And they wonder why nobody watches TNA anymore.

So let me get this straight, TNA goes what 3 months without a champion, has this massive tournament to crown said champion, debuts on a new network and ends up basically nullifying the tournament by putting the belt back on the guy who lost it, which created the tournament, only to have drop it 3 weeks later? Why not just do this from the get go?

You know, I heard Dixie on the PW Torch live cast talking about how successful she thought the POP debut was. She sold the new direction of the company pretty well, enough that Wade Keller even seemed to buy into it.
I even thought, well, maybe there is good on the horizon now that the tournament is in the books and they can start moving on.
Thankfully, spoilers exist and now I don't have to waste DVR space.

My initial reaction was much the same. HOWEVER, since it was a double turn....I think I get it. Obviously not seeing it, I could be wrong. But I am looking at like at BFG Matt wins the belt, has triumphant moment. Typical heel EC3 pulls crap and Matt does the "honorable" thing and reliquishes the belt. BFG tournament and EC3 and Matt are in the finals, time to settle it.
From what I have been told the Impact tapings have had EC3 getting cheered. In fact for the ONO tapings, Matt vs. EC3....EC3 was cheered and Matt was booed. So they decided to go with the double turn. EC3 beat Matt cleanly at the end of the tournament, which I thought was dumb. If you were going to put the belt on EC3, he should continue to win cowardly or with some interference. I felt the finish made Matt look weak. IN reality, looks like they planned to make Matt look weak in order to setup the heel turn.
So matt comes out of the finals, defeated. He is frustrated and his wife is angry. Matt and Reby feel that Matt has sacraficed everything and the fans were still cheering EC3. He felt betrayed. So Matt opts to get what he believes is rightfully his, since he should never have had to forfeit the belt in the first place....that was his way of doing right by TNA fans...Matt cuts the deal with Tyrus and is able to defeat EC3, grabbing the belt.
I think this will inevitably lead to Jeff being caught in the middle. Jeff will want to support his brother, but he doesnt agree with Matt's methods. Eventually Matt will do something that will cause Jeff to confront him and Matt will turn his back on his brother, screw him over, something....leading to Matt/Jeff for the TNA World Title.
I definitely rather see EC3 as a heel. But the Matt turn isnt completely a bad idea. A legit Matt/Jeff feud would be very good for TNA. TNA does better business when Jeff Hardy is featured at the top of the card. Most of what I read sounded like utter crap and I had zero interest in watching. I thought the Pop TV debut was awful, but this has potential. I'll pick back up when this episode airs to see how it goes and see where this feud is headed.

It's easy to play armchair booker and say we could do this better...
but I honestly believe that any one of us could book a better show than TNA. I legitimately can see how they're still in business.

Thats probably true. TNA's weak point was always their booking and storylines. There was a time where TNA had a roster capable of competing with WWE but good lord their pathetic booking is just the ultimate killer. Now they have a thinned out roster and their booking is still as pathetic as ever. I dont see this new POP tv deal lasting long if the they are expecting "Spike TV ratings" and they havent even hit D.A ratings yet.

Ha, I missed the part where Matt turned heel. Holy crap. Why? Wasn't Matt Hardy a mentor when Brodus was a rookie? Literally only conclusion I can pick.

It was a good match. We'll see how it translates on the tv.
