Tony Schivone, along w/ "Sweet" Stan Lane, welcomes us to MECW 30! Tonight we witness the contract signings between Dan Severn & Don Frye for the Global Heavyweight Championship, aswell as Jorse Syrus challenging Harry Smith for the International Championship!
MATCH #1
"Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce vs. Otis "Idol" Dolan;
Pearce on the mic says "Reckless Youth" Tom Carter didn't cut it for him, thus is why he's gone solo from here on out. Dolan mocks Pearce in the corner, which triggers Adam & Otis to begin brawling in our opening moments of this contest. A great opener tonight between 2 young superstars, as we see this one come to a close at 9:03 with Pearce hitting an STO, knocking the wind out of Otis and gaining the cover, 1-2-3!
WINNER: Adam Pearce
In the back, Global Heavyweight Champion, "The Beast" Dan Severn is shown arriving to the arena as he has that ever popular serious expression on his face as he means business.
XPW Commercial: April 20th isn't just any day . . . . April 20th is 4:20, the night we SMOKE any wrestling company away with OUR Xtreme brand of violence & malevolence! LIVE April 20th, Xtreme Pro Wrestling presents 4:20! ONLY ON PPV!
Blackball'd, Bull Buchanan, and "G.Q." Bill Maxim are shown congregating in the back locker room, as they discuss how they're slowly taking over the ranks here in MECW!
The lovely Seven is in the back, standing with Matt Stryker, about to interview him ......... when in the arena, the Midnight theme hits the PA...... out walks Jim Cornette, "Beautiful" Bobby, & "Loverboy" Dennis - The Midnight Express... making their way to the broadcast booth, Cornette begins badgering Stan Lane about he turned his back on them 6 weeks ago and cost them the World Tag title belts... Lane puts his headset down and takes the mic, saying it was a mistake on his part (he invested in a tag team that was ill-faded and says he's sorry), but Jim says Sorry doesn't Cut It... Dennis grabs the tennis racket and says "But this will" and swings at Lane's face, slapping the BA-JESUS out of "Sweet" Stan! The 2 Express members put the boots to Lane - Tony shouts "WHERE'S STEVE KERN WHEN YOU NEED HIM?! Oh right, he's bent over kissing McMahon's ass"... Just then, from the back runs RICKY MORTON, chasing off the Midnight Express as he checks in to see if Lane's alright.
Coming back, we finally catch up w/ Seven in the back, interviewing Matt Stryker - Stryker talks about his near victory over Severn last month, but was a good wake up call to everybody just how talented he (Matt) is.... when Keiji Sakoda interrupts and says if anyone is under-utilized here in MECW, it's him (Keiji), as he led the InvASIAN & gave MECW a run for their money .... when Kazarian Bandares walks in and says the InvASIAN was a joke, what w/ Tanaka & Nosawa leaving for XPW, Kenzo Suzuki & Hiroko heading back to Japan, and Jimmy Yang jumping ship to MLPW... shows how well a leader Keiji really is... Matt tells them both to shut up as it's his interview time, but the 3 get nose to nose to nose w/ one another .... when Commissioner David Flair breaks it up and says tonight just before the Main Event IN title match, Matt Stryker will face Keiji Sakoda who will also face Kazarian Bandares in a Triple Threat, and the winner of the contest will have MECW 31 off and be paid $10,000! ... the 3 agree to it as they each walk off.
MATCH #2
Rockin' Rebel w/ Bill Maxim & Greg Matthews vs. B'lo Down w/ Low Ki;
Your standard American style match between Rebel & B'lo, basic spots with headlocks, bodyslams, bulldogs, clotheslines, the whole American works! And at 9:29 into the contest, Maxim interjects himself into the contest, but Low Ki catches "Mr. Torrie Wilson" and delivers kick after kick, until executing his patent shining wizard style stiff kick, but meanwhile in the ring, Matthews charges at B'lo, who ducks, Matthews spears down his own partner Rebel, B'lo tosses Matthews out before climbing to the top and hitting a Frog Splash! cover as the ref turns around, 1-2-3!
WINNER: B'lo Down
-Lo'Down celebrate the win, but it's short lived as "The Enforcer" Bull Buchanan runs from behind and blindsides the #1 Contenders to the World Tag titles. Taking his nightstick and bashing it over the backs of B'lo & Low Ki until officials break up the scuffle, sending the entire Blackball'd faction to the back and await Matthews to face Low Ki later on tonight.
MATCH #3 Triple Threat
Keiji Sakoda vs. Matt Stryker vs. Kazarian Bandares;
WOW, what a hell of a contest between these three! Keiji brings the Japanese stiff style, Stryker incorporates the mat based offense, and Kazarian executes the high risk abilities only a daredevil like Bandares can take! Easily a Match of The Year canidate, but only 1 can be victorious, and at the 18:38 mark with just 2:22 left in the contest, Sakoda takes out Stryker w/ his patented Superkick to the throat, leaving Matt coughing and choking, rolling to the outside... Kazarian almost falls victom himself to the kick, but ducks the kick and scooping Keiji's legs out from underneith him and locking him into the Mariachi (aka Edge-ecution "sharpshooter")... Keiji tries fighting it and almost making it to the ropes, but Kazarian pulls him back to the center of the ring - Keiji taps just as the bell rings at the sametime! . . . . . . the referee confabs w/ ring announcer David Penzer.
DECISION: No Contest Due To Time Limit Expiration (20:00)
-A 2nd ref comes down to the ring to dispute the decision, and an argument ensues between the 2 refs . . . Commissioner David Flair appears in the EWA Arena and states that NOONE gets the $10,000 and NOONE has MECW 31 off. In fact, we're having a rematch between the 3 at the end of MECW 31 and it will be the final match of the night to ensure a winner as there will be No Time Limit!. The fans cheer at the decision, Kazarian looks disappointed as he thought he should've won.
