Main Event Championship Wrestling 31
LIVE : Thursday May 4, 2006 : EWA Arena (Trump Plaza, Atlantic City NJ)
9pm (8ct/6pc) : ESPN2
Footage is shown of MECW 30's ending, with Don Frye being carried out on a stretcher, as we look at exclusive footage not seen 3wks ago of Dan Severn joining Don in the ambulance truck as it takes off.
--
We go LIVE via satillite to the Atlantic City Hospital, where Don's resting and Dan is sitting at his bedside, talking softly and telling Ricky Reyes to be prepared for his absolute best, because come MECW 33: Ground Zero '06, Ricky will be in the fight (not a match), but the fight of his life!
Footage is shown of Jim Cornette & The Midnight Express of Condrey & Eaton, attacking Stan Lane at the commentator's table from MECW 30, as Rock & Roll Express member Ricky Morton came to Lane's aid.
--
MATCH #1
The Midnight Express ("Beautiful" Bobby & "Loverboy" Dennis) w/ Cornette vs. Ricky Morton & Stan Lane;
A clash between legends who all have history with one another! Lane starts out w/ Dennis, as Stan charges at Dennis in the opening moments, but Dennis lowers the top rope, Lane goes flying to the thin-coated mats on the outside, leaving Morton to battle the Midnighters alone. And at 5:38 into the contest, Lane finally regains his composure, as Ricky tags Stan in, Ricky swings Eaton into the ropes, but Eaton reverses Ricky, irishwhipping him right into a SUPERKICK BY STAN LANE!!!! - Stan's not really hurt... OMG, this was a SET-UP!!! The FULL Midnight Express, including "Sweet" Stan, begin pumbling on poor defensless Ricky Morton of the R&R Express, Cornette it livid w/ JOY, as he joins in the action, crackin' the ol tennis racket over Morton's back as one final lashing before taking his team to the back. Officials come out and assist Ricky to the back, as Stan Lane returns to ringside, laughing at the carnage and joining Tony Schivone at the commentator's table, sayin YES this IS a permanent position!
We go back to MECW 30, as Jorse Syrus and Harry Smith battle over the IN title, when the Puerto Rican superstar El Leon Apollo Gran debuted, destroying both stars!.................
FOOTAGE from EARLIER TODAY:
Syrus promos on how he wants a rematch for the IN title, when Bill GQ Maxim (formerly Billy Kidman) and his Blackball'd monster Bull Buchanan interrupt, saying Bull never got a return match when he was contesting for the IN title, as Bill suggests they have a "Winner Pursues the Title" match, while the loser must agree to drop out of contention for the title for the next 90 days. Syrus looks up and stares face to face at Bull, accepting the challenge.
--
MATCH #2
Bull Buchanan w/ Bill GQ Maxim vs. Jorse Syrus;
This match up proves to be a hard fought, intense battle between the 6'6 Bull and the 6'2 "never back down from anyone" Syrus! Maxim sticks his big nose into the match one too many times and winds up getting himself ejected from ringside to the fans' delight. And at 10:37, knowing Bull has a bad knee from recent All Japan events, Syrus locks in a Scorpion Deathlock! Forcing the big man to tap only moments later!
WINNER: Jorse Syrus
-After the contest, Syrus sees the rest of the Blackball'd faction run down to the ring, Jorse flings through the ropes and hops the guardrail, smiling up at Blackball'd as he makes his way through the crowd, definatly earning points from the many fans here at the EWA Arena!
W4R Commercial: John Walters is in... but who will the other 3 be? Find out as the 2nd spot is filled for the Winner's Square Challenge 3 match, THIS Sunday only on ESPN2!
Blackball'd still in the ring, with the World Tag titles draped over their shoulders, promo on how Low Ki abandoned his partner, D'LO BROWN (NOT B'lo Down anymore) and joined TNA under a new identity because he was too ashamed to have his real name linked with D'lo's name. (crowd is heard "Ohhhhhhhhh!" at the cheap shot "worked shoot" comment). But says it's ok, D'lo couldn't find a replacement, so they have the night off....... when DONALD TRUMP APPEARS in the skybox (LOUD pops!!!), The Don on the mic says until David Flair returns as commissioner, HE's in charge over his invested product and they WILL compete tonight. Lucky for them, it's a non-title match, HOWEVER, if the team they're up against next wins, they get a title shot at MECW 33: Ground Zero '06! Rockin' Rebel asks who's this new team?!..... The Don replies, "Well, they're not as Xtreme as I thought they were, but they can sure do alot of damage, and cause alot of . . . . HAVOC!" - out comes HAVOC (Keith Walker & Jason Bates)... Trump says he transfered their contracts from XPW to MECW as they're now on the full time roster. Blackball'd don't know what to make of it as they stand face to face w/ Havoc. The bell rings and we're on under way!
--
MATCH #3 (non title)
Blackball'd (Greg Matthews & Rockin' Rebel) (c) vs. Havoc (Jason Bates & Keith Walker);
A great display by the debuting Havoc, putting up a great challenge against the champions, until Bill Maxim returns to ringside and attempts to get involved, when Trump calls him on it and forces Maxim to join him in the skybox - this has Blackball'd distracted, and at 9:32, Jason Bates hits a nice german suplex pin w/ a bridge on Matthews, cover 1-2-3!
WINNERS: Havoc (#1 Contenders To World Tag Titles!)
-Rebel & Matthews can't believe it..... Walker & Bates raise their arms in victory, could this be a sign of what's to come at Ground Zero '06?!?!
