1/10/18
The show opens with Mr. Regal in his office, proud to announce the plans to crown the first ever NXT World Television Champion. He says that that champion will be crowned in three weeks time at an event he's dubbing NXT Takeover: Final Four. Over the next three weeks, there will be four fatal four way matches, the winners of those matches will then advance to Takeover where they will all compete in one more fatal fourway, with the winner of that match becoming the inaugural NXT World Television Champion. The first two fatal fourway matches take place tonight, and the first one is up next.
Fatal Fourway Match
Winner Advances to Takeover: Final Four
Adam Cole vs No Way Jose vs Roderick Strong vs Killian Dain
A great opening match that saw lots of near falls. Dain nearly won the match after a huge senton bomb off the middle rope on Jose. Strong would take out Dain with a running knee, only to be finished off by Cole with a Shining Wizard for the win. Cole celebrated his win as he quickly exited the ring.
Riddick Moss & Tino Sabbatelli were interviewed backstage about their future in NXT, to which they reveal that they are going to ruin the debut of War Machine in three weeks, because they're challenging them to a match in Philadelphia and going to show them that NXT isn't the place for them
Singles Match
Peyton Royce w/ Billie Kay vs Dakota Kai
Dakota got in a good offense to start, but the underhanded tactics of Royce proved to be the deciding factor of the match. After Kay had distracted the referee, Kai took her out with a dropkick off the ring apron. This brief distraction allowed Royce to attack from behind and then hit the Peyton Plex for the victory. Peyton and Billie put the boots to Dakota after the match, until Ember Moon made the save. The NXT Women's Champion got the upper hand on the Iconic Duo, sending them into retreat. Peyton vowed that this isn't over between them.
Johnny Gargano is interviewed backstage about his upcoming championship match at Takeover against the champion Andrade Almas. Gargano says that he's always been the underdog, and he knows that it's no different in this match. Gargano says he has a past history with Almas, and he has yet to defeat him, that will all change in three weeks in Phili when he walks out the new NXT World Champion.
It's announced that the Street Profits will be in action next week against Heavy Machinery and the winners will face Undisputed Era at Takeover: Final Four
Singles Match
Lars Sullivan vs Steve Cutler
Cutler tried to put up an effort, but it was no match for the monster Lars Sullivan. Sullivan would quickly out Cutler away with the Freak Accident for the win. After the match Sullivan said that he's in the fatal fourway match next week, and he will be Television Champion come Takeover.
A video hyping up the return of TM-61 is shown with the words "Returning Soon.."
Fatal Fourway Match
Winner Advances to Takeover: Final Four
Trent Seven vs Aleister Black vs Alexander Wolfe vs Oney Lorcan
A great main event with lots of action. Seven would hit his Seven Stars Lariat early in the match on Lorcan, but the pin would be broken up by Wolfe. Wolfe would then take out Seven with a huge boot to the head. Wolfe then turned right into a Black Mass from Black for the win. Aleister Black stood tall at the end of the show, until Adam Cole hit the ring.
Cole attacked Black from behind, beating him down, but Black would fight back. Black was about to kick Cole's head off until the rest of Undisputed Era hit the ring. The 3 men teamed up on Black, holding him for Cole to nail him with a Shining Wizard. Undisputed Era stood tall in the ring to end NXT.
