I would like to say I'm surprised, but, you know, it's TNA, or Impact, or GFW, or...whatever.

I posted this in another thread earlier, but it is still relevant. On the one hand, we wrestling fans need to stop doom-saying about Impact. Every time one of these stories come up We start doom saying, but then the company finds a way to survive. But at the same time... How many "raise from the dead"/"get out of jail, bankruptcy, failing" free cards does this one, sad company get? Also, after their video library, does this company have any other valuable asset? Impact currently has a not-that-great roster of people with few I could see WWE wanting to sign. Eli Drake, EC3, Rockstar Spud, maybe?

In what can only be described as the most amazing reversal of fortune ever, it would now appear that Dixie Carter is the smartest person on the planet!

Anthem was stupid for taking it on in the first place. There was an irreversible stench attached to TNA. It had virtually no assets, a tape library that wasn't worth nearly what they thought it was, and a TV deal that wasn't even remotely lucrative. The only "solution" they could then muster to alleviate these problems was to rehire the guy who couldn't elevate the company to begin with, and adopt his pipedream phantom promotion with no name value.
This really, really, really should be the final nail in the coffin, but some idiot with money will come along and bail them out again, only to wind up in this exact position a few months down the road.

Yes....lets have Vince buy this company too so we can see the utter decline in the quality of professional wrestling sink to levels even lower than the lowest. While none of this is surprising....how fast it has sunk definitely is. Vince needs competition. Its the only way to get quality product. Not sure if the WWE roster has ever been more talented and yet is sitting at historically low creative programs. In essence, Vince takes a crap in a jar and the sheep chant...."THIS IS AWESOME". Name me one person within the WWE or other promotion or any wrestling fan who actually thinks TNA/Impact/GFW is competition for the WWE. Vince and his WWE juggernaut haven't had competition in almost twenty years since WCW went into the crapper and ECW, a modest challenge at best since Vince could buy and sell the entire ECW roster with his spare change, went bankrupt. From the WWE perspective, TNA was always a distant second, distant being measured in light years, even at its height around '06 - '08. ROH is barely a blip on the radar, a great place to recruit new talent from. And NJPW is just a bunch of Japanese guys who kick each other really hard all the damn time. There have been high points in WWE programming where the lack of competition didn't prevent them from putting out an entertaining product. SmackDown last year immediately after the brand split for example. The whole idea that Vince needs competition is as stale as John Cena's good guy act. Competition is just an extra kick in the butt but it isn't a required element for WWE to give us something good to watch. The only person I know is Dixie Carter. But I dont get what you are trying to get at. I never said they were competition. I said Vince needs it. We as wrestling fans need Vince to have it. ECW was NEVER competition for Vince. You cant be competition when you are owned by Vince...or at least being funded by Vince. Its why ROH isnt WWE competition. They are a feeding ground for WWE. Smackdown had some entertaining portions. Hell, Raw after the brand split was putting on some great shows. The first show following the split is the best episode of Raw I have seen in probably a decade if not more. The need for competition for WWE isnt a stale idea. WWE needs it because they have become complacent. They are living off the brand's name. They are compensating for lower ratings, lower advertising, lower attendance, etc. by jacking the prices. Wrestling has peaks and valleys. But the valleys are generally caused by a stale product, which WWE has had for quite some time. And its a complete and utter sin when they have the most talented roster that they probably have had in the history of the company. From top to bottom...HW, CW, Women, Tag...the talent level is outstanding. The level of creativity is embarrassing. And its because Vince isnt being forced to do something about it. Right now he can compensate. But a time will come when the price tag is too high and the stock plummets and the board all begin to look at Vince to fix it. Shareholders look at one thing at the end of the day....bottom line. As long as Vince can continue to churn out profit....the board will largely ignore low attendance, ratings and advertisers. But when that bottom line goes from black to red...low attendance, ratings and advertisers will all become the reason for the company sinking. And the simplest fix....a simple kick in the ass. Complacency is the devil.

Since when has TNA/GFW been a threat to WWE? I mean i can name a time where i enjoyed their shows more than WWE, but i can't name when they've been competition at all. TNA/GFW has always been a high level indy company with TV. Who said that? I have re-read what i wrote and in no way did I even elude to TNA being a threat or acting as competition. I honestly believe the first 5 years or more of the company...Vince didnt even know what TNA was and when someone mentioned TNA....he remembered that genius tag team he created with Test and Albert.

DDP should buy TNA and use the TV to do yoga infomericals.
Jake Roberts & Scott Hall were pretty much dead and he saved them. At this point, Page is the only person I think could save TNA

that owl. I really can't tell if WWE buying TNA would be a good thing or bad. There are many pros and cons on each side of the coin.

WWE should buy TNA solely for the tape library, it'd be a sizable add on opportunity for the network once they finish uploading things like Thunder, Heat, etc... Also for the rights to Broken Universe.
I can't think of anyone on the roster though I'd want back though. Even looking at their roster page I'm not sure who is still there and who isn't. They still have Shelton Benjamin listed and he's on Smackdown, they have Lei'D Tapa listed and she was on NXT recently. I'd say sign Sabin and Dutt just to add some flare to the cruiserweight division if anyone.

Chris Sabin is currently with Alex Shelley in ROH. Not sure if they've signed any exclusive contract with the company, though.

Shouldve closed the doors 2 years ago. Atleast WCW went out with some dignity when it went out of business. TNA has reduced themselves to the butt of all pro wrestling jokes now.

I still find GFW enjoyable and plenty of others do too. It'd be shitty if they were bought out now, just being sucked in by WWE and being robbed of a good wrestling show.

So BFG ads do not mention or feature GFW logos. Its called Impact Wrestling again. Im guessing with JJ gone...Anthem may drop this BS claim to the broken gimmick, since it was JJ that was spear heading that whole thing because he was ticked that his biggest assets decided to leave because he was too busy licking Del Rio's ass. How'd that work out? You lost your biggest stars, brought in the highly over rated Del Rio that flopped and couldnt stop beating Paige long enough to do anything but recertify his role as a flop.

If Impact goes away...Taryn Terrell goes away...therefore...Impact must NOT go away! Wait a second, I thought she found Jesus and quit/retired wrestling ?? Back to the subject at hand, Anthem got so much bad press from the hardy's contract/gimmick debacle. They have no one to blame but themselves. You buy a wrestling company and want to attract new eyes to the product. When you create all that negative buzz on social media people say f*ck that owl, and don't watch your tv show.
