HEBTHEEAGLE's return to reviews. Brought to you by (Sponsor censored, due to conflict of interests)
*What I've found, in this town...it's a Harping for Breakdown (end horrible singing)
*Again, as a WCWA point of interest, it was me that came up with both the title and the theme song for this show, proving that even when I don't book (XWF if interested), I'm awesome...
*Love the opening with Shane, and in what I believe is a WCWA first, Shane doesn't drop an f-bomb in the opening...see, he can be subtle. Totally
ing subtle!
*Daniels vs. Williams: First of all, excellent match. Both men can go in the ring, and both have very marketable looks, so I approve. Second, the Curry Man references made me LMAO. Third, and the point of disagree, would be Williams going over the Jr. Heavyweight champion clean...especially when you consider that according to the plan, you have Messiah (a Harry suggested hire
) not doing anything in the evening. If Petey doesn't win the BOTB tournament, it'd better put him in line for a Jr. Heavyweight title match should Daniels retain @ Results May Vary. Match rating: **1/2 (Short...that's what prevents a higher number. Well done in the planning, but too short to mean much)
*I have to disagree with Allison...you don't need liquor for Maria...even as a woman. And that's coming from the owner of the biggest porn fed since XPW here. Speaking of, nice of Trent to work in a plug for us. THANKS TRENT! PS: The Iron Sheik reference isn't going to get caught by many, but it's fantastic!
*Tirade Shane is the best...be it Flair, Hart, or as this case is...Marty Jannetty (Btw, love the Jannetty gimmick. He's like Al Snow, except drunk and high on smack. Actually, he's not unlike Snow in that regard!) Get his ass, Shane!
*Good stuff with Maria and Kurt...and Kurt's angry heel, while I like him better as a goofy one, always makes for an interesting promo.
*((JS: That’ll screw up some vocal cords. SD: What does it matter? RVD never gets promo time anyways.)) BWAHAHAHAHAHA! Awesome...Flippidy flips? He's facing Van Dam, not Jack Evans pal...((JS: You’re one to preach about being straight edge...SD: Hey, I can make fun of the Spirit Squad. I rip on Skipper all the time!!)) Even I don't get that reference...Nice ending to the match, but I have to question the logic of Acid going over there, as Van Dam is a much bigger name, but I guess Acid fits the WCWA match...Match rating: ***1/2 (Very well done, and the minimal amount of intereference was a good choice. There'd should be more with these guys, as they worked well together, as the styles mesh well.
*You know, the King Kong, Godzilla, whatever is a crock...Super Dragon is an American! He's always wrestled in North America! I know, continuity's a bitch, but it's a neccesary evil.
*Joe/Skipper-((JS: Samoa Joe is a machine. I am seriously doubting if he is even human!)) He is-in fact, he's several rolled into one!...the obvious question: would anyone willing sign to face Joe?...((SD: And there’s the original card carrying member of the Spirit Squad)) Four people will get that reference, and BWAHAHAHAHAHA!...I won't repeat the list of people who say "Lita spits", but it's funny nontheless!...and to no-one's surprise-Joe chokes a bitch out. Go figure!...Stars: * (And only that because of the stuff with Styles-Douglas on commentary. Made it more interesting)
*Cornette as a manager is awesome. He should slap someone...and harder then that kid in OVW!
*The whole goth thing in wrestling is played. We'll see your take on it, but I have to say I'm burned out by it.
*Well, Shane..."Flippy" will just find his own way to break his neck. I'm sure.
*Naturals vs. Evans/Hart...you showed me the set with Joey and Shane about Teddy's last name, and it's still funny...that would be the subway sandwich. Speaking of, these jelly beans are pretty good...wait, he wants to be known for wrestling, so he's bashing people with chairs? It's the "Steve Corino" defense all over again! Match rating: X (due to nature of finish, and length)
*Hey Nick...do us all a favor...rent a DVD, and shut up. You're a hardcore icon, but a pure wrestler? Not in this lifetime, pal.
*You've just managed to single-handedly kill my appetite for McDonald's...pretty good from Spanky, and his work in your fed cracks me up, because I could actually see him doing this...you know, Spanky quoting Hogan against Angle may not be wise. Hogan and Angle's only main high profile match against each other was KOTR 2002, and Angle won. Bad omen perhaps?
*Nice video...considering you've used it before!
*((JS: This is exactly what WCWA is all about. Putting on a high profile main event with such high stakes on FREE TELEVISON. You’d never see Vinnie Mac toss something like this on free TV. You’d have to pay upwards of forty bucks to see this match, and sit through two hours of s(bleep). SD: And you call me bitter..)) Not true. Edge/Flair in the TLC match eariler this year...or Angle-Undertaker from SD this past week!
*Spanky vs. Kurt Angle...I will not comment on the commentary for this match, considering I wrote the vast majority of it. (OK, I'll speak on the one I didn't write...)...you know, the fall from the apron by Spanky would be a JAPW "Ouch file"...now that I consider it, Joey's probably right. It probably was Pepsi...I'm sure TNA appreciates the plug...nice comeback by Styles in regards to Shane calling Spanky a pinball...I don't recall the Demolition in WCWA, but if Joey says it happened, he'd know...Shane's tirades about Flair still amuse me...the Angle Slam of the ladder makes for a hell of a visual...HEY! I resent the Lizzy remark! That poor ref doesn't deserve to be treated like this!...well, I guess that's Spanky's version of intelligence! And there's the win for the Spankyster....Match rating: ****1/2...due to the screwy ending, I can't go five, but it was another in the long line of good-great Angle-Spanky clashes.
*That's a damn good question...why Kurt? What could Christian, er Reso...have against Angle? Other then pinning him @ KOTR 2001, I can't think of any physical altercation between them.
Overall: Good stuff, and one long ass review. Seriously, the length of reviews usual reflect the quality of the show, and this one is definitely worth giving a read if you haven't. J's come a long way in his booking, and that's something that anyone can stride for. 4 and 1/2
's out of 5. Good work.
