The 95 Rumble was horrible. 96 was ok, but I thought they made it too obvious that Shawn was going to win. Hated the way he eliminated Vader and Yokozuna. I was excited for the return of Jake "the Snake", until I saw the condition he was in. If I remember right wasn't Warrior supposed to return for the 96 Rumble but they couldn't get a deal worked out in time? Would've been interesting to see how he would've been worked into the event.

That was the biggest joke ever. And I agree, they made it way too obvious that Shawn was going to win. Seems like Vince was absolutely DESPERATE for Shawn to get over with the crowd after how bad his WM11 match was.

LOL!!! I was pulling for Eli Bleu myself. You guys are way off. One of the Heavenly Bodies were the favorites that year. HBK winning was a fluke. Hey, any of these men winning would of been fine with me. Huge fan...

Vince always had some weird man-crush on Shawn during the 90s.
You could hear it in his voice during commentary.
I hated it.

lol I hated all the love Vince and JR gave Shawn in the 90s. And for as much love they gave hawn, they always seemed to try and take shots at Bret on commentary, especially from 96-97.

For all the verbal b-j's Vince and JR gave HBK in the 90's, at least HBK could back it up (including WM XI, really now that match sucks? WTF happened to the world?).

Bryan Clarke and Hawk both said that there was a deeper relationship beyond work between Shawn and Vince...
Billy Gunn had a drug and attitude problem just like shawn, he was beyond question a better athlete but Billy's push ended. Shawn's certainly did NOT. I'm not saying it' true, but there must have been some reason why Vince was so into shawn. He failed to deliver a good match with Diesel.
Anyone notice how Shawn's main event mania matches in the 90s were actually quite bad? WM11, 12 and 14 were all quite bad matches.

Well by my count
WM XI vs. Diesel- ***1/4 WM XII vs. Bret- ***** (not for everyone) WM XIV- Austin- **** (Hard work all around with an injured back)
To compare Gunn to HBK is just weird on all levels. Gunn was a good athlete, but wasn't great like Shawn was. Anvil, I gotta say that your bias against Shawn is just not valid anymore.

I don't think it's bias talking, I'm not a big shawn fan but I can admit when he has a good match. I actually don't dislike his match with Diesel at mania, but it certainly wasn't good. I find his match with Bret really boring, and that's on both of them, not just shawn. And I think his match with Austin was bad. Yes it was because of his back, but I don't see how you can ignore a bad match just because of an injury. Quite frankly Shawn had better matches with The Bulldog, Razor and Owen than he did with Bret, Diesel or Austin. I think comparing Shawn to Billy is quite founded, they're very similar in a lot of ways, I just think Billy was all around better. Better look, gimmick, on the mic, moveset, strength, speed and charisma. But that's just me and I'm probably in the minority.

WM11 vs Diesel - 3.5 stars WM12 vs Bret - 4 stars WM14 vs Austin - 3 stars (mostly based on the condition HBK was in and the fact he still put on a match while barely being able to walk)

I like Billy Gunn, but a better gimmick? Which gimmick did he have that was better than HBK? The cowboy? The dude who loved asses? Rockabilly? Gay Billy? He had awful gimmicks, which is why he they canned him and never reached his full potential.

The New Age Outlaws (modern age cowboys) were way better and more over than Shawns Chip n Dale dancing gimmick.
