Does anyone have any possible receipes without part-swapping? I know Crush wouldn't be bad for a Crow Sting, but I'm starting to get into customs and want to start making a few hasbros. Anyway, I don't need thousands, just a few popular current stars (Kane, Edge, Jericho whatever). Thanks guys.

You need to part swap. Great thing about Hasbros is that if you wanted to make a Sting figure you could just use a ToyBiz Sting head on a repainted hasbro body of your choice. Toybiz, ECW, Galoob and mostly all Jakks (non BCA) head look great on Hasbro bodies... look at my website for proof.
It will be almost impossible to make current wrestlers out of plain old hasbros with part and head mods.
Get a grasp on reality... if you're going to make customs, why do it half assed. Go all out and put some freaking effort into the customs... make something that gave you a challege... if you don't you'll never get the feeling of accomplishment.
If you're going to do something, do it right... don't look for short cuts...

Well, it's just for practice really. I don't want to go and buy a figure for £10 and completely mess it up. I want to expand my painting skills, but while expanding them, I may as well be making something in the process.

Trial and error dude. Thing with making customs is you have to have parts to do it. Paint is removable... if you don't like take if off. Soak it in some simple green overnight and it's strips the figure to it's original production paint. Use water based paints and your life will be easier. Or just don't mess up! stencil on what you want to paint and then take your time and paint over it... take your time... Customs are not easy. ESP Hasbros since there is a lot less to work with.
