TNA Impact Episode 2 - November 9th, 2009
Mick Foley & Samoa Joe come down to the ring suited up, Samoa Joe with his X Division title over his shoulder. A table is set up in the middle of the ring.
Foley: Hello everyone, and welcome to Impact. Last week, I talked to Joe about an idea I had. The X Division is one of the highlights of Impact, and I want to build on that. So I’ve decided to officially give the X Division title a lightweight restriction, meaning only lightweights may compete for the X Division title. Now obviously, Joe is not a lightweight. So, me and Joe discussed this, and we have come to a decision. I will be stripping Samoa Joe of the X Division Title.
The arena erupts with boos as Joe hands Foley the title, and Foley sets the title on the table in front of him.
Foley: Now, I think we can all agree that Joe deserved that X Division title. So, this is what me and Joe came to. At Final Resolution, Samoa Joe will take on Kevin Nash for the Legends Championship.
The crowd erupt! Joe vs Nash has been made official, and the fans in the Impact Zone cannot wait!
Match #1 - Mark Andrews vs Bobby Lashley
This one was hard to watch. Lashley completely destroys Andrews, and pins him within seconds.
Andrews crawls out of the ring, when Lashley walks to him and kicks him over and over.
Nash is absolutely fuming backstage. He barges into Foley’s office.
Nash: What the hell Mick? I need a warning before you make impulsive decisions like this!
Foley: Kevin, this is what makes sense, Joe deserves this title shot, and he will be getting it. As for you, you’ve got a match coming up, so get ready.
Nash storms out.
We see a graphic promoting ODB vs Madison Rayne for next Impact. Last week Rayne called ODB a hooker, and ODB isn't pleased. Next week, they will settle their differences in the ring.
Rhino comes down to the ring, ready for his match with Chicken Farmer Cody Deaner. No one comes down afterwards. Everyone is confused. “Where the hell is Deaner?” Tenay yells from the announcers desk. Then, on the titantron, Cody Deaner appears, still at the farm.
Deaner: Rhino. Look man, I’m really sorry, I’m not going to be able to make it tonight. My chicken is pregnant, and is expecting her baby within the hour!
The screen goes black, and everyone is confused.
Borash: …. He does know chickens lay eggs right?
Rhino grabs a microphone.
Rhino: I was supposed to get a match tonight, so I want a match tonight! Someone get out here!
Silence washes over the arena for a few moments, before sirens go off. A bald, swiss man walks out.
A graphic appears saying his name is Antonio Cesaro.
Rhino: Who the hell are you?
Cesaro: My name is Antonio Cesaro. Nice to meet you Rhino.
Cesaro sticks his hand out, and Rhino, begrudgingly, shakes his hand.
Match #2 - Rhino vs Antonio Cesaro
Cesaro gets Rhino to the mat, wrenching his arms and legs. Once back to their feet, Rhino throws big strikes towards Cesaro, some of them hitting and taking a big toll. They go back and forth, before Rhino hits Cesaro with a huge clothesline. Rhino gets in the corner, getting ready for a Gore. Cesaro stands up, and Rhino starts running… but Cesaro launches Rhino into the air, and lands him with a huge uppercut on his way down, a move he likes to call the Super European Uppercut. Cesaro goes for the cover, and gets the 3 count!
Cesaro celebrates post match, and Rhino leaves the ring, less than pleased.
We cut backstage to an interview with the Knockout’s Tag Team Champions, Sarita & Taylor Wilde.
Thompson: Hello Impact Zone, my name is Lauren Thompson, and I am here with your Knockout’s Tag Team Champions, Sarita and Taylor Wilde. Ladies, last week Daffney and Alissa Flash challenged you two to a match for those tag titles at Final Resolution. You’ve had your time to consider it, what is your response?
Sarita: Well, Lauren, we have been thinking about it, and yes, we are fighting champions, but we feel that those two haven’t earned the title shot just yet. So, we went to Mr. Foley, and he said he’d be more than happy to put them in a number one contenders match tonight. So, yes, we accept your challenge, but only if you can beat Jetta and Peyton of The Wrecking Crew Tonight.
Match #3 - Kevin Nash vs Eric Young
They go back and forth to start the match, Young playing the weasley heel. Eventually, Nash gets a hold of him, and drops him with the Jackknife Powerbomb to win.
Footage from AJ Styles at a recent press conference is shown.
Reporter: If you could choose, would you face Kurt Angle or Matt Morgan?
Styles: I believe in earning what you get. Morgan has earned a title shot, so Morgan.
Reporter: So do you believe Angle hasn’t earned his shot?
Styles: The only reason Angle is getting considered for a shot is because he has name value. No further questions.
We cut to D’Angelo Dinero backstage, angry at himself for losing last week, when Abyss comes out of nowhere and drags him away into a closet.
Match #4 - The Wrecking Crew (Jetta & Peyton) vs Daffney & Alissa Flash {Knockout’s Tag Team Championships Number One Contenders Match}
Daffney & Jetta start out the match, Daffney controlling it for the most part. Jetta and Peyton end up double teaming Daffney once Jetta gets her in the corner. Daffney fends the two off after a few minutes, and tags in Flash. Flash hits the Flash Driver on Jetta to win.
Daffney: See you at Final Resolution, girlies!
Lashley is backstage, when Mark Andrews walks into the locker room, and starts changing. Lashley charges over, and tackles him. He pounds him until security stop him.
Match #5 - The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) vs Booker T & Scott Steiner (c) {TNA Tag Team Championships}
Scott Steiner & Alex Shelley start out the match. Shelley, using lots of aerial offense, takes Steiner down. He tags in Sabin, and Sabin does the same. Steiner hits a lowblow on Sabin when the ref isn’t looking, and Sabin falls down. Steiner tags in Booker, and and Booker starts hitting Sabin. Sabin tries to tag in Shelley, but Booker stops him. Sabin fights back again, and tags in Shelley. Shelley goes off, hitting Steiner off the ropes. Shelley comes off the ropes… right into a Scissors Kick from Booker! 1…. 2… kickout! Shelley tags in Savin, and he dropkicks Booker into his corner, where Steiner tags himself in. Steiner goes for Sabin, but Sabin ducks under, into a superkick from Booker! Sabin falls to the ground, and Steiner locks in the Steiner Recliner! Shelley tries to save Chris, but Booker takes him out. Sabin, screaming in pain, taps out.
Booker T and Scott Steiner grab their titles, and quickly scurry up the ramp. Sabin grabs a microphone.
Sabin: I’d like everyone to note, that during that match, Scotty hit me with a low blow, a move that is clearly illegal. So, I reckon me and Alex should get a rematch!
Booker and Steiner simply shake their heads no and walk backstage.
AJ Styles walks down and sits with Borash and Tenay at the commentary desk.
Match #6 - Matt Morgan vs Kurt Angle {TNA World Heavyweight Championship #1 Contenders Match}
Angle immediately goes for Morgan’s ankle, softening it up for the Angle Lock. Morgan swats Angle away however, and then just tosses him across the ring. From corner to corner, Morgan chops and strikes Angle, making loud sounds each time. Angle kicks Morgan straight on in the knee, making him tumble to the ground. Angle tries to lock in the Angle Lock, but to no avail. Morgan kicks him off into the corner. As Morgan stands up, Angle climbs to the top rope, and hits Morgan with a Missile Dropkick, completely knocking him over. When Morgan tumbles however, he falls into Earl Hebner, the referee.
