ARod is suspended for 2014 season, Kelly Johnson/Mark Reynolds = new bash brothers! Saves them some $27.5M. NYY could make a really big signing, which be could be be Tanaka. $189M is out the window, even with A-Rod's suspension. Pumped they saved the dough.

Yeah you could see why Cashman was borderline giddy with this. ARod being suspended probably helps the Yankees.
In all honesty, not A-Rod related but the teams shouldnt be let off the hook. It should count on the cap at least, it does in other sports. Weird that its actually beneficial for teams to get scumbag cheaters at times

exactly, the Yankees were dumb enough to give him that kind of contract, they shouldn't be allowed to scrape $27m off of it because A-Rod took PEDs 10 years ago Bottom line here is this....the fact that all the "names" on that list got 50 games, and A-Rod got 211 is disgusting and absolutely shows the bias of MLB and their higher ups. They were pissed off at ARod because they thought he was going to be the clean savior of the game and he wasn't. They certainly aren't taking ANY responsibility for themselves ALLOWING all of this PED use to go on. Maybe MLB should have to refund the money from all the tickets they sold to Cardinals games in 1998....or Giants tickets in 2001. If they were going to suspend all these players last season, it should have been across the board 50. End of story. There was absolutely NO reason why A-Rod should have gotten this 211 thing....it was only so Selig could flash his invisible muscles and try just one more time to get rid of A-Rod because he (Selig) is a ing FRAUD.

I just hope he keeps fighting it because I hate Bud Selig and I hate A-Rod. Honestly, no matter who wins, I do to. And part of me hopes that the MLB gets exposed for their lack of action and idiocy. Either way, I'll just sit back and enjoy the show.

To be honest, I'd much rather give up a few mid level prospects to acquire David Price. Why the F would the Rays take "mid level prospects" for Price??? I over exaggerated a bit but I'm not sure they get a fortune for Price anyway. Mainly because teams aren't willing to empty the farm system on a player who only has two years left on his contract. Tampa bay will lose some leverage if they wait till next year to trade Price, who'll pretty much be a one year rental and then chase the big money contract in free agency.

This. All of this. I agree with everything you said, which is why I look at the MLB as a giant joke in this day and age. One of the most respected sports across the globe, and Major League Baseball has just been hit with scandal after scandal, after story, after accusation. The only time MLB hits the front page is when something bad happens.

Can we talk about how utterly disgusting and discgraceful it is that the MLB is allowing a DRUG DEALER to basically walk off scott free because he's ratting out his biggest "client" if everything he said was true....how the hell are they looking at this guy like a VICTIM? Bosch is like walking scum, when the cops bust a drug raid do they just arrest all the users and let the dealers go free? this entire situation is EMBARASSING and if A-Rod really did in fact do all those things Bosch is claiming, that is pretty sad. If he was "juicing" from 2010 on he was doing a lousy job of it.

Report is surfacing that Clayton Kershaw has signed a 7-year, $215M contract extension with the Dodgers. That's a little over $30M per season.
Wouldn't shock me if Tanaka's up next.

I love how A-Rods lawyer tried to use David Ortiz has a shovel to take the spotlight off him.
Good work clown, enjoy the St Paul Saints next year

But it *is* hilarious that the media just took Ortiz's word for it when he denied ever using steroids despite being on that 2003 list. The media loves Papi so he doesn't get that "tainted" image as all the other steroid guys.

Kershaw is going to make like 900k per start.
It's stupid to use Ortiz to deflect blame from your client. I absolutely believe he has juiced as well though. But hey, prove it.

The Dodgers are going to get Tanaka. That's just my gut feeling. They must be printing money out there in LA. The Dodgers just made that 8 billion dollar TV deal....the Yankees just can't compete with that type of money...I mean they probably COULD, but they WON'T.
The Yankees let Cano go because the contract wasn't favorable,...they will do the same thing with Tanaka, because he's not a sure thing in MLB like Cano was. Yeah, Tanaka was 24-0 in Japan and had a sub 2.00 ERA, but we don't know how that would translate to MLB. We've seen Cano already in MLB for 9 years and he WAS a Yankee. We know Robinson Cano, we know what he's capable. Yeah, 10 years would have been bad, but he would have been good for at least 5-6 years and you worry about the back end when you get there and suffer if you have to (like with the A-Rod deal). The A-Rod deal was pretty good for the first 5 years, and we got a ring and he was the main guy in the 2009 Postseason, along with Andy Pettitte.
If the Yankees let Cano go, they'll pass on Tanaka if the contract bidding goes too long/high.
Kuroda, Nova, Sabathia, Phelps, and whoever #5 is going to be is NOT good enough to get it done, and the Yankees bullpen SUCKS.
The additions of Ellsbury, McCann and Beltran help the offense...but the Yankees are very weak from the pitching aspect. Yeah, you have to score runs, but if you can't prevent the other team from scoring you can't win.
The Yankees are a starter and 2 relievers away from being a serious contender in my eyes. Right now, they're the worst team in the division just because their pitching projects to be so bad as it stands.
Boston, Baltimore, Tampa, and even the Blue Jays (if they rebound from injuries) have much better starters/bullpen than the Yankees.

It wasnt like Arod, or Pettite who admitted or guys who got caught. His name was on an unsubstantiated list that was never proven. Sure give him some doubt, a lot of guys have it rightfully or wrongfully but hes still producing and hasnt been caught. The funniest part of this was ARod going to his lawyer and telling him to back off and apologize since ARod and ORtiz are friends. Great lawyer there bud

Great lawyer there bud Ortiz was on the same list that A-Rod was on that got "leaked" before the 2009 season. A-Rod came out and admitted it. David Ortiz took the Sammy Sosa approach and forgot how to speak English for a press conference. So yeah, Ortiz is a cheater and got caught. But just like we love Pettitte in New York, you guys love Big Papi in Boston. The difference is, A-Rod was a douche bag who was hated by everyone BEFORE any PED scandal, so it just added fuel to the fire.

Great lawyer there bud Guys like Mike Piazza and Jeff Bagwell aren't being inducted into the HOF because they've merely had *suspicions* of steroid use...yet I hear guys like Ken Rosenthal say they're going to vote for Ortiz and Jon Paul Morosi bitching we aren't focusing on Ortiz' 2013 post-season heroics because the attention is on the HOF and who did/didn't take steroids. It's so hypocritical, it's like they want you to forget there's been ANY suspicion of Ortiz let alone the fact that his name actually popped up on the same list A-Rod, Manny, and Sosa were on. It's pretty evident the media gives him a pass because he plays for the Red Sox, he's incredibly clutch in the post-season, and he isn't that big of a dick like Clemens/AROD/Bonds, etc. I'm fine with that but it's incredibly hilarious Piazza and Bagwell are being kept out of the HOF b/c of mere suspicion yet the media ignores Ortiz's suspicion.

I hope the Dodgers don't over pay because locking up Hanley is the next priority after Kershaw.

So a buddy of mine told me his very reliable source says the Cubs are about to sign Tanaka.
Take it with a grain of salt but I'd figure I would pass along the news. I trust this person but still.
