LIVE! From the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan!
The Main Event!
Shawn Malakai vs. Thunder
Two men long bound by blood, sweat, tears and friendship. Two men who have been the best of frends and the worst of enemies. Two men who have held each other up high when the rest of the world sought to tear them down. Now, just when these two men looked stronger than ever they imploded, Thunder first ‘betraying’ Malakai during the Scars & Stripes Battle Royal and then Malakai returning the favour by putting Thunder through the announce table. Since then tensions certainly haven’t thawed and the only thing that’s stopped things from simply exploding is that these two men haven’t had a real chance to go to war. That ends now on the order of new WFWF general manager Lila Sleater who has granted Malakai’s wish and made this blockbuster main event hot on the heels of announcing that they’ll be locked inside a steel cell as part of the Superbrawl World Heavyweight Championship match. There’s much more to this match than momentum, there’s two men who know each other better than anyone else and who are ready to use that knowledge to tear each other apart. Will both men even get to Superbrawl on the heels of this one?
Six Man Tag Team Action
Trace Demon, Slanted & Enchanted vs. Cam Nitta, Andrew Carter & Mason Dixon
If there’s one thing Trace Demon isn’t overly fond of it’s teaming with other people, so how does new general manager Lila Sleater make it very clear that she’s the boss around here now? Simple, force Trace Demon to team not with one person, but with two. And this isn’t just any two but rather the craziest duo you could think of, the unpredictable Slanted and Enchanted who probably know all about Trace Demon from their mutual ‘ally’ Penny Shannon. On the other side of the ring stands Cam Nitta who is still seeking revenge on Slanted and Enchanted for what they did to Mak Cross at the Scars & Stripes pay per view. This is his latest chance to do exactly that but whereas previously he had to go it alone tonight he’s got some backup in the form of Andrew Carter and Mason Dixon. The latest addition to the growing ranks of WFWF’s tag team division are .500 so far and they’ll be wanting to add a second victory to their résumé, especially with rumours flying around that Lila Sleater has a big tag team related announcement to make. All six competitors have something to gain but they’ll have to work together to do it, easier said than done for some.
New School, Old School, Rat School, Blazed School
Chase Landon vs. Yukio Blaze
Yukio Blaze has made himself another enemy. This time it’s none other than the former friendly neighbourhood Joe Bishop (who as you’ll see below is facing off with Landon’s rather unwilling tag team partner – continuity!). In recent weeks we’ve seen Bishop join forces with a man with an animal for a name so why not let Blaze face off with a man who’s best friend is literally an animal. Landon might not actually have Emile anymore so the big question is whether that’s going to make him even nuttier than before, because we all know that rats are excellent at keeping people in control, or if he’s about to fly right off the deep end. Now ahead of Yukio Blaze’s Superbrawl VIII match against Joe Bishop he’ll face off with another young, gothic-inspired competitor who also has a point to prove though we’re not entirely sure what that is. A victory for Blaze would see him riding high ahead of his clash with Joe Bishop in just a few shows time while Landon could make a huge impact by defeating a soon to be Hall of Famer. I mean there’s no pressure guys, just go out and have fun.
Singles Action
Joe Bishop vs. Jayson Garrett
From one gothic oddball to the next, Jayson Garrett just can’t seem to rid himself of the so called “weirdo’s” of the WFWF. Fresh off a loss alongside Chase Landon in last weeks main event Garrett will likely be pleased to get back to singles action but maybe less so when he finds out his opponent. Joe Bishop, long called a rising star of the WFWF and a former three time National Champion, has had enough of being stuck in the middle of the pack and has given himself over to Crow and his Nest. Last week we saw exactly what that means as, despite being on the losing end of a tag team match, it was made very clear that Bishop wants the same thing Crow wants, and that’s what’s best for the Nest. Now ahead of a Superbrawl match against the one and only Yukio Blaze Bishop will look the build momentum and impress his new leader against the Golden Boy of the WFWF. It’s Gold versus Black (what, black is the stereotypical gothic cult colour) and only one can keep their star rising while the other falls into the abyss.
Big Guys Fighting = Ratings
ZMaster vs. Devilkiller
Last week Devilkiller made a surprise return and came out on the winning end of a match with Dex in the process. The former National Champion was one of the hottest prospects in WFWF when he vanished but now that he’s back he’s looking to pick up where he left off but that is easier said than done when you’re second opponent upon your return is a living legend. ZMaster may have failed in his mission to defeat Reverend Shadow last week but he now has bigger things on his mind having been challenged to put his mask on the line at Supebrawl by none other than Dex meaning the masked behemoth will be looking for a big victory to gain back some momentum. Notably these are two of the biggest men on the WFWF roster right now and if we’ve learnt anything from our fellow wrestling promotions it’s that the bigger they are the faster they get pushed up the card without reason. But guess what! This is the WFWF and the only way to move on up is to win, be it by putting down the hot rookie or scalping the veteran.
Opening Contest
Crow vs. Hendrix
Crow is a dangerous man, no doubt about that, having come out on top in one of the most confusing tag team matches in Revolution history. But there’s no rest for the wicked, and Crow most definitely is that, as he’ll be facing off with a rather unknown quality in the form of the one named (like Prince, only not as awesome because it’s Prince) Hendrix. Last week Hendrix was meant to compete on the exclusive WFWF.COM pre show but that didn’t happen so we’re still waiting to find out what exactly he’s all about. One thing’s for certain is that this won’t be an easy challenge for the rookie because even though Crow is just as unproven inside the ring he’s damn creepy outside of it and with The Nest watching on he’ll be looking to continue his reign of terror upon the WFWF.
