The tag titles thankfully have remained unchanged, but does anyone know why the TNA and X division championships changed designs so soon? They were damn good looking and blow the current ones away. Thoughts?

During the championship's history, it has had three designs. The original belt, unveiled in May 2007, had on its center plate an imprint of an eagle with its wings extended. The word "World" was placed above the eagle's head on a ribbon. The ribbon was wrapped around the bird's wings and body. Five stars were engraved on the ribbon when it passed over each of the bird's wings and the word "Champion" as it passed over the bird's talons. The words "Heavyweight Wrestling" were printed across the bird's chest. At the top of the center plate, was TNA's logo. Four smaller side plates had an imprint of a globe centered with TNA's logo at the top and bottom of each. At each end of the belt was a small plate that covered the belt snaps with TNA's logo engraved on each. At the November 8, 2010, tapings of the November 11 edition of Impact!, TNA introduced a new design for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship belt, which the champion Jeff Hardy dubbed the "Immortal Championship". The new design consisted of a purple strap with a silver center plate depicting a masked head (designed to resemble Hardy's face with face paint), the TNA logo on the forehead and blue lines along the mask. There are four irregular dodecagonal side plates on the belt, shaped like stars with rounded edges on two of the sides of these plates. The Immortal belt was replaced by the third design of the belt at the March 14, 2011, tapings of the March 17 edition of Impact!, introduced by the reigning champion at the time, Sting. The new design features seven gold plates over a black leather strap. The largest plate is the center plate with faux diamonds aligned along its multiple rounded edges, similar to that of the Big Gold Belt. Over the center plate is a large TNA Wrestling logo and below it the words "Heavyweight Champion" are engraved in silver. On each side of the center plate is a group of three smaller plates, one with a TNA logo engraved while the other two feature separate corresponding halves of a globe, on either side of the TNA logo side plate. Personally, I love the first one. I have the Jakks kids sized toy version of it. I do, however, wish there were kids sized toy versions of all of them. The original X-Division Championship Title Belt. In May 2007, the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) ended their five-year partnership with TNA, which allowed the NWA to regain control over the NWA World Heavyweight and World Tag Team Championships that TNA had controlled since June 2002. TNA then introduced a new TNA X Division Championship belt on the May 16, 2007 edition of TNA's online podcast TNA Today. Jeremy Borash and Management Director Jim Cornette, TNA's on-screen authority figure at the time, unveiled the new belt and awarded it to then-champion Chris Sabin. On July 19, 2013, TNA President Dixie Carter unveiled a new design for the championship, with blue accents to match the color scheme of the company. On June 16, 2015, TNA tweaked the title's design by recoloring its accents from blue to green. Personally, I love the second one. I have the Jakks kids sized toy version of it. I do, however, wish there were kids sized toy versions of all of them.

Thanks for the timeline! Man I wish this company knew how to not mess something up when they get it right.

The WWE doesn’t exactly know how to not mess something up when they get it right either. HAHA!!

This is true too! At least with their current design they're going for the UFC uniform look. However! All the colored straps are a little much. Hoping if anything comes from a rebrand better looking belts will be in budget since they do have TNA on them.

Don't even get me started on the UFC Uniform look for WWE. I'd rather take the green X Division belt and bland word title than four championships that are completely identical.

I just wish the X-Division title was still red than green.
I don't see how it being green makes any sense. At least it being blue to match the Impact color scheme made sense.

UFC titles are meant to be equal, no one more important than the other. The main difference being WHO is champion, not so much which division. So with the logic that they should be equal, why have one "cooler" than the other? With wrestling where card position does hold value, you could do similar designs but gold, silver, and bronze schemes for the importance since one title typically does mean more.

Kurt broke the original TNA Title. I remember a wing snapped of? Your right Didn't they have to use a replica belt on TV for a while because of that?

-- I believe the belt changes have to do with plate design licenses. Once a license agreement has expired and is not renewed, another belt is created by separate belt maker with their own design used (IE, the new license agreement issued).
My favorite was the '07 belt due to it's influence from the IWGP Heavyweight title at the time. Always preferred the NWA-TNA X-division belt over anything else that came out, after the NWA split.

All the TNA championship belts between 2007 and 2010 looked so good. Way better than WWE titles at the time. I even liked the Legends'/Global/Television/KOTM title belt and the KO Tag Team belts.
Now, they're appalling.

This kind of plays into the opinions I have when people talk about what devalues a championship. I don't care so much who held the belt and how long they had it. If the championship LOOKS like a prize, then I want it. That gives a championship prestige.

It's a combination of what you think it is and what you think it isn't.
