Following the intro, we cut to the inside of the arena where members of the WFWF roster are all sitting around tables. Trace Demon, Joe Bishop, Jason Anders, and Kyle Matthews all sit at their own table, the KoKaine Konspiracy are at their own table. Dave Demento is shown sitting alongside the likes of Daniel Kirkbride and Shapiro with Penny Shannon notably missing the awards show following the gruesome attack from Phillip Schneider at The Clash.
Alecia Matthews: Welcome ladies and gentleman to the 2014 WFWF awards!
Cameron Stone: That's right! We are here to present awards to those who earned them during the year. Voting has been open for the past few weeks, letting you, the WFWF fans, to vote for who should be crowned the winners.
Alecia Matthews: I've been told voting was extremely close, nobody except for the person who printed the envelopes you'll see later knows who the winners are.
Cameron Stone: Tonight, we find out who the ultimate Face of the Year was, the Heel of the Year, the Match of the Year, among more awards.
Alecia Matthews: Don't forget our headliner and the award everybody is gunning to win... WFWF Superstar of the Year.
The house band off the side of the stage start playing a very crapty version of 'This is Extreme' by Harry Slash & The Slashtones. From out of the curtain comes Randel Benjamin in a cheap suit with a smile on his face.
Randel Benjamin: I would like to welcome you all to tonight's festivities. This is a unique show filled with fun as we take a look back at the past year. As your MC, I have to say 2014 was a very unique year. To kick things off, let's go into high gear with the Breakthrough of the Year award. Please welcome to the stage, the presenters for the Breakthrough of the Year award... Lila Sleater!
Sleater comes out from behind the curtain smiling as she waves to the crowd of wrestlers, all four collective members of The Final Revolution rolling their eyes in unison. The crapty band plays a generic song, and by generic we mean generic, as she cuts them off.
Lila Sleater: Every year, the men and women of the WFWF roster all strive to be the best. There are some of them who come out of their shells and show the world that they have what it takes to make an impact. Some of them fight for good, and some of them are not the nicest superstars. However, they are the breakout superstars of the year. Ladies and gentleman, the nominees for WFWF Breakout Star of the Year are...
Former WFWF Tag Team champion, and one half of Hollywood Unhinged... Jayson Garrett!
Former WFWF World champion... Dex!
Current WFWF International champion, and proud member of The Final Revolution... Joe Bishop!
Current WFWF Tag Team champion, and member of the KoKaine Konspiracy... Samael Ahriman!
Rookie sensation, and winner of the Golden Opportunity match at The Clash... Daniel Kirkbride!
Current WFWF National champion... Ante Whitner!
Lila Sleater: And the winner is... Joe Bishop.
Rising to his feet from his table, Joe Bishop walks up the stairs onto the stage as Lila reluctantly hands him the award.
Joe Bishop: This award, in many respects, means an awful lot to me. To be considered for any award in a promotion that has been home to the people I grew up watching, the icons of professional wrestling, is an amazing feeling. And receiving recognition for the hours I have put into trying to make sure this revolution is successful, is of course very pleasing.
However, it is soured to some extent by a few things.
Firstly, I'm well aware that there is a lot more work to do and that I'm nowhere near where I want to be right now. Both on a personal level, and for The Final Revolution as a group, further improvements have to take place. Breakthrough of the Year, while a nice accomplishment to have, is not enough. I want to be the Superstar of the Year, I want to be the Face of the Year as recognition of the work I am doing for the WFWF fans, I want to be the World Champion. This is nice, but it's not enough.
Not only that, but it's soured to some extent, by the lack of competition in Lila Sleater's WFWF. The fact that I, a man Lila Sleater has done everything she can to keep down, have won this award, speaks volumes about what Lila Sleater is doing to this promotion. She is taking men like Dex, like Dave Demento, like Garret and Landon, pegging them as the next big things, giving them all the breaks that I deserve and not only are they not good enough, but they're regressing under her leadership.
Of course I'm pleased to win this award, and I do like to think I deserve it. I have to thank Trace Demon, Jason Anders and Kyle Matthews for the support they have given me over the last year.
But there are much bigger strides I need to take, to get where I want to be. And an awful lot of work needs to be done to make sure that the young stars this company has, start moving forward. Start progressing. The future of the WFWF depends on the young stars in this promotion making clear progress, stepping up to the mark and proving that they are capable of taking that next step and if you ask me, over the course of the past year, only two have. Myself, and Kyle Matthews. That is not good enough. That is not enough for a promotion like the WFWF. And anybody, in that locker room, who is willing to accept it, who is willing to accept that the likes of Phillip Schneider, Drakz and Trace Demon sit at the top of the WFWF and no one can break into that group, doesn't belong in this company. Any talent in that roster who is satisfied with where they are, other than Drakz, doesn't deserve the right to step into that ring. But unfortunately, that's the culture that Lila Sleater has created. She has created a WFWF where people are happy to plod along, collect their pay checks, if they're her favourites they get the occasional chance to be beaten up by Drakz and then drop back down.
It's not good enough, it has to change. If that change is going to take place, then The Final Revolution have to take the WFWF back and make sure people live up to their potential, we have to make sure that people break into those top spots, upset the established guard. And then keep building on it.
Winning the Breakthrough of the Year award is nice enough, and I'm delighted to accept this award, but it'll count for nothing if I don't build on it and push forward into one of those top spots, it'll mean nothing if we fail, and next year there's no one who's made a breakthrough, which is what will happen if the WFWF stays on its current path. If Lila Sleater is allowed to continue destroying this sport.
I wish this award meant more, I wish it was as huge an accomplishment as it has been in the past. And we intend to make sure that in the future it is, to restore the prestige of awards like this, and of the WFWF as a whole, as soon as humanly possible. I urge any wrestler here tonight, who wants to make similar steps forward, who wants to rebuild the WFWF, to join The Final Revolution. That is the only way you can play apart in moving this promotion forward. That is the only way we, as a group of people, can get where we want to be.
Bishop finishes his speech by raising the award into the air with a grin, as he stares directly in Dave Demento's area. Tension fills the air between both rivals as Bishop walks off the stage, Randel Benjamin now taking the spot behind the podium.
Randel Benjamin: Ladies and gentleman, please help me introduce the presenter for 2014's Shocker of the Year... Ace Bennett!
“Over and Under” by Egypt Central resonates through the arena. For all of you who definitely don't remember who this theme belongs to, former WFWF Tag Team and National Champion Ace Bennett makes his way out to the ring to a mixed reaction. Ace nods and smiles, likely remembering the days where he would always get a similar reaction. Dressed in a full tuxedo, likely for irony, Ace takes stage at the podium for the awards ceremony. Clearing his throat, Ace begins to speak.
Ace Bennett: Thanks for the lovely reception.
Those in the crowd that were booing now boo even louder at Ace’s obvious sarcasm.
Ace Bennett: If there was one thing that I enjoyed doing during my time in the WFWF, it was shocking people. Whether it was you, the fans, or my former colleagues backstage, I always felts I had a penchant for being unpredictable. Whether it was leaving right before I was scheduled to have my first match for the WFWF World Heavyweight Championship or co-winning this award just a year ago with the result from Scars and Stripes, I just loved to keep people guessing.
Ace pauses and glances through the crowd for a moment.
Ace Bennett: Zebra. See what I did there?
Ace clears his throat again.
Ace Bennett: I guess that’s why I was invited here tonight, to present this award. The WFWF is known for its surprising moments and here tonight we will crown one of those moments from the year of 2014 as the most shocking. Maybe this year there won’t be a gazillion way tie for the win. And the nominees are...
Phillip Schneider destroying Dex at WFWF The Takeover
Trace Demon letting Drakz win the WFWF World championship to screw over Dex
Shawn Malakai winning the WFWF World championship
Shawn Malakai awarding the WFWF World championship to Dex
Ace Bennett loses his WFWF World championship match at SuperBrawl
The Final Revolution commencing a riot in Canada
Joe Bishop defeating Daniel Kirkbride
Ace holds up an envelope that was in his hand and begins to open it.
Ace Bennett: And the winner is..
Opening the envelope, Ace reveals the piece of paper, reading the result silently in his head, he nods in approval.
Ace Bennett: Shawn Malakai awarding the WFWF World championship to Dex!
Dex walks up the stage slowly, slightly timid as he chuckles while holding the stairway rail. Dressed in a black suit and tie, he stands to the podium, in awe of the positive reception the formerly injured wrestler is currently receiving. He coughs ever-so slightly, clearing his throat as he begins to speak at the podium.
Cameron Stone: Alecia, did you realize that almost every nomination involved Dex?
Dex: Ten years ago, I didn't think I’d reach this level of eminence, nor did I ever see myself accomplishing the things that I did indeed accomplish. Throughout my minuscule tenure in the WFWF, I've learned a lifetime of lessons. One of which, I will foretell to everyone here, it is a phrase so repeated and retold, it’s almost become a staple of the human conscious, to ‘never give up.’ I was just like many people in the audience, I gave up, and simply threw away all my dreams, my hopes, and my aspirations, simply to relish in the security of mediocrity. I knew I would have never gotten here, I knew deep down and side that dreams are nothing more than a false hope, in which you would struggle your entire life, and never live up to your high expectations. I knew, that I would have held the World Championship that I so desired; that I would be nothing more than what my father had said I was.
He pauses for a moment, recuperating his shortness of breath.
Dex: After the death of a friend, I fell, further than ever before, to the pits of such depths I couldn't even conceptualize prior to that. I was depressed, and my thoughts of a life embellished with mediocrity eroded into complete hopelessness. I wanted to escape, from the living hell I was in, I wanted to wrestle in the WFWF. I eventually got out of that state of consciousness, in which I knew that my dreams were big, even for someone who had his aspirations set for a long while. I worked on my technique, day and night, extending my repertoire from a mere punch and kick, to being capable of things that I had fantasized about me doing.
I was later signed by the WFWF, a few years after my hard-work. I defeated a legend in his final match, I was passed the torch by another legend, and here I stand a former WFWF Champion, and now I'm a recipient of an award voted on, by the WFWF audience. I’d just like to say thank you, to those who've supported me, and even those who didn't. Without the fans, the WFWF would cease to exist, I don’t know what I would have become.
So, thank you! And remember, to never give up, no matter how difficult your aspirations seem to be. Thank you!
He holds up the glass award, that glistens in the nearly blinding stage lights. He smiles, a true genuine smile, his cheeks extending far beyond what we've seen of him, as he receives some timid claps from the small audience in hand, not many of his co-workers are impressed.
Alecia Matthews: Harsh crowd for Dex's return.
Cameron Stone: Do you blame anybody for not liking what he just said. And before you ask, I do not bolieve.
Dex returns to his table, with the Shocker of the Year award in his hands.
Randel Benjamin: Alcohol is not good for you, ladies and gents. Just sayin'. Let's introduce the presenter for WFWF Show of the Year... 'Poutine Extraordinaire' Cameron Stone!
Cameron leaves the makeshift commentary booth, after placing his headset on the table, and scurries his way up the stage. He waves to the crowd before being handed the envelope and the glass award.
Cameron Stone: Being able to sit at the commentary booth to witness these great shows from the best seat in the house is an absolute honor. I get to watch, and feel the tension, of some of the best moments this company has seen. Every WFWF show is special, getting to watch your favorite wrestlers put their body on the line. And the nominees for WFWF Show of the Year are...
WFWF Men & Monsters
WFWF Battle at the Garden
WFWF SuperBrawl VIII
Cameron Stone: And the winner is... WFWF SuperBrawl VIII! It was a hell of a show for those involved.
Alecia Matthews: With three awards down, we still have plenty more awards to be presented here tonight. Later tonight, the most praised award of the night will be presented... the 2014 WFWF Superstar of the Year award! But now, let's head back on stage with Randel Benjamin!
Randel Benjamin: Ladies & gentlemen next up we have an award that celebrates those that fight the good fight and forever display a sense of sportsmanship. Please welcome to the stage a man who in the last 12 months has seemingly put his past on check and started keeping everything above board. A man who likes to call himself “THE GOOD GUY!” please give a round of applause to two time Hall of Famer and your current WFWF World Heavyweight Champion, Drakz!
The in house band play a jazz version of MK7 to bizarre effect. The brass section lead the way as oppose to the usual heavily distorted guitars whilst one man is hired to simply click into a mic in time to the brushed drum beats.
Everyone applaudes and a few members of the audience wolf whistle as Drakz takes the stage. On the last wolf whistle Drakz raises a hand above his eyes and peers into the crowd. He winks, points and smiles as he leans into the rostrum mounted mic to comment on the whistler.
Drakz: Thank you Tugarin.
Everyone laughs like a good bunch of award ceremony folk should.
Drakz: And thank you Randel.
He turns to look at Randel Benjamin as he continues.
Drakz: Have you lost weight?
Randel Benjamin: Well as a matter of fact…
Drakz: You’re looking great sunshine. Give it up for slim, trim Benjamin everyone.
The cheers and wolf whistles start again as Benjamin exits stage left.
Drakz: Good evening ye merry bunch. How are everyone’s glasses? Topped up? Go for your lives this is all on the company’s bank roll. No but seriously though I’m here tonight to present the award for Face of the Year.
He picks up the envelope from the podium and begins.
Drakz: And the nominees are;
Joshua Dean. A man who in 2014 has battled evil both on his own and with the Saviors of Salvation at his side; facing the likes of The Final Revolution, The KKK and Phillip Schneider. Boo. Hiss. A man who puts his family first and refuses to back down from confrontation.
Shawn Malakai. Whilst absent for the second half of the year Malakai was able to overcome the odds and become the WFWF World Heavyweight Champion at Superbrawl, and whilst what he did after that should have earned him a nomination for heel of the year it can’t be denied this man was hot with the fans.
Dave Demento. Demento has battled the prodigy of nasty pieces of sh*t, Joe Bishop, for a number of months now in an attempt to hold The Final Revolution at bay. As an athlete he has really come into his own this year, recovering from an injury, joining the Saviors of Salvation and of course winning the WFWF International Title.
Oh look at that, me, Drakz.
And so without further ado, the winner of Face of the Year is…….
Dave Demento?……….hmmmm, could of sworn I was nominated? Dave Demento everybody.
A spot light falls onto the audience picking out Dave as he makes his way up to the stage. He accepts the award from Drakz, shakes his hand and then Drakz saunters out of sight. As Drakz leaves the stage, Demento holds the award in the air with a smile.
Dave Demento: Wow, what an honor. Winning this award is something special. It means that I was the best good guy, as voted by you fans. I'm not going to stand up here and tell you how good I am, while boring you all to death.
Demento cracks a grin while winking in Dex's direction.
Dave Demento: I'm a humble guy, thank you all.
Dave waves his hand to the crowd, smiling before returning to his seat among his fellow Saviors of Salvation members. That is until he stops midway as Joe Bishop gets in his way and holds the WFWF International championship up in his face. Bishop smirks, as Demento is visibly angered. Bishop, with his smug cockiness, heads up the stage for the second time tonight.
Joe Bishop: It's no secret, that the WFWF is in pretty bad shape right now. Lila Sleater is tearing apart everything that makes the WFWF what it is. She threatens to destroy professional wrestling, and unless myself, Jason Anders, Kyle Matthews, Trace Demon and anyone else who answers the call, can stop her, there will be no future for the WFWF. So it probably seems a little odd to see me standing up here, presenting the WFWF Rookie Of The Year Award, an award that focuses very much on the future of this once great promotion. An award that will honour the brightest talent to join the WFWF in 2014, the men who will help decide it's future.
Honestly, I think it's vital, at a time like this, to look to the future. Should we succeed, the landscape will change forever. Lila Sleater's old cronies, men like Yukio Blaze and Shawn Malakai, who have been forced down our throats for far too long will be banished from the re-born WFWF. Lila's 'projects', the likes of Dex and Dave Demento, will be swept aside, driven out of the promotion that they have damaged in pursuit of their own personal glory. And a void will open, that will have to be filled. If we do succeed, if we save professional wrestling, then the men nominated for this years Rookie Of The Year Award, will undoubtedly, have an incredible chance to fill that void, a chance to inject some life into what is currently a weak and frail huskof a promotion. Should we fail, then the nominees for this years Rookie Of The Year award, well, they won't have a promotion to wrestle in.
But make no mistake, the future of the WFWF rests, not only on the Final Revolution, but also on the men and women who are just finding their feet. The likes of Ante Whitner, Daniel Kirkbride, Shapiro, Axel Thornstowe, and the paths that they follow, will help decide the fate of the WFWF. If they and those that follow them make the same mistakes men like Dex, Demento and last years Rookie Of The Year, Jayson Garrett, have made, then the future is bleak. If they follow the path that myself and Kyle Matthews have taken, then maybe, just maybe, there's still some life in this promotion. There's still reason to be hopeful.
It's an enormous amount of pressure resting on the latest additions to the WFWF roster. But all of the men nominated for this award, have already proved that they know how to cope with pressure. It's not easy to survive your first year in the cut throat world of the WFWF. I know from experience, I walked out the door after my first defeat because I couldn't handle it and I wasn't seen again for two year. I'm one of many who couldn't adapt quickly enough to this promotion and one of only a few who got a second chance. So of course, I'm always impressed to see people, like tonight's nominees, come through and make an immediate impact. They are the men who will determine just how bright, the WFWF's future is.
Without further ado, the nominees for the WFWF Rookie Of The Year 2014 Award are...
"The Hope Dealer" Shapiro
Rookie sensation Daniel Kirkbride
Former WFWF National champion Nikki Dean
Current WFWF Tag Team champion, Tugarin Zmey!
Joe Bishop: And the winner is... Daniel Kirkbride. A guy who lost to me...
At the sound of his name being announced, Daniel Kirkbride's eyes widen only just, as he looks about the room momentarily, taking in the audience's applause before willing himself to his feet, approaching the stage as he's handed his award. Taking to the podium, he surveys the room in a sort of hushed awe.
Daniel Kirkbride: Wow, this is...well, this is something else. I guess I'd like to first take the opportunity to recognize several talents who've debuted alongside me this past year and have put up their own remarkable fights in our respective pursuits, including, but most certainly not limited to Ante Whitner, Gabriel Black, and Axel Thornstowe. I'd like to thank my parents, who with great resistance have come to support me as I traverse this path. Father Henry Marshall, my spiritual advisor. Dav...err...God, of course, for continuing to light the path for me at every turn, and most importantly of course, the WFWF fans. Without you, none of this happens. Thank you.
Daniel walks off the stage back to his seat with a smile.
Alecia Matthews: Remember folks, everybody is waiting to see who has won the Superstar of the Year award for 2014.
Cameron Stone: Let's head back to our emcee Randel Benjamin for our next award.
Randel stands behind the podium as he looks out into the sea of people sitting in front of him.
Randel Benjamin: Our next award is for the best feud of 2014. We have had many different guys duke it out in the middle of the ring on a weekly bases. However, a feud is a different story. These are men and women who have developed a hatred for each other. They have fought long and hard over championships, pride, honor and their loyalty. Here are the nominees for the 2014 Feud of the Year...
Drakz versus Trace Demon
Trace Demon versus Dex
Drakz versus Phillip Schneider
Dave Demento versus Joe Bishop
The Final Revolution versus The Saviors of Salvation
Randel opens the envelope and flashes a smile.
Randel Benjamin: And the winner for the 2014 Feud of the Year is... Dave Demento versus Joe Bishop!
Dave Demento rises to his feet once again and heads to the stage with another smile plastered on his face. He reaches the podium, extends for a handshake but is given a hug from his best friend. "The Savior of Salvation" holding his second award of the night high up in the air before fixating his eyes on Joe Bishop.
Dave Demento: 2014 was a very violent year for Joe Bishop and I. We put each other through hell and back over my... excuse me... the International championship. If we weren't going through a cage wall, we were fighting outside in the snowy streets of London. It was fun while it lasted, and I hope I can get another chance a you sometime in the future.
Dave waves to the crowd before getting ready to leave the stage, however he seems to have second thoughts as he returns to the podium. Only this time, his facial expression has changed and he looks pissed off.
Dave Demento: You know what, Joe? I can beat you. I can destroy you. I can finally rid the world of your slimy, disgusting douchebag face. The war isn't finished yet, it's not finished until I say it's god-damned finished. You think you're so smug sitting there being Trace Demon's bitch? I dare you to step into the ring with me again. We're tied with victories, bunghole. I know I can beat you, these people surrounding us know I can beat you, you know I can beat you again. I'm not supposed to be doing this, but damn it. I am finishing this war! I am officially challenging you to a rematch for that International championship. No steel cage surrounding us, no falls counting anywhere. I want you in a normal singles match. Joe, if I lose to you again, I won't challenge for that International belt as long as you hold it. I'll give you some time to think about it, give me an answer at Homecoming, bitch!
Dave leaves the stage in a fury, never taking his eyes off of his rival before taking his seat at his table. The house band drummer kicks into an upbeat tempo, harping heavily on the high-hats to set the rhythm. He's joined shortly thereafter on the keys, as the band jumps into full overdrive with a rousing, swinging rendition of "We Want Fun" by Andrew WK. The gathered audience directs their curious gaze toward the stage, as a lone spotlight hones in on the curtain, illuminating a well aged, bespectacled, dressed to the nines Chris Avalon as he emerges from the safety of the backstage area to face the public eye for the first time in close to ten years.
Waving to the crowd, the perennial underdog offers a courteous wave of the hand to the small handful of guests who recognize the once promising young talent as he approaches the podium, adjusting the glasses resting upon his nose as he addresses the gathered audience.
Chris Avalon: "Parting is such sweet sorrow". Before the door has the opportunity to fully shut behind the back of a departing star, their fans, admirers, and colleagues come to life with chatter, speculating as to just when they will make their inevitable return to the squared circle. Ingrained in all our minds, fans and talent alike, is the unwritten rule that however severe the circumstances may be that pull us away from this business, we all return in the end. The nominees for WFWF Return of the Year are:
Current WFWF World champion... Drakz!
Saviors of Salvation member... Josh Dean!
Current WFWF Tag Team champion... Samael Ahriman!
The voice and leader of the KoKaine Konspiracy... DMK!
Chris Avalon: And the winner is... Josh Dean!
"Perfect Strangers" by Deep Purple hits and the crowd rises to their feet as "The Franchise" Josh Dean makes his way to the podium. He extends his hand and shakes Chris Avalon's hand as he is presented the award. He holds the award high as the crowd erupts. He motions the music to die down as he steps up to the podium.
Josh Dean: Can I just say that I'm shocked? Is that ok with all of you?
The crowd bursts out into laughter.
Josh Dean: Listen, when I left WFWF seven years ago, I had my doubts that anyone would remember me, or wether I'd even be back. But thankfully, the stars aligned and I was able to come back in April at SuperBrawl, and you the fans have welcomed me back with open arms. I just want all of you to know that I appreciate that.
The crowd gives a hearty cheer as Josh sits the award down on the podium.
Josh Dean: I'm sure that it wasn't easiest choice either, what when you consider that Drakz was in this category and the body of work that he's accomplish in the past 12 months. But nevertheless, when I decided to come home to WFWF, I made a promise to give it my all every night. That way when it's time for me to hang up my boots for good, I can say that I have no regrets.
The crowd erupts in cheers.
Josh Dean: Being recognized as having the Return of the Year means that the fans didn't forget me, and that I'm keeping to my promise. But I can assure you, sure as I stand here, I will never be in consideration for this award ever again because my name is "The Franchise" Josh Dean, WFWF is my home, and I'm not going anywhere! Thank you!
Josh exits the stage as he heads back to his table alongside Dave Demento, both men holding their awards to each other. Randel Benjamin now graces the stage once more, with another smile on his face.
Randel Benjamin: Please welcome to the stage, to present the Tag Team of the Year award... current National champion, Ante Whitner!
Whitner ascends the stage and heads up to the podium.
Ante Whitner: In the WFWF, notable names have risen in pairs. Los Hobos, the Axis, the Anointed, and the New Epoch are just a few of the names that come to mind when you are thinking of the most influential and gifted tag-teams of all time. Tonight, I am presenting the award for Tag-Team of the Year. A tag-team who has molded the perfect example of a pair that creates chemistry with each other and uses it to electrify their opponents. With 2014 creating various stables and tag-teams, the right to fight for this award is truly an honor because it means through all the rubble and fire created by these tag-teams fighting for the spot, you and your partner or partners rose up to the occasion and delivered with extreme velocity to earn the spot above all else. So, here are your nominees for Tag-Team of the Year...
KoKaine Konspiracy!
The Saviors of Salvation!
Hollywood Unhinged!
The Final Revolution!
Ante Whitner: And the winners for Tag Team of the Year are... The Saviors of Salvation!
"Roar" by Katy Perry hits and the crowd goes nuts as on the jumbotron, via satellite, we see the former WFWF National Champion Nikki Dean pop up on the screen with a big smile on her face.
Nikki Dean: You know, I'm disappointed that I couldn't be here tonight with the rest of SOS to accept this award. But I'm still very proud of the work that our collective group accomplished in 2014.
The crowd cheers as Nikki points at the Team of the Year award.
Nikki Dean: What started out as a group forged in common principle and mutual respect has snowballed into something that I'm sure none of us expected. And to win this award over great teams like Hollywood Unhinged....
The crowd gives a mixed reaction to the former Tag Team Champions.
Nikki Dean: The KoKaine Konspiracy.
The crowd boos the new Tag Team Champions.
Nikki Dean: And the Final Revolution.
The heat turns nuclear.
Nikki Dean: Just goes to show that you the fans appreciate and support what the Saviors of Salvation are doing and what we will continue to do now that the calender has turned into 2015.
The fans erupt in cheers.
Nikki Dean: One last note, I'll leave you with the promise that SOS made when we officially formed at Battle at the Garden. We're not good, we're not bad, we are an entity trying to do what's right. Thank you, and I'll see you all soon.
"Roar" hits and the crowd cheers as Nikki blows them all a kiss. The screen atop of the stage turns black once more as cameras cut to Cameron Stone and Alecia Matthews standing at their makeshift commentary booth.
Alecia Matthews: Woo! Girl power.
Cameron Stone: And with that, I would like to remind all of our viewers at home that we will find out the coveted WFWF Superstar of the Year later tonight! What a night it has been so far.
Returning to the stage, Randel Benjamin waves for the crowd to be silent as he puts another glass award on the podium.
Randel Benjamin: Here to present the Match of the Year award is none other than WFWF Hall of Fame member... Percy Jackson!
"Guilty by Association" by H20 hits over the P/A system and through the curtain emerges Phillip Schneider's handler, Percy Jackson. Percy raises both hands, waving to the crowd and generally blowing any cool factor he has.
Percy approaches the microphone stand, adjusting the microphone to his liking.
Percy Jackson: I was asked to attend these illustrious awards by the organizers of this event to present the highest honor to in ring competitors, the Match of the Year award. Every year, there are hundreds of matches that happen inside of the three ropes of the WFWF ring but only one can be the match of the year. The 2014 nominees are; Dex versus Trace Demon versus Drakz versus Jason Garrett from Battle at the Garden, Drakz versus Phillip Schneider from Superbrawl, and Joe Bishop versus Dave Demento from Battle at the Garden.
Cameron Stone: Those were some wicked matches, Alecia.
Percy fumbles with the envelope for a moment, reading over it and smirking momentarily.
Percy Jackson: The winners for the 2014 WFWF Match of the Year... are Drakz and Phillip Schneider, from Superbrawl.
The spotlight falls onto Drakz who moves to collect the award as the winner of said match. He’s looking sharp in a pale grey suit and black tie, which he smooths down and buttons his jacket in front of as he makes his way up the steps to the stage. Percy holds the award out at full arms reach so as to duck away as soon as Drakz takes the award. It’s clear he doesn’t want any trouble. Drakz smiles at him, takes the glass plaque and rests it on the podium as he turns to the audience.
Drakz: Well folks, nice to see you again. Thanks a lot, this means something. Me and Phil slogged our guts out that night and it’s always nice to get a little recognition. He couldn’t be here tonight because, well, he’s a sociopath and therefore doesn’t get invited to do the nice things the company offers. Anyway….
Suddenly out of nowhere a man runs up onto the stage in the shadows around the spot light. He enters the light and grabs the award from the rostrum revealing himself as Phillip Schneider! He drills the thick glass award into the side of Drakz’s head but it doesn’t break, Drakz just slumps forward, knocking the mic from its stand and onto the floor. Amongst the feedback screams on the PA the crowd are shouting over each other as Schneider draws back and brings the award down on the top of Drakz’s head again, this time smashing it into a huge number of pieces and even slicing his own hand open. He holds his open palm out towards the crowd, showing them the blood as it drips down his wrist. He reaches and picks up the mic;
Phillip Schneider: Thanks for the award.
He then drops the mic and laughing at the state of the World Heavyweight Champion leaves the stage and probably the building.
Cameron Stone: What the hell just happened?!?
Alecia Matthews: Well, Drakz vs Schneider from SuperBrawl won the Match of the Year award. Drakz came to accept it but Schneider intercepted and viciously broke the glass award over Drakz' head...
Cameron Stone: Yeah... Thanks...
Alecia Matthews: You asked.
Cutting back to the stage, multiple WFWF young boys wipe the blood from the floor as Randel Benjamin tip toes his way to the podium. Drakz has been helped backstage and is presumably going to the hospital.
Randel Benjamin: Well... Umm... Here's Daniel Knight to present the WFWF Most Likely to Succeed in 2015 award... Can somebody please clean my shoes?
Daniel Knight steps out from the back and reaches the podium, with the glass award and envelope in hand.
Daniel Knight: As the backstage interviewer, I get to meet a lot of young men and women backstage who want to show why they are the best. Some of them win championships, some of them fade away into obscurity. But these men and women want to make 2015 their year. Here are the nominees for Most Likely to Succeed in 2015...
Ante Whitner!
Josh Dean!
Diamond Jack Sabbath!
Daniel Kirkbride!
Kyle Matthews!
Joe Bishop!
Daniel Knight: And the winner is... Josh Dean!
"Perfect Strangers" hits and the crowd goes wild as Josh picks up the award, raising it high above his head as he backs away from the podium. "Perfect Strangers" by Deep Purple hits and for the second time tonight we see Josh Dean come out onto the stage, Return of the Year award in tow as he approaches Daniel Knight. He extends his hand and the two men embrace in a respectful hug. Daniel presents Josh with the award and Josh holds both awards high above his head. He steps to the podium and sits both awards down.
Josh Dean: Thank you, thank you, you're far too kind. I mean hot damn, two awards in one night!
The crowd claps as Josh smiles, brushing his hair back out of his face.
Josh Dean: I'm sure if you ask anyone who won Most Likely to Succeed in their high school yearbook, it might take them a second but most of them would be able to tell you. The class president, varsity quarterback, valedictorian. They were voted for that award because everyone expected them to do something great. And here I am, being recognized as the one person in this locker room that will do something special in the year 2015.
The crowd claps as a smile creeps across Josh's face.
Josh Dean: Those people who have been voted Most Likely to Succeed at some point will gladly tell you that while it is an honor to receive an award like this, it does put an immense amount of pressure on the recipient. There are two kinds of people, the ones who will succeed and the ones who don't. I recognize that kind of pressure and am ready to accept the challenge.
He pauses.
Josh Dean: I've never been a guy that makes guarantees or outlandish statements, but you can bet your ass that Josh Dean will deliver the goods in 2015 and continue to prove why I am one of the elite, most complete wrestlers on the planet. Thank you!
"Perfect Strangers" hits as Josh picks up both of his awards and raises them overhead as he backs away from the podium. Suddenly, the theme music of Jayson Garrett is played by the in-house band as he walks up the stage and reaches the podium while being given an award and envelope from a WFWF young boy.
Jayson Garrett: Being heel of the year means a lot. As some feed of the crowd, these are the men whose music is the crowd jeering and screaming unmentionable things to them. These reactions only fuel their actions, something the crowd for the most part doesn't realize. For the man who wins this, this'll be ultimate vindication for each of their acts, now getting rewarded for them. It rewards the one who has made life a living hell for anyone who has crossed paths with our winner, and I'm sure they'd have it no other way. Without further ado, let's go to the nominees for heel of the year...
Phillip Schneider!
Trace Demon!
Tugarin Zmey!
DMK!
Jayson Garrett: And the winner is... Trace Demon!
Trace Demon approaches the pedestal, eyeing up Jayson Garrett as he does so. Garrett offers the trophy out to Trace and he looks at it, seemingly judging it. Eventually he takes it from Garrett, nods at the former Tag Team Champion and then approaches the podium, placing the trophy down upon it as he leans on the podium as if he’s in deep thought.
Trace Demon: Top heel… top heel, this is what I think of being your top heel.
He picks the trophy up from the podium and then throws it full force at the wall behind him, shattering the award into a dozen little pieces. He turns back around, gathering his composure.
Cameron Stone: I think we may need to have non-destructible awards next year...
Trace Demon: I’m not ungrateful to be recognised for what I’ve done, but if you people think what I’ve done amounts to being the best ‘heel’ in the WFWF then this place is in more trouble than even I thought. All I’ve done this year is work my ass off and try to keep this company from falling off of the brink! I’ve lead a revolution to try and save this company, not destroy it like you’re so called general manager Lila Sleater. I’ve taken the title off of not one but two inexperienced rookies who weren’t ready to be champion! I have done everything in my power to make this company great again and what do I get for it? I get that.
He points at the broken remnants of the top heel trophy that lies on the floor behind him.
Trace Demon: Lila Sleater has done everything she can to paint me as the villain, to make out as if I’m the one in the wrong, but I’m not the one who is ruining this company. I’m not the one misusing her top talent, I’m not the one trying to force her little poster boys into the limelight when they don’t deserve it. I don’t care what happens anywhere else, in this company you earn your spot, nothing gets handed to you! This isn’t something you’ll hear me say often but I don’t deserve this award because I’m not the top heel in this company, Lila Sleater is. She’s the one tearing this place apart; she’s the one destroying everything I love and if you can’t see it… then you’re far more stupid than I ever thought.
And with that he walks off, head held high, the shattered remnants of the trophy remaining on the floor as a symbol of his disgust.
Alecia Matthews: Next, ladies and gentleman, is the moment you've all been waiting for as the WFWF Superstar of the Year will be announced.
Cameron Stone: At this moment, I would like to congratulate all the winners tonight and with them all a good 2015.
Alecia Matthews: Without further ado, let's head back to Randel Benjamin.
After a long night, Randel approaches the podium one last time, this time without any blood-stained shoes on.
Randel Benjamin: It is now time for our main event of the evening! Please welcome to the stage, former WFWF World champion, and WFWF Hall of Fame member, as well as a man I shared the stage with at the SuperBrawl pre-show... Wayne McGurk!
Wayne walks out here in Portland to a huge ovation from the crowd sitting behind their favorite WFWF wrestlers.
Wayne McGurk: Evenin'. Anyone who knows me, knows that I ain't really one for these kinds of events, but having the honor to actually win this means something. Championships, they come and go but this is something a wrestler can look back on and know that for the better part of the year, he was the better than anyone else in the company. It don't matter if he was in the lower card or the main event, he drew asses to seats and made sure to give the best match of the night every time he stepped through the curtain. This award honors these men and women...
Drakz!
Trace Demon!
Penny Shannon!
Dave Demento!
Wayne McGurk: And the winner is... current WFWF World champion, Drakz!
Instead of Drakz’s music, “Beware” by the late Big Pun begins to play causing a chorus of boos. Out comes the world’s greatest midget, DMK along with Tugarin Zmey. DMK is dressed to the nines in a tiny tux and has a giant grin on his face as Wayne McGurk just looks around awkwardly like he doesn’t know what to with the odd couple walking up to the podium. DMK steps up to the podium blowing by Wayne while grabbing the award at the same time for Superstar of the Year. He pushes the podium over as Zmey just stares down the crowd and everyone in that strange way that he usually does. The podium crashes over as DMK produces a microphone through midget magic.
DMK: So since Drakz was wrongly selected as the winner of this glorious award, I have decided to take it upon myself to give the award to the REAL Superstar of the Year…ME!
He holds the award up as high in the air as he can, basically three feet.
DMK: I have broken every stereotype in the business with my success. I have paved the way for people like Joe Bishop and Trace Demon. I have singlehandedly beaten everyone they put in front of me. I am a f~cking role model for the WFWF fans, and a prime example of what hard work can achieve in this world. I mean look what I did for Samael Ahriman, I carried him to the tag team titles. The same ones he lost to those bitches, Drakz and Michael Kyzer.
The crowd erupts with hatred at the last name that DMK said.
DMK: I guess Portland isn’t a fan of the junkie from that town 170 miles up I-5. Well Portland’s adopted son has come home! And he has brought gold to go with the award that he has just won!
DMK rips off his shirt and reveals one of the WFWF tag team titles around his waist, well entire torso would be more accurate. The crowd still doesn’t cheer the midget from Seattle even with the cheap pop.
DMK: I want to dedicate this award to all my fans out there. I would have still done this without you but you are the reasons why my merchandise checks are coming in. So keep hitting up KKK.com and buy my shirts. And to all my haters, go f~ck off. You will never stop the midget train. Joe the p~ssy won’t do it, that bible thumping p~ssy who hangs out with that other p~ssy won’t do it, and Drakz, the biggest p~ssy in the entire promotion won’t do it. And if he looks at me wrong from here on out, I won’t hesitate to slap the taste of his mouth. There is only one Superstar of the Year and his name is D…M…K!!!
Midget mic drop. Fade to black.
