CC needs to get back to eating his dayum five guys. dude drops 50 lbs and cant throw more than 91mph. sad.
Apparently Drew is turning down the QO from Boston, he will probably get picked up elsewhere by a team looking to capitalize on an overacheiving season. He's not a terrible player, but he's not worth 3/40 when you have X-Man.
Yankees really have crapin the system. A few moderately good pitchers. But the only way to really build it is to suck for a few years and hope you strike lightning with draft picks. That will NEVER happen. Yankees need to find the right combination of guys like Boston. Need to learn to accept that not every guy is going to hit .300/20/80 and get paid $18 million a year. That's why I was pissed they just let Swisher go for nothing, a lot of success is how the TEAM is. Guys with personality who make the game fun. Gomes in Boston is an example....not an all star, but the guy gets it done and people LIKE him.
Either way, they aren't doing crapuntil the big contracts are done (Tex, A-Rod, CC). Then who knows. I'm actually hoping that Pineda throws a god damn major league inning next year. What the hell did they get him for???
As far as the awards, yeah there's no way Miggy isn't getting MVP again. NL? I think Goldschmidt might have a shot....dude had a MONSTER year, highest OPS in the NL, most RBIs, batted over .300, even Freddie Freeman. McCutchen is easy, they will probably go with him....but I think there are more deserving guys.
Other categories it's pretty much a no brainer. If the Yankees had made the playoffs there would have been a stronger case for Girardi as MOY. But Farrell takes boston from last in the divison to world champs, cant do much better than that

Kuroda, Cano, and Granderson all turn down QOs from the Yankees.

to the surprise of absolutely no one. lol
Grandy is gone, as much as i like him and am going to miss his Home Runs...ugh. I think they find a way to get Cano back, but it's going to be expensive.

they should really build a new park for the Sox near Gillette, there's so much room out in Foxboro. Make it the "hub" for Boston sports...well 50% of it anyway.

I'd like to move to Atlanta and get a new stadium every 20 years. TEAR DOWN FENWAY PARK! It mostly books down to them needing smaller capacity. And they want to move it out of the war zone ghetto it is in to where the white people who actually go to games live. Turner field is a nice stadium in a horrible place with terrible access. Also the city didn't want to pay money to fix the stadium after getting bent over by the falcons for a new one. Both teams getting a new stadium and neither really needs it.

It is in the middle of a pretty rough place. Not to come off as racist but everyone knows as a white guy the last place you wanna drive down in the middle of the night is a place called Martin Luther King Blvd. When you pull out of the G parking lot they send you right down it. I will say that Turner Field is pretty awesome when its packed though. I was there for the Braves-Giants NLDS game 3 a couple years ago and when Eric Henske hit that go ahead homer, the place erupted like no stadium Ive ever been to before. Including stadiums at UGA, UT, FSU & South Carolina.

Turner field is a great stadium still. I don't buy that it really needs $200M in renovations that the Braves are claiming. I think it is just PR. Cobb County just an offer they couldn't refuse, it will be smaller which is needed, and out of a "bad" area.
I wish the Falcons were building their stadium out in the Suburbs somewhere. I can get to the Dome/Philips Arena ok, and usually park in the Decks, but you can sit in them babies for nearly 2hrs sometimes depending what level your on. Where they are building the new stadium, it looks more crowded and less parking depending on what they do with the surrounding crap. Braves don't need a new stadium, but I am glad they are getting one.
Falcons don't either, but they are trying to stay competitive. A lot of stadiums have been built since the Dome was. It will bring a Super Bowl to the City, Final Four, MLS franchise, if anyone cares, maybe another WMania.

SO! In another move on the LOOOOOOONG list of moronic moves by our astute GM, Ruben Amaro Jr. has signed 36-year old outfielder Marlon Byrd. His deal? 2 years for $16M. The Jesus facepalm won't even be good enough here.

But me talking money in baseball is tough considering I'm a Yankees fan where it's like playing a video game with salary cap turned off

I don't want him, I think it's a dumb move.

.291/24/88 isn't bad. Statistically he was about as productive as any other Phillies outfielder was last year.

I've been thinking about the acquisition all day and I think that overall it's a good move. He's not going to be the solution to all of our problems, but he is coming off a year with exceptional numbers. He will be better defensively than Ruf or Young were last year and you can only hope he has another 20+ bomb season. I think Amaro is looking at him as someone like Ibanez who we signed for 3 years at age 37 and he did extremely well for us for 3 seasons. I would still like to see another outfielder acquired like Trumbo or Bourjos from the angels. I'm just hoping they don't ditch Brown.

no brainer that Farrell *should win....but Girardi should have been a finalist. There's no excuse as to why he wasn't Fact is, everyone overlooks the Yankees because they are the Yankees.
If the Yankees win the AL east next season, no one will win any awards, even though they barely got anywhere this past season. It's kind of frustrating because I follow this team, and yes not everyone is an MVP, but when guys excel they get overlooked because they are on supposedly a team of All Stars.

I would have liked him to at least take a shot at Cruz or Ellsbury before simply settling on Byrd. And he is being overpaid by $8M easily. $16M is too much at his age for, lets face it, no guarantee on his production.

They could fire up a time machine, snatch a 27 yr old Babe Ruth, plop him in RF and they'd still finish fourth place. Only thing that will keep them from finishing last next year is the fact that the Marlins will almost certainly be worse.
