When TNA was large, important, and mattered (maybe mid-late 2000s), was there ever talk of a TNA roster split? Maybe creating a second show to bring it about?

I don’t exactly remember the details behind the rumor, but I do remember reading about a TNA Brand Split. I suggested that the brands / shows should just be Impact and Xplosion, since they were already established properties of TNA. I thought that the World Championship Title should be the main title on Impact and the Legends / Global Championship Title should be the main title on Xplosion. Nothing ever came of it.

Oh there was a TNA roster split.... half ended up in ROH, the other half ended up in WWE.

There was talks of a roster split? First time i hear that. Anything I've ever heard of when it came to another show was bringing Xplosion to the states. A roster split would have been as dumb in TNA as when AAA tried a brand split and it only lasted a couple of tapings before quietly dissolving.

I found an old post of mine from a different board. It turns out that it was just someone asking our opinions about the possibility of a TNA brand split. Now that I had time to think about it, I’m not sure if there were ever talks within TNA about it.

Let's talk about something more interesting. I vaguely recall a post here a few years back talking about a New Japan brand split. What happened with that?

Again, if there was talks, it would have aa successful as AAAs brand split, which lasted a couple of tapings. It works in WWE cause they have the roster size to make it look believable. WCW probably also could have gone away with it with the roster size they had in the past.

I figured he was just messing with me but I wasn't real big into New Japan back then.

they hadn’t developed their original brand strongly enough to even consider this. they were grappling for tv time as it is, now you’re talking about doubling that. they were using all their talents to shine as much as they could as they attempted to emerge as a major brand and failed doing so. a second brand was absolutely never in the cards.

They never had a big enough roster to merit a brand split.

Like someone else said, I don't think they ever had a big enough roster to have a brand split but to be honest, a brand split around 2010ish time would have been pretty cool considering the amount of top stars they had at the time, they would just have needed to have a few more bodies to make up the numbers.

Oh there was a TNA roster split.... half ended up in ROH, the other half ended up in WWE. I literally laughed out loud at this! I was wondering if they even had enough people in the whole company to be able to do a roster split. Let alone enough performers.
