A video package of last week's happenings is shown.
Coach: Welcome once again to Monday Night Raw. I'm Jonathan Coachman along with Tazz here at ringside. Tonight Tag Team gold is up for grabs as the New Age Outlaws put their belts on the line against La Resistance. This is a return match from last week.
Tazz: Speaking of tag team action Coach, one of the greatest tag teams of all team are together again here tonight in the form of Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart and Bret "Hit Man" Hart, the Hart Foundation. They will do battle with Paul Heyman's Extremists.
Coach: We have plenty of action to get to kicking it off with Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho one-on-one.
A limousine arrives. Out steps Brock Lesnar, JBL, and Ted DiBiase.
Tazz: There's a very powerful Million Dollar Corporation right there and JBL meets my friend Tommy Dreamer here tonight. Right now though as ordered by Eric Bischoff last week, it's Benoit vs. Jericho. This should be a classic.
CHRIS JERICHO VS. CHRIS BENOIT
---------------------------------------------------------
Prior to the bell, Eric Bischoff comes out.
Bischoff: I just wanted to remind the two of you that you will be escorted out of the building at the conclusion of this match as to make sure you don't disturb the tag team title match here tonight. Now ring the bell.
Jericho and Benoit lock up. Jericho takes Benoit over with an arm drag, but Benoit comes back with one of his own. Benoit backs Jericho into a corner. He chops Jericho. Jericho fires back. Jericho sends Benoit for the ride, but he reverses him. Jericho comes back with a side roll into an attempt at the Walls of Jericho, but Benoit pulls him over with a small package for a near fall. Jericho then nails Benoit with an elbow.
Coach: This is a competitive battle between these two Canadian Superstars. Eric Bischoff seems to be enjoying himself as well.
Tazz: He should be. The fans are enjoying this kind of athletic prowess.
Jericho nails Benoit with several forearm shots. He sends him in, but Benoit reverses him. Jericho comes back knocking Benoit down. Jericho hits the ropes. Benoit drops down and then goes for a hiplock, but Jericho blocks it and takes Benoit over. Benoit kicks up and takes Jericho down with a quick leg trip and goes for the Sharp Shooter.
Tazz: Look it how fast Chris Benoit can turn the tide. That is why he is a two-time former WWE Champion.
Jericho kicks Benoit off. Jericho chops Benoit. Benoit chops Jericho. Benoit kicks Jericho and delivers a snap suplex for a near fall.
Coach: Great suplex patterned after Benoit's idol the Dynamite Kid.
Benoit pounds on Jericho. He sends him in. Jericho comes back with a flying forearm. Jericho delivers a back suplex and drops a series of elbows. Jericho goes up to the middle rope and drops an elbow, only Benoit moves. Benoit elbows Jericho and then knees him. Benoit pounds on Jericho and goes for a German suplex, but Jericho hooks the rope. Benoit pounds on Jericho's back and this time hits the German. Benoit delivers a second one.
Tazz: Benoit is going for the trifecta here.
Benoit tries for a third German, but Jericho rolls through and then nails Benoit with a heel kick. Jericho makes the cover, but Benoit kicks out. Jericho pounds on Benoit and rams him into the turnbuckle. Jericho lifts Benoit up top. Jericho climbs up and goes for a superplex, but Benoit pushes Jericho down. Benoit goes for diving head-butt, only Jericho moves. Jericho hits the Lionsault and has the cover, but only gets a two count.
Tazz: I can't believe this match. What a way to kick off Raw huh Coach.
Coach: You won't find this kind of action anywhere, but Monday Nights on Raw.
Jericho hooks Benoit for a power bomb and turns it into a back breaker. Jericho goes for the Walls, but Benoit blocks it. Jericho sling shots Benoit into the corner. He goes for the face plant, but Benoit ducks and takes Jericho down for the Crossface. Jericho quickly gets his feet on the ropes. Benoit chops Jericho. He lifts him up on top. Benoit climbs and goes for a superplex, but Jericho knocks him down. Jericho then delivers a missile dropkick. Jericho gets a near fall.
Tazz: Neither man could get that superplex on the other. These two know each other so well.
Jericho delivers a neck breaker. Jericho goes for a power bomb, but Benoit blocks it and trips Jericho and steps into the Sharp Shooter. Jericho heads for the ropes. Benoit grabs his legs and pulls him into the middle of the ring, but Jericho rolls up Benoit for a near fall. Both men exchange chops. Benoit head-butts Jericho and then scoops him up and slams him down. Benoit goes to the top rope. He connects with the diving head-butt. Benoit makes the cover, but only gets two. Benoit connects with a snap suplex. Eric Bischoff approaches the ring and starts talking to the referee.
Tazz: What's Bischoff doing?
Rob Conway and Rene Dupree make their way to the ring. Conway tosses a chair into the ring. Benoit nails Dupree with a baseball slide. Jericho picks up the chair. Benoit looks at Jericho and looks suspicious. Dupree gets another chair and hits the ring and cracks Benoit with it. Dupree rolls out and the referee sees Jericho holding a chair and calls for the bell. The referee disqualifies Jericho. La Resistance look on laughing.
Coach: I can't believe this. Jericho gets blamed for using a chair despite the fact that the referee never saw it. Bischoff and La Resistance certainly are paying Benoit and Jericho back for their interference in last week's tag title match.
Tazz: Speaking of tag team action Coach, next week here on Raw we are going to see Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner team with Eugene to take on Doug and Danny Basham. Right now we have a look at how the training of Eugene by Steiner is going.
A video package shows Steiner and Eugene's work-out getting ready for next week.
Edge walks into the locker-room and finds Val Venis
Val: Hey Edge.
Edge: Forget the chit chat Val. I have a problem and you're right in the thick of it. (Edge shuts the door in front of the camera man).
Coach: Edge has a problem with Val Venis, but coming up next who is going to have a problem with Brock Lesnar in his latest open challenge? Who will step up to the plate? Find out next!
Commercial Break.
A vignette shows a muscular man posing in in a museum among sculptures. A crowd stands in awe.
"The Masterpiece" is coming!
Coach: Welcome back to Raw. Still to come here tonight, the Hart Foundation in action to face the Extremists. Also the Tag Team Titles are up for grabs and Tommy Dreamer takes on JBL. Right now however Brock Lesnar is ready for action.
BROCK LESNAR VS.
----------------------------------------
Lesnar comes out accompanied by Ted DiBiase. DiBiase grabs the microphone.
DiBiase: Time and again I have put up a sizeable amount of money for anyone who wants to step up to the plate against Brock Lesnar. Time and again all have failed. Tonight I am offering $5,000 to anyone who can beat my man. So if we have any takers come on down.
Coach: Maybe you should go for that cash Tazz.
Tazz: I think I'll stick to sitting behind this desk for right now thanks.
"Don't go messin with a country boy..." Very familiar music blares over the speaker as Hillbilly Jim comes.
Tazz: Oh my I can't believe it.
Coach: It's legendary WWE Superstar Hillbilly Jim. Of course it has been well documented over the years the friendship between Hillbilly Jim and Hulk Hogan. Hogan of course has had one heck of a rivalry going with Brock Lesnar over the course of the past six months or so.
Hillbilly Jim locks up with Lesnar. Lesnar pushes Jim into the corner. Lesnar comes at Jim, but he moves and punches away. Hillbilly rams Lesnar into the turnbuckle. Jim sends him in, but Lesnar reverses it. Jim comes off the ropes and the two collide. Lesnar hits the ropes again and Jim stands shoulder to shoulder with him again. Jim goes to the ropes this time, but Lesnar nails him with a clothesline.
