand. Jeff jumps on the apron and smacks Tom with the chair, sending him flying off the top rope and through the announcers table. A stunned Lee looks at Prichards broken body, then to Jarrett, with a look of disbelief on his face. He then yells at Muta to attack. Muta runs over to where Jarrett is and sprays mist at Jeff. Jeff holds the steel chair up to block it and some sprays back into Muta's face. Meanwhile, Lawler slowly gets up to his feet and grabs Lee by the seat of his pants and throws him over the top rope. Muta gains some composure and takes a swing at Jerry, but the King ducks and delivers a huge clothesline, sending Muta over the top and to the floor. The bell rings signalling the end of the match and new champion - Jerry Lawler. Muta tries to jump back in the ring but Jarrett is in the ring with the chair and backs down. Richard Lee and his two charges slowly leave ringside, dejected. Miss Texas comes into the ring and officially announces the King as the new champion, as Jerry and Jeff celebrate.

Piledriver
Welcome to issue two of the magazine dedicated to all things USWA. Apologies for the lateness of this issue, but i wanted to hold back until after the TV special. We'll have match reports elsewhere in this issue but will bring you the happening from the month of January as well as rumours going forward right here on this page! So without further ado, lets get to it. As promised in last months issue here's the story on the deal that fell through with the WWF: Back in September of last year, Jerry Jarrett had successfully secured a spot for a wrestling show on network TNTV, a new but rapidly growing television superstation. Top executive Jason Stoker was keen to see the deal happen, being such a huge fan of the sport. The major financial backer of the superstation also bought a controlling stake in USWA and released funds to try and secure some big names for the show to support the ratings. This meant that the USWA could offer a small downside guarantee to the performers to ensure they would be available. Vince Mcmahon and his staff were keen to negotiate a deal with the USWA to trade talent and provide the company with some top names and also give some lesser known talent exposure. With this, the USWA would have become a development territory for the WWF. Vince and Co. also wanted to sign Kamala, Jeff Jarrett, Brian Christopher and Tom Prichard. Kamala had already signed an exclusive deal with WWF, when Vince got cold feet on the idea. Sources tell me that with the change of ownership, Vince viewed them more as competition, than partners, so refused to release Kamala. Vince broke this news after The Ugandan Giant had won the Heavyweight championship. Negotiations went on with Mcmahon, Jarrett and representatives from TNTV. Vince was reportedly furious that the TV station had a signed agreement in place for use of the Royal Rumble concept for the next five years. Vince asked for the agreement to be voided, but TNTV stated that they had a legally binding document and because of his unreasonable behaviour around Kamala they won't budge. Due to other pressing legal issues the WWF has, they won't be pursuing this matter. In one final swoop to damage the USWA, the WWF made offers for Jeff, Brian and Tom as well as Bart Sawyer, C.J. Eddie Marlin and Big Black Dog. They all signed exclusive deals except the first three mentioned. Jarrett and Christopher opted to stay out of loyalty to their respective Fathers. Tom Prichard, on the other hand is more interested in going to Japan and felt the exclusitivity of a WWF contract would hurt his chances. Also, being Southern Champion, Tom was reported to be uncomfortable leaving without dropping the belt first. Now that's loyalty......... In other news...... TNTV are delighted with their investment so far. Being the highest rated programme on the station, it is attracting strong offers from advertisers and bringing in great revenue. And the good news for us wrestling fans is that a lot of that money is being diverted back into the company, giving financial stability and the prospect of attracting more bigger names. Who needs the WWF eh? Speaking of big names........ The mystery wrestler thats big here and in Japan turned out to be none other than The Great Muta. NJPW wanted him to come to America again for exposure. WCW's programming was full so NJPW got in touch with Jerry Jarrett, who jumped at the chance to get such a talent for a few months. Here's hoping it's the start of a beautiful friendship........ In more TV news, the television special that was broadcast last month will now be regular feature. A main feature in Tennessee, the special was also syndicated across many states and the feedback has been positive........ Sticking with the TV special, the appearance of The Honky Tonk Man and Bill Dundee was just a one off. They may be back in the future but there are no definate plans to use them again. Sources tell me that there will likely be more special appearances by big names at these events so worth tuning in for that alone....... More TV time for the USWA. A new TV show will appear on a Monday night. but it will be a catch up show, featuring matches already broadcast......... That's all from your editor for this month. Be sure to get next months issue, available 5th March

USWA TV - Episode 4 IntroductionMike Tenay, Mick Karch and Lance Russell introduce us to another episode of USWA TV. The trio discuss last nights television special. Tenay and Russell discuss Lawlers gallant performance, with Karch calling foul play by Jeff Jarrett coming in and eliminating Prichard illegally and having an impact on Muta being eliminated. Russell says that he interviewed both Lawler and Lee, on behalf of Muta. These pre recorded comments will be coming shortly. Also tonight, Eric Embry defends his Texas title against Brian Christopher and in a special main event, Jerry Lawler teams with Jeff Jarrett and The Killer Bees to take on Richard Lee's boys - Muta, Tom Prichard and The Moondogs. InterviewJerry Lawler with Lance Russell: LR - "What a match last night Jerry, or should i say champ? JL: - "Ha ha chamo, i love it. You know, we all fight in one of the toughest companies in wrestling. And anybody can win on any given night. But you see, only the toughest constantly make it to the top.Hey Richard Lee (holds belt up) see anything you like? LR - "I'm sure he'd love to get his hands on that. The rumours floating around is that he's looking to get The Great Muta a shot at the title. If he challenges, will you accept?" JL - "That pice of work said that if any of his guys win that i wouldn't get a shot so by rights i should say no. But you've known me a long time Lance and have you ever known me to run away from anyone?" LR - "no" JL - "Exactly. any size, any weight, any background i'll face them all. But take my advice Lee, when you get your opportunity, take full advantage. Being at the top puts a target on my back and if you can't get the job done, then you'll be knocked out of contention quicker than a hiccup." InterviewRichard Lee, The Great Muta and Tom Prichard. RL - "Last night, there was a travesty, an injustice. King, you know we had you beat, you know that title doesn't rightfully belong to you. But as per usual, you took the shortcut, you took the easy way. You know that either of my boys can beat you on any given night. And Jarrett, we gave you every chance to stay away, to keep out of our business. But you had to get involved. You couldn't get the job done in the ring. Your jealousy got the better of you so you had to cheat to stop my boys winning what rightly belongs with us." TP - "Jeff, you've opened pandora's box. When you got involved last night, you released all the evils in the world. And your day is coming soon. real soon." RL - "And King, Show all your fans, take all the polaroids you can with that belt because your days of holding it are numbered" Al Snow v Dirty White Boy The Dirty White Girl tried her upmost to help her man out but the 10 year veteran Snow was too experienced to let her cause the distraction. The White Boy used every tactic going to prove how Dirty he really is but in the end, a scoop brainbuster was enough to seal the win for the Snow man. Texas Heavyweight Title Eric Embry v Brian Christopher This was Christophers' shot at winning some gold. Embry used all his experience to dominate his younger foe in the first half of the match. a clothesline, followed by two bodyslams and a chinlock kept the younger, faster Christopher. Christopher managed some offense via three elbows to the stomach and the two started brawling until a low blow gave Brian the upperhand. Embry is whipped to the rope and catches an elbow close to the throat. Christopher stays on the offense with kicks and a weardown hold of his own. Embry starts a comeback and the two exchange punches until Brian ducks and catches Eric in a full nelson, which turns into a face buster. Seeing the end in sight, the usually cocky Christopher quickly climbs the ropes and hits his foe with a devastating Tennessee Jam for the win.The cockiness is in full flow as he celebrates with the belt. VideoA highlight video of Jeff Jarrett eliminating Tom Prichard from yesterdays Championship Battle Royal is played. The Thrillseekers v Special KOn the back of their official debut, Lance and Lion Heart face off against the two Keiths here. Pretty short match with Lance storm registering the win with a crossbody from the top rope InterviewThe team of Muta, Prichard and The Moondogs are already out in the ring. The Killer Bees have headed out to ringside when Lance Russell catches a word with Jeff Jarrett: LR - "Jeff, Tom Prichard and his Manager doesn't appear to be too happy with your actions last night" JJ - "Well what they seem to be forgetting is that firstly, Richard Lee was responsible for my elimination last night and then that piece of trash gets himself involved in the match, ganging up on the King, i evened the score. I'm not gonna cry about my elimination, no sir, i take action. If Dick and Tom want to whine that's their business" (At this point Jerry Lawler comes rushing in) JL - "C'mon Jeff we need to go" Jerry Lawler, Jeff Jarrett & The Killer Bees v The Great Muta, Tom Prichard & The MoondogsJerry and Jeff come running down to ringside, where Muta and co are in the ring and they aren't letting the Killer Bees in. The two get to ringside and circle round. Any attempt to get into the ring is met by kicks from the opponents. Lawler makes an attempt to enter, Spike goes to kick, but Jerry grabs his foot and yanks him out the ring. The other Moondog and Tom jump out the ring and start brawling. The Great Muta does a plancha dive over the top rope, but The King pulls Spot in the way and Muta collides with him. Eventually, the two teams settle down and find their respective corners. Prichard and Blair start of in the ring, exchanging holds. Blair catches Tom with a back body drop, followed by a drop kick and a near fall. Spot comes in to break the fall, which brings in Brunzell. Whilst the ref is putting the Bee back to his corner, Spike blasts B. Brian with a knee drop. Back in control, Muta's team use frequent tags to work Blair over with several near falls. The team is keeping the momentum going until Spike whips Blair into the ropes and drops his head too early. The Killer Bee dives over him and catches a sunset flip for a near fall. Spike kicks out, catches Blair with a fore arm and tags in Tom. As Spike is leaving, Prichard grabs Blair and shouts for his team mate to hit the defenseless opponent. Spike hits the ropes and swings an arm but B. Brian ducks and Tom catches the blow. Shaking it off, Tom attempts a clothesline but Blair ducks, dives over to his corner and tags Jeff Jarrett. Tom tries to catch Jeff coming in but Jarrett easily gets the upper hand. after taking a beating for a couple of minutes he tags Spot, who comes running in and catches a back drop. Spike comes in to the same outcome. Muta's interference causes The King et al to enter the ring in an all out melee. The King and Muta fall out the and continue to brawl around ringside. Lee tries to help out but is floored with a right hand. Jim Brunzell takes a pasting and falls out of the ring, leaving a three on two situation.Spike and Blair exchange blows as the ref tries to split them up. Prichard has his Southern title and goes to hit Jeff with it. Jeff ducks and Spot feels the metal plated belt on his skull. A dropkick sends Tom over the top rope and Jeff covers the Unconcious Spot for the three count. Tom comes back in and begins to brawl with Jeff as Jerry and Muta roll around ringside. The fighting continues as the camera fades out and end credits roll
