Baraka, Cyrax, Sektor, Robo Smoke and Ninja Smoke are being shown at NYCC. They all look great. They also had Rain, Goro and MK III Sub-Zero who also look good but I'll probably pass on.

And ideally I want many more (though again only if they are relevant to the original trilogy) such as background characters (e.g. Masked Guard, Shadow Priest), characters from other media (e.g. King Gorbak from the comics, Oniro from the animated series), rumor characters (e.g. Nimbus Terrafaux, Hornbuckle), maybe even old concept characters from John Tobias' original sketches (e.g. Rokuro, or the original "tiger-man" version of Kintaro). Generally I'm not interested in characters/costumes outside the original trilogy, though there are a few exceptions as I would buy Blaze, Fujin, Jerrod, Onaga, Quan Chi, Shinnok, Skarlet, Tanya, and MK1/MK2 style Tremor. But for the most part I personally hope Storm will focus almost exclusively on the characters listed above and give the fans a COMPLETE roster of classic characters in figure form for once. |

Just got my first few Storm Collectibles figures and this may honestly be my new favorite line. I grabbed Goro and Smoke and feel that these are easily the best figures of 2018 for me. I’m kicking myself for not getting into it sooner.

I know that Baraka is Storm’s next MK release but they seriously need to start releasing some of the protagonists. Hopefully with the protos we’ve seen Liu Kang is out by the summer. MK3 Sub-Zero is a favorite of mine but we’ve already gotten his older brother released twice. Liu, Johnny, Sonya, and Raiden should all be released before him.
We haven’t seen any protos of them yet but I’m dying for Jax and Kabal based on their MK3 looks. I’m hoping once we get to the human figures that they are based on their MK-MK3 looks and not on the more recent games.

How have they not made a Raiden figure yet? I hope they do and it's changeable to the old school look like my Scorpion is. But I'm with you, Kabal is an instant buy!!!!!

I get that releasing repaints of all the ninjas was an easy way to make $ without having to create any new sculpts but the fact that they released villains like Shao Khan and Goro with them makes the current available figures seem one sided (Smoke and Rain are really the only “good guys” we have with Sub Zero being the older brother version). Releasing Baraka next makes it even stranger. Liu, Raiden, Sonya, and Johnny should be high on Storm’s list to produce. I’m hoping we get the following looks for them... Liu -MK3 Johnny - MK2 Sonya - MK3 Raiden- MK Jax - MK3 with swapable non-metal arms (I see Storm doing two releases as an easy repaint unfortunatly) Kung Lao - MK2 Kabal - MK3 |

To me it looks like they're going for a more generic likeness, since I don't think either the heads of MK3 Unmasked Sub-Zero or MK1 Johnny Cage look that much like John Turk or Dan Pesina, respectively, and MK2 Liu Kang looks nothing like Ho Sung Pak. But time will tell, and I really hope I'm wrong, as I would definetely prefer that the original actor likenesses are used for every figure in the line. And if that is the case hopefully the headsculpts will be improved, particularly Liu Kang, since even if it is intended to be generic, it really doesn't capture Liu Kang very well in my opinion. What are everyone's hopes for Toyfair if Storm are there? Personally I will be happy to see any new characters from the original trilogy, since I want every single one, but I'm particularly hoping to see these soon: "invisible" Reptile (made in transparent/clear plastic) Chameleon Tremor Motaro Sheeva Kintaro With Baraka announced to be the next figure coming, I must admit I'm getting a little concerned that they're not going to bother with Tremor or Chameleon. I mean don't get me wrong, I'm all for moving deeper into the character roster, but still it would be a shame to see the MK1/MK2 Ninja mold retired without getting as much use out of it as possible. |

^ Toyark has a great comparison pic between the Johnny Cage proto and Dan Pesina from his MK1 days and it looks pretty spot on to me. Dan Pesina was also at C2E2 last year and was promoting Storm Collectibles so i feel that they atleast have a working deal with him.
As for the other live actors I’m sure it’s on a case by case basis. I feel that’s also a reason as to why it’s taken so long to get any human headsculpts. I’d love for them to be able to sculpt everyone but I wouldn’t be surprised if they have to take a few liberties with some characters.
I’m just hoping that they can get Kerri Hoskins for Sonya (MK3) rather than Elizabeth Malecki (MK 1&2). To me MK3 Sonya is the definitive version.
As for Chameleon and Tremor, I feel that they will likely take a back seat for a while. When casual fans talk about the original games they aren’t remembered as fondly as the other ninjas.

Man, I really want to get into this line. I only have Shao Khan at the moment, I slept on the rest. I think its time to jump in! I really hope that they re-release the ninjas because at the prices they're at I'll never be able to touch them lol

My hope is that McFarlane will focus purely on figures from modern MK games, with Storm focusing purely on figures from classic MK games. Since I'm not a fan of McFarlane, and I only care about classic MK. In other news, Storm confirmed on their facebook page that they will be attending Toyfair. Really hope they show some new classic MK figures, I know several are already in development, but still I'd really like them to pick up the pace a bit so that we can have a good chance of getting ALL the classic characters in this line. |
