According to Ric Flair on his podcast, Dolph Ziggler's contract expires right after No Mercy.
I've heard rumors in the past about him signing an extension and rumors of a Varsity Club like stable being formed with Ziggler in the future. Ziggler might be deciding to give up wrestling and go full time into other ventures. I hope this isn't true but it's a great swerve. Usually this storyline is where Ziggler would finally defeat The Miz but The Miz might be going home the victor.

Wouldn't surprise me to see "Nick Ziggler" in the Impact Zone here soon. Shame he's sort of stuck in the mid card.

I hope Miz wins something like this could really get him over. Leaving WWE doesnt mean never coming back, Ziggler could be back for the Royal Rumble. Hell he could be back for Smackdown the following week. After all Miz got fired once and won a contract match in a disguise not that long after.

I stopped caring about Dolph after Survivor Series 2014, He's just an HBK rip off now.

I was such a huge fan of Dolph before but ever since they've teased pushing him and taking it away (World Title reign and Survivor Series 2014) , I haven't cared about him as much. His feud with Dean for the WWE title got me invested in him again but his most recent feud has been kind of boring. I feel so bad for Dolph as he could've been a breakout star but with all these new NXT guys he doesn't seem as special anymore. Maybe he could do what Drew Galloway, Cody Rhodes, and even Del Rio did by creating buzz for himself and potentially coming back as a hot commodity. But that's thinking optimistically.

In too much of a Ziggler fan to really comment on this.

I stopped caring about Dolph after Survivor Series 2014, He's just an HBK rip off now. It wasn't really that bad until 2015, but when he started wearing the long tights and stomping his foot before the super kick, it was evident he was trying way to hard to be HBK. For Dolph, he really should have been shot to the moon following either his World Title win in 2013, or Survivor Series 2014. The missed with both opportunities and now he's pretty irrelevant. I seriously hope Miz wins Sunday, because Miz is just about the best thing Smackdown has developed since the split. Ending his reign for a meaningless Dolph Ziggler win would not be the way to end his run.

Dolph Ziggler, like Bray Wyatt, is one of those guys that could leave the company and I wouldn't care in the least.

It would do more good than bad to the SmackDown brand if Dolph loses/Miz wins. The ship has sailed for Dolph, he is trying way too hard in the ring and his persona is just ''rehashed HBK without big victories''.

For what its worth, theres a report going around that says WWE wants Dolph to transition from an in-ring talent to a producer type role, such as Jamie Noble. Also mentions Zigglers comedy aspects, political potential, etc...
