Coach: We are live in your living room right now as we welcome you to Monday Night Raw. I'm the Coach along with Tazz at ringside. Right now though Chris Jericho is standing by with the Highlight Reel.
Y2J: Welcome to the hottest show in town. This is the Highlight Reel and as always I am your most excellent host Chris Jericho. Now before we get to my guest tonight, I have a message for the new WWE Tag Team Champions La Resistance. Tonight boys you are going into the history books as one of the shortest reigning Tag Team title holders of all time. The reason being that myself and Chris Benoit are going to beat you right in this very ring.
Coach: That's going to be a huge match here tonight Tazz.
Y2J: Now then let's get to my guest. He is the man who has been on a role since getting a makeover and he may very well need another after Summer Slam when he competes in a falls count anywhere match against Cactus Jack. Please welcome accompanied by the Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase, John Bradshaw Layfield!
Coach: Two weeks ago here on Raw we found that JBL would be taking on Mick Foley or Cactus Jack rather in a falls count anywhere match at Summer Slam.
Tazz: I can't wait to see that go down in Phoenix.
Y2J: JBL despite your outer exterior now wearing custom made suits and riding around in limousines, you are going to have to dig down deep back to that APA brawling style if you want to contend with the likes of Cactus Jack at Summer Slam.
JBL: Chris, you are understandably very naive when it comes to understanding how someone with some class handles his business. I will never return to living a life of bar fights and wearing jeans and cut off t-shirts when I can taste fine wine and wear tailor made suits. You see I don't have to sink down to Cactus Jack's level, I just have to use what Cactus himself doesn't have and that my friend is intelligence. Cactus is all about putting his body and life at risk to get the job done. All I have to do is outsmart the man and that won't be very hard to do. So come Summer Slam, falls may count anywhere, but the only fall that matters is the one where I have Jack covered for the one, two, three.
Y2J: Well you seem a little over confident if you ask me and speaking of not going back to your APA days, that brings me to this very special part of the Highlight Reel that I was anticipating. Ladies and gentlemen witness the very special reunion of the APA. Please welcome Faarooq!
Tazz: You've got to be kidding me.
Faarooq makes his way down to the ring. He gets in the ring and shakes hands with JBL.
JBL: You see Chris if you were trying to stir up trouble, you wasted your time, because there is no bad blood between the two of us. We have been friends for a long time and just because I live in a different world now, doesn't mean I can't be friends with someone in a different tax bracket.
Faarooq's jovial mood changes upon hearing the words of JBL.
JBL: But that is going to change, because Ted DiBiase here has an offer to make.
Ted: At this time, Faarooq it would be my pleasure to offer you a position in the Million Dollar Corporation.
Y2J: Ted DiBiase what kind of position is it that you are offering?
Ted: Well it entails a little bit of this and a little bit of that. So how about it Faarooq?
Faarooq: I can't handle a desk job and wearing a suit and tie is not really my style.
JBL: Don't worry you don't have to do any of that.
Ted: Just so we can see if your qualified though we have to give you one test.
Ted hands some polish and a towel to Faarooq.
Y2J: Are you guys trying to be funny?
Ted: The old saying goes if the shoe fits then wear it, but in this case if the shoe gets polished then you've got the job. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Faarooq: Damn! I think you can take this job and shove it straight up...
JBL: Hold on now. I went to a lot of trouble to get Mr. DiBiase to put you on his payroll and this is the thanks I get. Now get down on your knees and shine his shoes.
Faarooq gets into Bradshaw's face. DiBiase nails him from behind. Faarooq turns around and slugs DiBiase. Faarooq then gets nailed with a boot to the face by JBL.
Tazz: What in the hell is going on here? I can't believe this.
JBL then hits the Clothesline from Hell on Faarooq and then leaves with DiBiase.
Coach: This is ridiculous. JBL is piece of trash.
A limousine is shown arriving. When the door opens out steps Randy Orton and Stacy Keibler.
Tazz: The WWE Champion is here for the big Summer Slam contract signing.
Coach: That's still to come tonight, plus Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit challenge La Resistance for the WWE Tag Team Championship and Hulk Hogan will be in action as well. But coming up next it's the Cruiserweight Champion Paul London. Don't go away!
Commercial Break.
WWE Rewind: Footage shows Paul London winning the Cruiserweight Title from Jamie Noble 3 weeks ago.
Trish Stratus goes into Eric Bischoff's office.
Eric: Trish Stratus come on in. It's so good to see you.
Trish: Eric, as nice as it is to manage the WWE Tag Team Champions, I don't think that is the best use of my talent here on Raw. In fact I was hoping you could see to it that there was a way for someone like me to wear my very own Championship.
Eric: Well Trish quite frankly I don't see how you are going to get a shot at any of the available titles here in the WWE.
Trish: That is why I came to you. I would be more than happy to make your life a little bit more pleasurable if you would see to allowing me an opportunity.
Eric: You know something Trish, this is what I am going to do. I think it's time to get some hot, competitive, female Superstars back into the ring and I am just the man to make that happen. On August 26 right here on Raw during the special Draft show we are going to have the first ever WWE Diva's invitational Royal Rumble match to re-instate the Women’s' Championship and you Trish have earned a spot. In fact I am going to put a call out immediately to the last person to hold the gold back in 2001, Tori and invite her to "defend" the belt.
Trish: I knew you were a smart man Eric. I have to go now and get La Resistance ready for...
Eric: Uh Trish, hold on. I think you owe me a little something in return, so how about you let Conway and Dupree fend for themselves. Hey you (talking to the camera man), kindly get out or you will be looking for a new place to work.
Coach: Wow Tazz, the Women's Title is being re-instated here on Raw and well our boss Mr. Bischoff may be getting some Stratisfaction for his efforts.
Tazz: It will be great to have a much need injection of a female presence here on Raw.
NON-TITLE MATCH
PAUL LONDON VS.
---------------------------------------
The Cruiserweight Champion Paul London makes his way to the ring.
Coach: The former student of Shawn Michaels, from Austin, Texas Paul London made his debut on Raw only three weeks ago and in his very first match became the Cruiserweight Champion defeating Jamie Noble. Now London is headed to defend the gold at Summer Slam in the Cruiserweight Open Invitational and from what I've been told his opponent here tonight will be competing in that match as well.
Tazz: Well let's find out who it's going to be.
Out comes Scotty Too Hottie.
Tazz: Look out Coach, Scotty is back!
London and Scotty lock up. London applies the headlock. Scott sends him for the ride and knocks him down to the mat. Scotty goes to the ropes. London leap frogs over and goes for a hip lock, but Scotty blocks it. Scotty sends London in and nails him with an elbow. Scotty then hits the hip lock and slams London down. Scotty takes him over with an arm drag.
Coach: Scotty is looking very good here against Paul London. These two will be joined by the likes of Tajiri, the Hurricane, Ultimo Dragon, Akio, Brian Christopher, Jamie Noble, and others in that Cruiserweight Open Invitational at Summer Slam.
Scott sends London, but he reverses him into the corner and connects with a heel kick. London delivers a neck breaker and does a somersault into a leg drop for a near fall.
Tazz: You have to be impressed with London. Here is a guy who debuted here three weeks ago and his first night in became Cruiserweight Champion. You can give Shawn Michaels all the credit in the world if you want to for training him, but this guy has the goods.
London delivers forearm shots to Scotty and then goes for a bulldog, but Scotty lifts London up. London flips back over and nails Scotty with a heel kick to the back. London hooks an Oklahoma roll and gets a near fall. London delivers a suplex and goes up to the top rope. London goes for a moonsault, but Scotty rolls out of the way.
Coach: Oh that was close. If he would have hit that, then it would be over, but Scotty managed to move at the last second.
Jamie Noble is shown watching the match from a monitor in back. London gets elbowed by Scotty. Scotty goes to the ropes, but is met by a dropsault. London makes the cover, but Scotty gets a shoulder up.
Tazz: Paul London again hits that beautiful maneuver and I have to say I've never in my life seen Shawn Michaels do one of those.
Coach: London appears to be a fighting champion no doubt, but the former Champ Jamie Noble is looking on as he prepares to try and win the gold back at Summer Slam.
London pulls Scotty off the mat. Scotty kicks London and plants him with a DDT. Scotty punches London and rams him into the turnbuckle. He sends him for the ride and nails him with a clothesline. Scotty delivers another. Scotty sends London in and connects with a back drop and goes for a power bomb, but London goes all the way over into a sunset flip and gets a two count. London charges at Scotty, but he catches him with a hot shot and then plants him face first into the canvas.
Tazz: Uh oh I think we know what this means.
Scotty does the Worm and follows with the chop to the face and has the cover, but London kicks out. London goes for a kick, but Scotty catches his foot. London flips back over and then nails Scotty with an enzugiri. London goes up top. He connects with the 450 splash and hooks the leg for the three count.
Coach: Wow was that impressive. Paul London comes out on top once again with a huge win over the veteran Scotty Too Hottie. London heads into Summer Slam with the Cruiserweight Title around his waist, but he'll have Scotty, Jamie Noble, and many others looking to take the belt from him in Phoenix.
Scott Steiner and Eugene are shown warming up backstage.
Matt Hardy is in Eric Bischoff's office.
Eric: Matt, I just got off the phone with Edge and he seems to be caught in traffic right now. Just giving you a head's up since your match is coming up.
Hardy: Bischoff frankly I don't trust you and as of late I find it hard to trust Edge. So he can show up or not show up, but I will take that gauntlet match head on because Matt Hardy will...not...die!
Coach: That huge gauntlet match is still to come up, but up next Scott Steiner and the in-ring debut of Eugene as they team up against the Basham Brothers. Don't go away!
A Summer Slam promo airs.
"Bret Hart has created a legend. Randy Orton has killed legends. In the Arizona desert, two men collide for one prize. Only man can leave with it. Hulk Hogan has destroyed men much larger than he. Brock Lesnar has destroyed Hulk Hogan. Two men collide, but only one can survive. Bret Hart challenges Randy Orton for the WWE Championship and Hulk Hogan takes on Brock Lesnar. WWE Raw and Smackdown present Summer Slam. Live Sunday August 25 only on pay per view!"
Coach: Fans, during the commercial break the Rabid Wolverine Chris Benoit was found laid out in the backstage area. He was immediately put in an ambulance and is currently on his way to a medical facility.
Tazz: Yeah and so far no one has come forward as either a witness to what happened or to admit what they have done, but speculation has run rampant that La Resistance would have had something to do with it.
Coach: We will keep you updated as this situation unfolds. Right now though let's take a look back to what happened when Scott Steiner took on Doug Basham several weeks ago.
Footage shows the debut of Danny Basham who switched out with Doug in order to beat Steiner. No one even knew another Basham existed up until that point. Eugene, a WWE fan became involved and led to Steiner training him for his in-ring debut.
BASHAM BROTHERS VS. SCOTT STEINER & EUGENE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Bashams attack Steiner and toss him out to the floor. The Bashams send Eugene for the ride. He comes back with a crossbody, but is caught and slammed. Steiner is back in and he nails both Bashams with a double clothesline. Steiner dumps Doug to the outside. Eugene nails Danny and sends him in. Eugene lowers his head and is caught by a boot. Danny plants Eugene face first into the canvas.
Coach: This is our first time to see both Eugene and Danny Basham inside the ring. We know what Steiner can do and Doug Basham has certainly proven himself in recent weeks.
Danny tags Doug in. Doug comes in off the top with a sledge across Eugene. He stomps on Eugene and then snapmares him over. Doug plants an elbow and follows it up with a back breaker for a near fall.
Tazz: Eugene needs to get over and tags in Big Poppa Pump. I'm afraid Eugene may be in over his head here.
Doug whips Eugene hard into the corner. Doug charges in, but Eugene moves and scoops up Doug into an airplane spin. He spins him around and then follows with a Samoan drop.
Coach: Nicely done.
Doug makes it over to his brother Danny and tags him in. Eugene heads for Steiner, but Danny stops him. Danny delivers a back suplex. Danny chops Eugene and sends him in for a clothesline. Danny Basham delivers a gutbuster and tags Doug back in.
Tazz: You've got to give it up to these Bashams as they are controlling the pace of this match and tagging in and out and keeping Steiner from getting in.
Danny sends Eugene for the ride and takes him down with a drop toe hold. Doug then dropkicks Eugene in the face.
Coach: Oh my that had to hurt.
Tazz: Luckily for Eugene that won't affect his facial features too much. It might actually improve em.
Doug Basham makes the cover on Eugene, but Steiner comes in for the save. Doug sends Eugene into the corner. Eugene gets a knee up and then plants his head into the mid section. Eugene delivers several head-butts.
Tazz: Shades of the Junkyard Dog.
Eugene then scoops up Doug and slams him down. Eugene makes the cover, but Danny comes in. He drops down and nails Doug as Eugene moves. Eugene leaps over into his corner and tags in Steiner.
